Title: NAPOLEON IN EGYPT ...
Post by: Richard on January 31, 2006, 18:41:50
Napoleon in Egypt!

The latest in a series by German artist Ralf Gemein (http://www.ralfgemein.de/seiten/wandmalerei.htm) ...
(Click on image below for more photos)

(http://www.playclicks.com/gardenwargaming/foro/files/pyramide_660.jpg) (http://www.playclicks.com/gardenwargaming/foro/viewtopic.php?p=2748#2748)

Ralf only uses original Playmobil parts without altering them in any way!

Superb! :wow: He really has a knack for customising using only swapped parts. :yup:

I think his results would convince even the most hesitant collectors to start disassembling their klickies! 8-)

I wonder if Ralf will eventually go to the next step and have a go at painting the figures too. :)

Since he is an accomplished artist, Sylvia, perhaps just exchanging parts to create what he wants may actually be more of a challenge for, Ralf ... ;)

But who knows ... ???

Certainly not me ... :)

Another one that I would buy.

I like the challenge he has set for himself by only using swapped parts.
They give mere lay people a chance to see what can be done by using their imagination

Do you all know this person? Do you know the story behind his cool playmobil inspired wallpaper (or paint?) he has put pictures of on his web site? Is this is a public space somewhere?

I think his artwork has only been exhibited in Germany so far. One of the murals (http://www.ralfgemein.de/seiten/lukas.htm) shown on the website is in the paediatric clinic of a hospital, so that is a permanent fixture. Some of the others probably are also. 8-)

Some of his paintings were on display at the Speyer Museum in 2005, as part of Playmobil's 30th anniversary exhibition.  A more detailed list of his exhibitions can be found on his bio page (http://www.ralfgemein.de/seiten/bio.htm). :)

Ralf,

You continue to amaze!

I am very sorry that the link to your wonderful Napoleon in Egypt theme, that you did a long time ago for Garden Wargaming, doesn't seem to be working.

So for all of the Playmofriends who have continued to enjoy all of Ralf's fantastic themes, here is the link to the treasures that Ralf shared with all of us at Garden Wargaming:

Ralf, thanks again for all the incredible creations that you've shared with us over the years.

All the best my friend. Please stay healthy and safe.

Wow. Again, so colorful...

Riding hats for soldiers? :o  They look great! (is that a flower on top?)

Love the purple ones, and the browns (duh, right?) - those are custom printed, right?  (and possibly more?)
Title: Re: NAPOLEON IN EGYPT ...
Post by: specialist on August 23, 2020, 16:43:32
Well, the riding hats combined with flowers on top are the closest I could get to the strange headgear the French invented in Egypt.
The toros are not custom-printed, they are "custom-erased". They all come from older knights. Just eraes four lines of dots.

:o  Doh! I didn't think of that possibility! Now I feel dumb  :-[ ::)

Great idea. Not doable here, since dotted torsos for medieval and company are a lot more interesting to me, but.... awesome.

I am always amused by Playmobil's water bottles (canteens). If I remember correctly, they made their first appearance with the American Civil War figures. The reason that they make me smile is because I think that they look like giant cashews.  :)
