Such fabulous pictures!!  The worshipping beavers (I can't see anything else since that topic started by Raven), the houses with the lake in the background... Truly gorgeous.

I hope you save a photo or two we haven't seen before for the Photocontest  ;)

Once I'm well enough I plan on going back to the same location & setting up my History-Theme ideas.

I like the fact that the friar can handle his ale, but the civilian is sparked out on the bench ;D

Baron von Steuben
Friedrich Wilhelm August Heinrich Ferdinand Steuben, known as the Baron von Steuben, was not only named after Friedrich the Great, the King of Prussia, but was also his godson. Steuben was a prominent military leader in the American Revolutionary War.

As can be seen by von Steuben's portrait, he bore a great resemblance to Playmobil's Friedrich the Great!

In 1786, a fort was built along the Ohio River & was named after von Steuben. It eventually evolved into the city of Steubenville, Ohio, where I was born & now live. In the 1980s, a reproduction of the fort was built on the original site & now serves as a historical attraction & learning center. This past weekend I began volunteer work here & will soon be a reenactor, wearing a costume & giving tours.

Today I took von Steuben's godfather, Friedrich the Great, to the fort, where he gladly transformed himself into Baron von Steuben for the camera.
