Playmobil has released a catalog archive on their German site, with it planned to eventually make it to the other sites as well. From 1974 forward. The mid 80s were golden, sigh

Wow!!!!!! :inlove:
Aside from being a playmobil fanatic, as a graphic designer, this is totally fascinating.
Thanks for the link!!!

Are those the same ones that one would get in a shop. I do not recognize any covers but perhaps each country has its own .
Thanks for the link Tim, it's great to finally have something like this in digital. Colectobil and the db were great but if the company gets behind something like this perhaps it will get updated frequently. Now for them to make a better parts archive.

This is great!!! It all comes back to me when watching those old catalogue pictures. They're all so inspiring!
I'm really happy they did this.

I was going to say early nineties, but now I've been flipping through all the catalogues, I'd have to agree with you.

This is cool. Thanks for the information, Tiermann! :)

This is really fantastic. Thanks for the heads-up, Tim. So much fun to look through these old catalogs with all the beautiful dioramas.

Go to the bottom on the left you also have the product archive etc

Was actually checking this out earlier today as well, wasnt sure if it was posted here already.
Definatly a great addition. Looking through it made me realise a few interesting things however:
-The classic steck castles where available nearly twenty years.
-Oddly enough steck is not on the front of the catalogue that is first to showcase this new build system. I'd figure it would have been great advertisement.
-Western and occasionly medieval seemed to get two pages instead of just one. This explains why there was room for more variation. More was available at once.
-The best medieval batch released (including 3666) had nicer pictures of the sets in the first catalogue that shows them than what they used later.
-The castle maid of the 3666 who is often kissing men or drawing their attention when she walks by in my stories is seen hugging and presumably kissing a soldier.

oh, so many cute smiling faces. I must admit, when I saw the cover with the "Eskimos" I went to the box under the bed, and pulled them all out and set them up, albeit missing a few things. Such things happen when you let your children play with your toys! Thanks for posting the link.

That sure is a nice trip down memorylane...
We have a lot of the early stuff and then a gap of twentyfive years or more...
They have made such nice things. Have to catch up! 8}
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the link Tim. That is great and I saw some pictures for first time!!! Well done to playmobil for this excellent move!!
George. :)

Thanks for posting the link.
I'm enjoying looking through them all.
Glad they put them up. Maybe someday they will do an archive of all the sets.

Is that every set for each year?
Is there a link from each individual set to a parts list?
I keep forgetting about the re-released classic western building system set 4431 in 2004. I guess it might be one of the first re-release with klickies.

I don't think that it is entirely complete. Others would probably know more than me about what is missing though.
It does not appear that there are any links or extensive information about parts though. I notice on some of the newer sets if you hover over the "further information" on the right side that a list of parts in words appears though. No parts numbers or anything are there though.
-
it is going to be great if and when geobra makes it crossed linked to the parts and instructions and now the catalog. It all needs to be organized and cross referenced like Heathers DB. Look up a part and it shows the other colors and what sets in has been in.

(wrong thread :-[ )

I do hope they will do more rereleases like that.
When looking through all the catalogues, I realised it might enable us to make some sort of timeline of all the changes made over the years..
Like the introduction of western houses, steck houses, first female clickies, first black clicky, first kids, first babies, first fat clicky, first clickies with shoes, etc.
It's also interesting to notice that some themes developed fully pretty much straight from the start while others took a long time to find its stride.
To me the modern themes didnt seem to really take off untill much later, once modern houses where released. Western and Medieval seemed strong themes almost from the start seeing that after a few years western and medieval buildings where added.
It also seems those things have stood the test of time better, and fit in better with modern playmobil than most of the modern stuff. In a way things kind of got turned around in recent years, with modern themes being the norm and historic themes reveiving less attention and not nearly as much innovation. No new things are really tried with pirates, western and medieval themes while theres so much possible.
Quite a shame how that changed considering how important these themes seemed to have been in the early years.

Tim,
This link no longer works and with the new set layout I have not been able to find a catalog archive. If you could help me find them it would be appreciative.
Cheers,
James

The Product Archive is still there, but yes the catalog one seems to have disappeared. We can ask at the PCC about it.

Hello together,
has someone downloaded the pdf catalogs and can share it with me?
thanks a lot!

Dominik

While we’re at it, was there a thread here dedicated to vintage box art (couldn’t find it) or was it on FB?
