In the 3rd edition of Playmobil Collector it says:

"Until the founding of Playmobil Hellas in 1985, Lyra S A Toys was the official licence partner of Playmobil in Greece (1977)" (page 390).

This suggests that Lyra produced Playmobil from 1977 to 1985.

yes that's what i know as well that stopped producing toys in mid 80's but this lyra toy i have on the link above is a copy of the 5580 soldiers which were made in 1990 ::)

Or were the 5880 soldiers copies of the others?

Gordon is correct. Lyra stopped producing in 1985, as he quotes the Collector...

But as to the origin of this set's design.... ??? ??? ???

Maybe playmobil had produced the design and sold it to Lyra. Once Lyra was sut down, Playmobil decided to produce them in the victorian set....On the other hand, playmobil liked the Lyra design and decided to produce the victorian set.... 8} 8} 8} 8} 8} 8}

 what do you mean  playmobil liked the lyra disign?? you can't imagine in what quality were these klickys ten times worst than the antex ones

I know, i still have some lyra buckets!!!
Its easy to get a design, or mold, and reproduce a better quality product, in our case, better quality plastic!!!.

lyra might had the design but the quality of the plastic was poor. Playmobil had the quality plastic, so they took the design from lyra and produced another set with the quality plastic...

Still, this is a speculation...
