Title: The Twenty Years War
Post by: TableKnight on April 28, 2019, 11:58:34
My first customs that I'd like to share with you all: Soldiers from the Pike and Shot era, inspired by uniforms from the 17th century ! While these aren't meant to be real life uniforms, they are klicky versions of soldiers from my worldbuilding project, specifically soldiers from the 'Twenty Years War'.

Hatalian Soldiers (https://i.imgur.com/guTBIWz.png) (Left to right: A commander, an officer, and a pikeman)
These soldiers were fighting for independence from the Kingdom of Donbile after centuries of occupation. Eli Gomez became the leader of the Hatalian nationals after he and a group of rebels seized the main keep of Gordou in July of 5368:2, proclaiming the Free City of Gordou and inspiring similar uprisings in cities across the country. The Hatalian nationals mainly filled their ranks with the local militia from the pro-independence cities across Hatalia.

Hello TK!
Your soldiers look great!
Hope you continue your “world building project”.
And, hope that you’ll continue to share your “project” here at PlaymoFriends!

Thank you Richard !  :)

Well I've got some more klickies to show, however from the opposing side

Donbilian Soldiers (https://i.imgur.com/LBHSZ12.png)
These soldiers garrisoned many forts and cities across Hatalia and fought against the rebels when Eli Gomez sparked uprisings across the country. As you can see, these soldiers are not as organised as the Hatalians I showed, and that's because these are not members of Donbile's standing army, rather they're soldiers sent to Hatalia to continue its occupation. The warm climate of Hatalia was quite different to what the Donbilians were used to, and so many of occupying soldiers wore less to cool down.

If I'm honest, I'm not as happy with these as I am with my Hatalian soldiers. Hopefully at some point in the future, I will make proper Donbilian soldiers to counter the proper Hatalian ones. I struggled to find arms like the ones I used for the Hatalian klickies that were blue and metal, so I had to resort to using the arms off of the old Roman Archer from a while back.

Those look great :)

Is there more to that worldbuilding project? Did you make everything up?

Awesome! Nice flags too  :woohoo:

Though I have to say the thought of tearing apart Roman archers is dismaying to me   :'(

Thank you Tahra and Macruran  ;D

Yep I've done a lot of stuff in this worldbuilding project that ranges from maps to world history to short stories set in it. I've got rough (and in some places more detailed) histories of the world (Tharr) from its Middle Ages to the Space Age and beyond :D I've been working on it as a passion project for quite a few years now, enough so that I can create Playmobil customs such as these based off of my notes and scenarios  :)

I can show quite a bit from it, but on this forum I'll probably just be showing a bit here and there through Playmobil customs and pictures (as its not strictly a Playmobil project). But below is a WIP map of the world in the Modern Era

I always try and only take apart duplicates I own, but in this case sacrifices had to be made :'(
But luckily I only really swapped out the archer's legs for some different ones, so it's almost still there

I'll be posting more backstory alongside each new custom klicky :)
(I have to apologise for the awful lighting again ::) )

(https://i.imgur.com/guTBIWz.png) Calisto Mendoza
Calisto Mendoza is essentially the main character in my tale of the Twenty Years War. After a failed uprisng in his home town of Guara, Calisto fled to the city of Gordou and became one of the first people to join Eli Gomez’s underground rebel group. He later became a prominent leader among the Hatalian Nationals, and certainly the most well known after Eli Gomez. Calisto took part in the Defenestration of Gordou and then helped take the main keep in July 5368. He was instrumental in a number of battles throughout the war, such as the Battle of Furzern and the First Siege of Gordou, and many agree that without Calisto, Hatalia would never have gained its independence.

For this klicky I used the body and head of one of the pirates from Set 4292 because I really like the colour of his jacket (it’s a shame about the stripy shirt he’s wearing underneath, but I don’t know of any torso's without it  ???) and then I used some yellow decals to make him seem more dignified. I changed the head as well so he doesn’t have angry eyebrows
Not a proper custom figure this time but it’s one of my favourites  ;D

He looks really nice (ok, I wouldn't use THAT hair :P ) - and fits the flag nicely!

Interesting bits about him and the world too..

The reason for the darker armour is because I ran out of the light ones ::) More light plate armour, morion helmets and also floppy hats are definately on my list to get  :D
I'm hoping to buy more parts soon in order to make more Twenty Years War customs, the only thing is that I'll have to stop myself from spending too much money on this  ;D

I know EXACTLY what you mean... I hate that I am having a clicking session and ... well.. there aren't enough bracers, helmets, neckpieces, torsos, whatever..

And running a large total made of "small" items...  oh, it's just .30 eur - better get me a dozen, cause I always need those.. and some of that... and a few of those.. .wait... 300!? How did THAT happen!?  Ok, let's see what I can cut...  :-[
