I agree that your system would make things better for collectors, but I don't see Playmobil doing it.  It is frustrating to have to purchase two (or more!) klickies to create a single figure for a custom army comprised if dozens of these figures.

I'd really like to see your British Colonial army when you're finished.  I created one out of the redcoat klickies and some tricorne hats from DS, but I'm not totally satisfied with the result, as these uniforms are really from the Napoleonic period rather than the Revolutionary War period.  At least my British Colonial officers are period correct.

It may seem hard to believe Playmobil will ever do it.
But with the collectors club, it may be a possibility.

After I heard it was a go I feel anything can happen.

My colonial army is not really going to be period...
More a group of people with guns that look really cool.
I am making them a scruffy band of Englishmen whose coats are not done up right
and who are ready to get in the mud and get dirty with some nasty weapons if they had to.
They will even have the angry faces!
So not really accurate... no...

I will have to contradict my last post.
My Colonial army may actually be period.
After I thought about it I realised I wanted a period army
More then a "cool looking" army.

So I did some research, and I made my army accordingly.
