I thought it was about time to start a topic about the upcoming PLUS assortment!
Our friends of Amclicks posted some new pictures of the new PLUS catalogue. It appears that they are going to revive the Western theme as well, but with different figures!
Click here (http://amclicks.org/foro/novedades-playmobil/nuevo-catalogo-playmobil-plus-2022/msg87126/#msg87126) to see the pictures.
New PLUS sets:
70944: Fort Rocks (5 klickies included)
70945: Large Western farm (2 adult klickies and 1 child klicky included)
70946: Saloon (3 klickies included)
70947: Western store and studio (2 klickies included)
70948: Goldmine (3 klickies included)
1002: Extension walls for Fort Rocks
1003: Sheriff
1021: Large water tower (1 klicky included)
1022: Windmill (1 klicky included)
1023: 3 bandits (3 klickies included)
1024: Indigenous children (2 child klickies included)
As far as I can see the klickies, they all look amazing. I think it's a great idea they added the piano to the Saloon, they must have been inspired by some of the diorama's collectors have made in the past few years.
I think they also did something great with the station! To me it looks like a barber on the ground floor? That would be awesome!
I'm really curious about the looks of that cowgirl in the farm set!
Overall: it's going to be a great Playmobil year for the collectors!!!
-
:o
Well.. I COULD use another Colorado, right? :P
-
That is so great
I was not able to get enough Colorado stations or farm houses when they were out a few years ago.
I love the new colors of the Saloon and water tank
Finally someone over at Geobra had a keen eye for aesthetics

Absolutely! I also realised the klickies are in the right Western colours in comparison with those of the past few years! I can see a lot of tones brown, grey, ...
Can I say the PLUS catalogue is now the main catalogue?! It has already more to offer than the announced novelties of the regular catalogue... I'm kinda hyped to figure out the other PLUS sets!
I assume the Western sets will come in normal boxes as well, I really hope so!
-
I guess this time it’s not called “ Colorado Station. “
It’s a “STORE”. Might have to reprint a sign to say “MERCANTILE” or “TRADING POST” , a more westernly description
Wonder what’s inside ?
-
Have to agree it’s turning out to be an awesome time for adult PM collectors. The new colours look fabulous, here, and with the Victorian reissues.
I’m thinking I’d better get the Heidi grocer and classroom sets before they’re discontinued, they’d fit right in with the Western stuff.
I thought my days collecting PM were over, but now that I’m seeing all this and the amazing dio photography on IG, I feel like I’m being sucked in all over again.

2021-2022 is turning out to be a great playmobil year!
StarTreck, Victorian, Western, Austin Martin, MBZ SL, KIT, Asterix, Circus …..damn I need to sell some cars for more playmobil
-

I did that about two weeks ago! On (the German) Amazon they sell them for a great price right now!

I know right! They finally want our money!!! :o

I know right! They finally want our money!!! :o
Yeah, they want your money :-)
But it's not personal, it's not because we finally get "recognized", it's much more probable someone high up has been building a dream castle in the sky about reaching a - virtually impossible - turnover mark by 2024 (50th anniversary?). And to hypothetically reach this financial fata morgana they must have done the numbers and realized that the only way to reach that without seriously expanding development and investments is to get all the old stuff on the market again, "newly branded".
In my 18 years in the company i once in a while made suggestions for such re-releases, arguing it would be great for the "brand" and was looked at by a room of rolling eyes. It's ironic to see how they now get to the market because it would potentially be great for the "numbers". One word can make a difference :-)
Now, i do think it's fantastic that all these old great legends of PLAYMOBIL get a new spot in the sunlight, especially Western that got it all started in 1974. I love that they included new characters so that it even doesn't feel outdated at all.
-
New roof colors as well, brown for the store and blue for the house. The recolors make them all a great way to expand a western town even farther.

