When your're done Customizing
« on: May 21, 2008, 14:39:16 »
Hi ,

I was wondering what most people do when they are done customizing. ???
I rarely keep them customized. That is because I only have about three hundred figures, and I think I would need them for something else  :-[. I always buy at least three before keeping them cuztomized.
if I have duplicates I switch legs or hair around though. Kind of wierd question.

Once I've done a custom s/he goes in with the rest and I don't usually recognise it as a custom later on.

I customise mostly to avoid duplicate figures, and I only use standard Playmobil parts.

Good poll, Seawarrior ...  :)9

Most of the time I keep my figures customized.

I am somewhat of an eclectic customizer.

Sometimes I just switch parts around (Like Ralf Gemein).

Like these "Rough Riders" from the Spanish American War (1898)

Sometimes, I switch parts around and paint.

Like this Greek Evzone (1899)

And, sometimes I switch parts around, cast my own parts and paint.

Like these British colonial highlanders in the Sudan (1897)

Thanks again for starting this poll. It will be interesting to see the results.

All the best,
Richard

I tear out my hair, scream "It's garbage!  Garbage!", and head off to the local pub to get tanked up on absinthe.

But
When I don't burn the custom then run it over with the car, I usually keep it intact if it's a "character" custom.  A character custom is a custom that in some way impresses me as having a personality / intellectual investment.  If it is just a generic custom with a hair swap or a virtually random body part swap, I don't give it any special recognition and treat it like any other klickie.

I used to make experiments. There were one and another who lasted, and I couldn't tear them apart. (I still remember sir Leone ... The character still lives!)

(If you take a look at my text in the "Welcome" section, you will read that I have none of my old klicky from childhood ...)

It seems that sir Elmo will last.

In my case, it seems that medieval characters last longer. It has everything to do with my writing. They're usually characters.

A bit like what Tim does, as he explains right above ...

Actually I never customise :)
OK, maybe I change a hat or so, but not more than that.

It has to bee said that I am a big fan of all the customisations which are shown here on the site :*)

In general, my customs remain intact as they are made with a specific role in mind for the fire and rescue theme, although that doesn't stop them being recustomised to take account of changes in, say, uniform or my preferences.

I keep all my customs.  I don't have very many though.

Best regards,
