WOW  :o, that is great Andi! Thank you for the review showing this new set! Will you be showing us how well it flies in a future photo story review? Being constructed from Styrofoam, does it appear to be a sturdy design, or will it become damaged easily when it crashes?

Hi Bill,

oh i forget to tell you.

The gilder was build with EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) this are used in many modell throwglider.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polypropylene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polypropylene)

Expanded polypropylene (EPP) is a foam form of polypropylene. EPP has very good impact characteristics due to its low stiffness; this allows EPP to resume its shape after impacts. EPP is extensively used in model aircraft and other radio controlled vehicles by hobbyists. This is mainly due to its ability to absorb impacts, making this an ideal material for RC aircraft for beginners and amateurs.

Oh, I see! That's excellent, & a good thing in my case, due to multiple rough landings for one of these sets, due to being a future purchase of mine ! Was it expensive ????

I just noticed the glider doesn't have a clear plastic canopy/wind screen :hmm:! I wonder if that is so the Klicky pilot can eject faster ???! It also looks like PM forgot to equip the pilot with a parachute :o!

Hi Friends,

ok lets start !!

Weight 83 gramm (with Pilot)
Lenght 45 cm
Wingspan 50 cm

I search for a big place to throwing the first one are a little soft but at the second throw the glider flys more than 40 meters with a little wind.

He flys exact ahead.

Some times he crashed hard , the pilot catapulted away i need some time to search him and i thought oh my god the glider are junk but no damage , a little squeezed nose but this have no effect.

I can say perfect PLAYMOBIL PRODUCT !!! LOVE IT !!

100% Fun factor , i go the next days and buy the red one, too !!

ENJOY THE PICS !!

world greets

Ooohh!  I am so getting this.  As a glider fanatic 25 years ago, I can't wait to show the kids that "daddy's toys" can fly!  Great pics and video.  She flies nice!

Thanks for the great  review, Andi.  That looks like a mighty fine
glider!  I wonder if it is strong enough to launch with a rubber band?

Happy landings,
Jimbo

fantastic review andi, thank you.
i was really amazed by the flight speed.  8}
the glider design gave me some indication that it would need a lot of speed to stay in the air - small and short wings implying less lift at low speeds - but nothing like this.

How would you attach the launching rubber band, Jimbo ????
There would have to be an  attaching lug under the fuselage toward the front of the
plane.  If the fuselage is solid Styrofoam, you will need a full length stiffener from front to back so the ship doesn't pull apart on launching.  That will also alter your center of gravity so you will have to deal with that.  The wings need to be very secure as well so you don't leave them behind on launching... :-[.. Don't use too strong of a rubber band or you will end up
holding the tail feathers while the rest of the plane goes into the next county!

i just remembered that a throwing "lever" could be used to give extra power to the launch of the glider.  ???
like the south american "atlatl" (see picture).  :D
maybe this way the tip of the lever could be molded to fit the glider and not the other way around - minimizing the risks of altering the aerodynamic design of the glider.
  :hmm:

Cool idea Cachalote!
If anyone is wondering the pictures shows a man throwing a spear.
The Atlatl is a "holder" for the spear, and that when used (as Cachalote says) will boost the power of the spear.
I think it is a brilliant idea Cachalote, and if the glider already goes really far without one,
Who knows how far it will go with an atlatl! (Probably miles! :o )