If there's one who knows their business, it must be you Bart. Always interesting to read your insights about the company!
I agree it's probably about the numbers, but from the outside it looks like they had a complete change of management. I could imagine a revival of one theme, but we have 3 classic themes now revived in the PLUS catalogue (Victorian, Western and Circus) and who knows what more they have to surprise us. Some sets of the Victorian theme also fit very well in the Western houses: the bedroom, the fireplace, ... I wonder now if the change of colour of the bedroom was done on purpose?
So, even though it is in the end about the numbers, they did an amazing and well investigated job on the PLUS assortment!
-
Is the term 'Amerindien' new to PM, or is that just in France?
-

Looks like the porch on the western farm also has a dark brown roof, which I think is new.
Yeah, they want your money :-)

It's a private company in a capitalist society. None of them care about you, they just want to extract money from you
-
Granted. But at least, if I’m gonna give them my money, let it be for something I actually want or else the money’s going elsewhere.

The PLUS offerings certainly have been great lately. I look forward to seeing any additional sets. :)

They do! It's nice to see these colours being used.
I need to sell some cars for more playmobil
Weren't you using them to store Playmobil at some point though?
-
I thought Victorian and Cicus would be it. Highly unusual for there to be this big Western assortment as well. Makes me wonder if they will do the other obvious classic group and have a large pirate ship back again too? At this point that and trains are the only things missing from a classic era relaunch.

A Direct Service/Playmobil Plus '3940' (US '3286') or '5135' in new (still realistic) colors would be nice, the latest big ships were rather crap. Unless they would decide to replace the 'Enterprise' with a 'Victory' in the regular 'very special assortment'.

ooh, i can already imagine a $500 pirate ship full of led gadgets and armed with photon torpedos :-)

What's going on?? 8} :o
I'm glad they're finally after our money after all, but... what about my budget :sorrow:

"Amerindian" has been used in the US-sphere for a while, though it's never been the official term. I'd guess some enterprising employee adopted it.

This absolutely boggles my mind. How can a company be so out of touch with their own product and market? ???

Imagine, if for decades you can achieve growth by just sticking to the core formula, you start to confuse the luxury you have to stay away from trends, licenses, digital innovation and niche markets as the reason for your success.
And that can go on for a long time, until it doesn't. Regarding digital innovation and projects like Novelmore, those where always considered as unnecessary distractions from the toy. Now the opposite trend arises, where they are chasing buzzwords and agile strategies without really understanding them, much less having any idea of how to integrate them into the brand consistently. Duck On Call is a symptom of that, if you want to innovate the junior range but eventually end up with a disguised copy of paw patrol, you are not doing it right.

Wow, this analysis is spot on. I've been shaking my head at so many of their decisions in the past two decades, it's like they're blind to the actual appeal of their own product.
-
Very helpful, playmobart. Another example of the Duck-on-Call (which hasn't actually flopped yet!) chasing the success of Paw Patrol would be Playmobil The Movie chasing The Lego Movie. IMO!

Although it may look like that, there was no chasing anything with the PLAYMOBIL movie, for a long time it wasn't discussed except at the very highest level, there wasn't any ambition with the movie and unlike LEGO which set up an 12 head strong internal team to oversee and support the production early on, with monthly visits to the studio etc, most employees at Geobra only learned that there would be a movie when they read in the press that the project would continue with Lino Di Salvo after the first director had jumped ship :-) The entertainment dept i worked at included, no one was involved there except our team leader who managed it in the shades like a covert operation.
Of course this complacency abruptly changed when a year before the planned release, we finally were allowed to watch an already half finished movie, and a sweaty panic ensued. It was horrible, from a brand perspective. Every design rule got broken ;-)
Still i am going to defend the production studio, they created what they thought would be a great PLAYMOBIL movie... But without any hands on feedback or guidance from Geobra for the first 3-4 years, it was only normal it shifted off track. Such productions are like oil tankers, if the boat leaves the port with a slightly wrong heading, it ends up on a totally wrong end of the world if no one touches the steering wheel. And then its really hard to make it do a 180 degree turn.

