Custom engine
« on: April 11, 2006, 21:32:25 »
Hi playmo train friends.
I made this train engine some time ago when I had a small outdoor Playmobil railroad. It is a combination of parts from L.G.B., Playmobil, and Douglas Aircraft Co.(now Boeing).
The cowcatcher, bell, light,  and front truck, are  L.G.B.  The steam dome, driving wheel assembly, rear truck,  handles and  steps are Playmobil.  The smoke stack is part of a scraped part from a DC10.  Everything else is scratch built from  solid wood and plywood, and a bit of brass rod.   (That compressor thing on the left sid of the boiler is Playmobil as well).

Enjoy.

Well I have to say I think you are the only Playmobil customizer to ever use part of a real airplane in their project.  :yup: A great looking loco.

Really superb and, again, that nice attention to detail, for example in the logs.

That would be me! Now, Jimbo, that is just not fair. First you show off those wonderful vehicles, then the sailing ship, and now you hit me with this magnificent locomotive! It is a beaut! I imagine it looked magnificent pulling a string of cars along the tracks...

Thanks for sharing this, seeing it made my day! :D

Wow! This conversion is magnificent, Jimbo. :wow:
A real work of art.

It would have been great fun to watch her in action, chugging around on your track. If you have any photos of that outdoor layout, we'd love to see them too! :D