A very clear scan of the Western sets can be found on Playmo Info!
First picture (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=318352443624606&set=p.318352443624606&type=3)

- There seems to be a new cowgirl in the Saloon set as well!
- Roof of the farm appears to be blue and the that of the Store brown as Tiermann pointed out before.
Definitely check out that page (https://www.facebook.com/Playmo.Info), I assume they will upload more pictures of the new catalogue since it's already available in France!
-
Thanks for the link. I see that the Union soldiers have new uniforms, don’t they. And also, almost none of the klickies any neckwear? Much as I like many printing choices, I feel that contemporary klicky designs are too dependant on it unfortunately. But that’s an easy fix at least.
-
I like the water tower but I can’t see myself buying sets that I already have just for a few “new” figures and a few different colored parts.
-
Although....my train station does need some new floors, some of the tabs have broken off. I also need to replace a door, Darnit playmobil! You’ve done it to me again
-
Is that blonde soldier that comes with the fort female?
I have to ask, who comes up with a name like Fort Rocks? :eh?:
-
I have to ask, who comes up with a name like Fort Rocks? :eh?:
 That classic PM tin ear!
-

"Novelmore" - enough said? ::)
-
Is that blonde soldier that comes with the fort female?
The arm seems a bit bend, which could indeed indicate it's a female soldier! That would great and wanted for sure!
-

Oh Tahra, why did you step on my fragile soul :-)
Now, with all these projects the best names never make it. Usually you send a list of favorites and some lesser spare alternatives to legal for trademark and claims checking, and since lawyers don't take a 99.99 % chance, many of them don't make it, and usually you are stuck with the ones at the bottom of the list. With Everdreamerz we probably considered dozens of names per character and the choice eventually fell on the 5 names remaining that no toy competitor had any claim on.
With Novelmore, that trademark was picked in under 90 seconds from a conceptual presentation i prepared for the board, there was no qualitative discussion, they just looked at the calendar and realized the trademark had to be registered yesterday. Still think its a good name for the city, but i may have considered a few alternatives for the franchise.
-
Apparently you have to be a complete dunderhead to run a toy company. There is no other explanation. You read about this kind of thing all the time, PM, Hasbro, Mattel. The only company I can think of that has way more hits than misses is Lego. Nevermind their licensing successes, but also their homegrown IPs, Ninjago and Friends, were massive successes.

Exactly, and really i tried, they just don't get it.
-
The problem with creativity is, everyone thinks they’re creative, including (and especially) those who aren’t. It is what it is.

Sorry.. maybe it works in german.. To me, I can't get away from "novel more" - which... well... :-[ Like I said, love the stuff (gears and system WHY excluded, along with most of the drunk/high/sleepy eyes)... and the animated series RULES  It's sooooooooooooooooo beautiful.

Right - I can see how that is an issue.

That one I really dislike, but I guess it's just me. I can't stand that sort of mispelling - it was funny decades ago, when it was a joke. Again, just me, probably.
And a sore topic right now. At least they are appearing about...

Let's be fair, when Lego was tottering on the brink of bankruptcy they didn't actually know how much it cost them to manufacture each set, and it turned out they were selling numerous sets at a loss...

That was almost three or four lifetimes ago, if we’re really being fair. These past fifteen years at least, it’s been one homerun after the other, with an endless roster of superlative sets in all price ranges, a high percentage of winner licenses, the homegrown IPs, the massive Lego movie … PM has been in a slump since the mid-90s, that’s two decades already.
-

Yeah, and they also had forgotten there should actually be bricks in a lego set.
-

^this
Though I am not a lego fan, and I don't REALLY follow it, I see the cats that I cross in stores.. and there seems to be a LOT of pieces that are "stand alone", good for nothing else... more like playmobil than lego, really.
Of course lego seems aware of the fact LEGO collectors exist, besides the SW, LotR, and whatever else they have... playmobil seems to have forgotten that.. well.. maybe they found a clue buried somewhere now, with the victorians, and those GREAT west releases - in my opinion, the latter are better, since they offer the same but new, thus managing to ensnare also the collectors who have the first versions, which is not true for the victorians (my wallet is still happy with that)
-
And yet they outsell all the other toy brands left and right, and been doing it for years.
They must be doing something right ::) ::) ::) Useless arguing with brand fanatics I guess. It’s like arguing about politics and religion :P :P :P
-
Lego is a construction toy which will have appeal to adults
Playmobil is a play toy which has limited adult appeal
I personally want to play with toys and when you play with Lego they fall apart. To me it’s more of a toy model you display
Playmobil has German engineering and is usable
-

Well.. unlike CERTAIN companies, lego LIKES money. And they don't hide the stuff. Wherever you go, lego IS there.
I didn't mean to say lego is doing it wrong, sorry - except for the sick "girls are pink mindless idiots" thing, that was (at least on one cat I saw) WAY worse than anything that came from playmobil so far - I don't really have any knowledge of them, their product or their policies, except as a casual observer.
(I admit to being a playmofanatic with no reserve)
-
Lego appeals to adults because they market a bunch of products to adults. The rest follows.
Playmobil has FINALLY started doing it after years of managerial pigheadedness, and the results are promising.
How about that?
And to get back on track … WHEN are the rest of the victorian sets going up for sale?
-

True. :)

It is a bit strange that they didn't release them all... I am curious about the small house. My head says NO.. but my blue heart... well..
-
Also don’t forget Lego in early 2000’s …almost a billion $ in the hole
I don’t think Geobra is in the same position with how many adult fans there are for a whole company marketing rework
When does the whole “Plus” catalog come out ?
-
When does the whole “Plus” catalog come out ?
The first of January, more pictures of the sets will be available soon.

ooh, i can already imagine a $500 pirate ship full of led gadgets and armed with photon torpedos :-)
Simulating firing a broadside (about 50 cannons, in case of an HMS Victory) might involve some fire, smoke and noise. ;)
-

Absolutely - I just meant that Lego hasn't always been a paragon of good corporate governance. I do also think that it's success sort of covers up decisions that - in the abstract - seem a bit weird show the . I guess it shows the value of risk taking (personally I have no idea who Lego flowers are appealing to, but there we are ??? )
But I don't think it's fair to say that Playmobil has been in a 'slump' since the mid-90s in any meaningful way, and I don't think the figures bear that out.
True. :)
It is a bit strange that they didn't release them all... I am curious about the small house. My head says NO.. but my blue heart... well..
It is odd, even by the slightly chaotic energy of the Playmobil website. The steps for the small house will be useful for diorama builders I think. I don't have it from the first time around, so it's a totally justified buy
-
I guess what it shows is that everything starts with good, openminded management and the rest should follow.
And regarding Playmobil’s slump I’m a bit biased as a longtime (40 years and counting my god) consumer. As far as my tastes go, apart from the excellent mid-00s Romans theme, it HAS been a slump since the glorious days of the mid-90s. The fact that twnety years later, the reissue of sets from that era are still met with such enthusiasm shows how much love there was for them.

Open-mind-ness ….ok beyond Roman, Medieval or Pirates there are plenty of themes which have been doing well enough to keep the company making profits .
I collect all themes there have been plenty of sets to acquire
Lego is a brick construction toy, as long as there is a brick in the set it’s still classic lego
-
There have always been plenty of sets to acquire. Probably too many in recent years. If you take a look back to the 70s - 90s, many sets lasted literally years (five years was pretty much the order of the day) before being discontinued. Now it’s one or two year runs of rather mediocre sets generally speaking.
-

That's fine as an opinion, but it's just a design preference you have. It's probably shared by lots of us, but we are adults and are not who Playmobil is made for.
As an adult I think the western sets are beautiful, but as a child during the 'glory days' of the mid-90s I had zero interest. What I would have loved would have been the array of shops, and school sets, and all the other modern life stuff that they make now but was basically non-existent back then.

Western was different our favorite theme as cubs...
It's NOW that I go for all of them... ::)
-
Yes, there were a lot of Westerns on TV back then, both films and TV series, like The Virginian, High Chapparal, Clint Eastwood. A lot of stuff which probably wouldn't get shown (at least, not for children) in today's more enlightened times.
-
I imagine it’s only problematic if it portrays Native Americans and the American Civil war, and, strictly speaking, in that case, only to Americans.
It is what it is, and it doesn’t really matter to me either way these days, nor does it to my kid who is totally alien to that world/genre.

Those series I don't know... but there were cowboy movies (or cowboys and indians) every weekend, or almost, with the mandatory pirate (Errol Flynn, I suppose) / musketeers movie in between...
-
I have most of the western collection but the Native American sets are hands down my favorite. They’re beautiful, especially the sets from the mid 90’s, Camp Thunder etc. I love it all from the teepee designs with the little rugs, to the figures with all their different shields and painted horses. Personally, I think it’s some of Playmobil’s best work.

I totally agree. It may not always be ethnographically 100% correct, but it is evidently designed with a whole lot of love. Absolutely marvellous stuff.

Definitely check out the great furniture of the Western Store!!! :o :o :o
-
There's a nice amount of effort gone into these sets, in terms of thinking about the accessories and stuff.
Funny that I bemoaned the missing bureau in the Victorian dolls house sets, and it's turned up in the Western Store (are we calling it that?)
-
The buildings look great. The store is excellent. The apartment above is cool, but I may take the old camera and turn it into a portrait studio instead.
-
Is that the first time there is a classic western mustache?
The Union boys need some confederate men to play with
Really is that a red roof ?
Couldn’t they have put the headquarters all the way back, instead of 1/2 way into the fort? There is no play room with in the fort walls
Great stuff overall and I’ll be getting everything except the fort (just need all the klickies)
Thank you for the pictures
-
You’ll be able to buy extension parts to increase the size of the fort, I’m sure.
Klicky designers these days seem to have something about tangible neck accessories, invariably opting for printed instead. Doesn’t look right for me, they look naked without something around their neck.
-
Is that the first time there is a classic western mustache?
Nope, I believe this was the first one, from set 9108 (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=9108):

Yip, the extension walls come in set 1002 as mentioned in the beginning (https://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=17592.msg317881#msg317881) of this topic, hereby the detailed picture:

A Direct Service/Playmobil Plus '3940' (US '3286') or '5135' in new (still realistic) colors would be nice, the latest big ships were rather crap. Unless they would decide to replace the 'Enterprise' with a 'Victory' in the regular 'very special assortment'.
Woah-ho-ho!!!
For THAT, I would crack open the wallet!

Is the fishing stick (?) in 1024 new?
The skatepark is a fun set, I like the chain link fence

Thank you! I thought it was likely a repeat. Anyway, it's a nice item (nice set all round, I'm always fond of those little landscape sets even though I hardly ever end up getting them  )

Thank you for all the updates!
Two new Sports and Action sets:
Are those legs crippled too? I really like the klickys, but only if normal.

Oh, that's too kind, but thank you! I'm just sharing my excitement with all of you by posting the pictures <*)

Hell YA , love the updated western
The maroon color of the water tank is a great choice, simulates Redwood of the pacific west coast
The maroon of the store is a bit odd, I think darker silver would have looked like corrugated tin
Thank you again for the updated pictures!

According to the Belgian website, the Western sets will be released in April:
https://www.playmobil.be/nl/westernfort/70944.html
Apart from that, it's now also possible to order the NHL hockey players outside the US:

The hockey players were strangely available in iberia shortly after they appeared..

The hockey players were strangely available in iberia shortly after they appeared..
Wow, perhaps there are many NHL fans in Spain and Portugal? :P
I guess they went the same route as with the Gods, for a long time (apart from Greece) they were available in the Benelux, before they made them available in other countries. I think they're doing right, on the other hand, I have no interest in NHL at all... But I'm happy for all those that like ice hockey!!!
-
Wow, perhaps there are many NHL fans in Spain and Portugal? :P
My only explanation is that they have NO idea ice hockey is NOT the same as roller hockey? Which IS big here. ::)

It would be nice if it worked the other way around also. I really want multiples of Heidi and the recent circus themes Europe got

Is or will be there a pdf catalog with the PLUS items (similar to DS catalog in the past)?
-
Is or will be there a pdf catalog with the PLUS items (similar to DS catalog in the past)?
According to klickywelt-user TheCount83, who just spoke with the service-hotline, the PDF-version of the PLUS-catalogue will be released "soon" and the printed version will, as always, be part of the main catalogue.
-
Thank you!
just to note that in Greece there wasn't any version of the PLUS catalog available last year (2021), either pdf or print (!!!!) part of the printed catalog. The DS catalogs were available in both formats in previous years (e.g. 2020).
So we have to rely on other countries catalogs to know what/when to expect...
-
Today I received the paper version of the new PLUS catalogue, I hereby can confirm that there are NO other surprises than those we already knew: the Victorian theme, the Western theme, the circus theme, the new Fun truck and the skatepark.
-
I made a list on Playmodb with all the sets from the new PLUS catalogue:

Price of the small Victorian House: 129,99 euros.

403 is the error code, not the amount of sets ;) . Sometimes error code 403 appears because there are too many people watching Playmodb, so the server crashes.
The amount of sets is indeed 150.

I compared the PLUS-catalogue of last year and the one of 2022 and here's a list with all the sets that are not included anymore: click here (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=6356%0D%0A6545%0D%0A6121%0D%0A6574%0D%0A6575%0D%0A9815%0D%0A6473%0D%0A6538%0D%0A9817%0D%0A6540%0D%0A6532%0D%0A6541%0D%0A6315%0D%0A6318%0D%0A6395%0D%0A9834%0D%0A6539%0D%0A7006%0D%0A7654%0D%0A7363%0D%0A7998%0D%0A6420%0D%0A9833%0D%0A6267%0D%0A7368%0D%0A6595%0D%0A6593%0D%0A6494%0D%0A6463%0D%0A7785%0D%0A6680%0D%0A6496%0D%0A6215%0D%0A6214%0D%0A6546%0D%0A6427%0D%0A6270%0D%0A6279%0D%0A6410%0D%0A6277%0D%0A6587%0D%0A6588%0D%0A6589%0D%0A6590%0D%0A9149%0D%0A9523%0D%0A9150%0D%0A9524%0D%0A70214%0D%0A70213%0D%0A70218%0D%0A9804%0D%0A5626%0D%0A6571%0D%0A6572%0D%0A5338%0D%0A5399%0D%0A70219%0D%0A9819%0D%0A5130%0D%0A4686%0D%0A9816%0D%0A9847%0D%0A7931%0D%0A9818%0D%0A6388%0D%0A9850%0D%0A9851%0D%0A9820%0D%0A9852%0D%0A6754%0D%0A4885%0D%0A5592%0D%0A5593%0D%0A5976%0D%0A5588&title=Your+Set+List&pics=on&sortby=setnum).

(and all the pics loaded.. maybe it IS hit and miss ;) )
The gods.. :( And the car wash, that I FINALLY bought, though I should not. And the red house...
-
The Gods are still (seemingly) available on the UK online store (and the other discontinued sets have been taken off already) so I tried to snap them up while I could
-
The buildings look great. The store is excellent. The apartment above is cool, but I may take the old camera and turn it into a portrait studio instead.
I really like that idea, Tim!
I think they've done a great job with all the Western sets, especially with the furniture. I'll likely be purchasing one of each.

The FunPark Flat Bed Truck (70959) went on sale today! ;D
I find it peculiar that Geobra chose that particular truck. In the states it’s called a “low boy” used for moving extremely heavy, large or tall equipment. In this case the load is a converted shipping container. I really like the shipping concept as there are so many possibilities but a different truck is more suited for the job .

American thing maybe? That truck and trailer unit is pretty typical of cargo trucks in New Zealand and I assume Germany. America seems to have more trucks with long engine compartments.

I guess I didn’t explain correctly .
It’s the trailer not the truck. We in the US have plenty of cab over trucks (our county is big so sleeper cabs with the engine out front of the cab are more common)
The trailer is a low boy trailer , and shipping container trailers are different

No, the PM trailer is a shipping container one.
With the "lowboy" the load area is at or below the height of the top of the wheels while the PM one has the load area above the top of the wheels.
That PM trailer is common in the UK and pretty well world wide for shipping containers. For a short time the design was simply a skeleton of a central spine and two or three cross pieces, one at the front and one at the back and one in the centre, but these had the problem of the trailer and load twisting around the central spine and the trailer and load overturning as the vehicle negotiated roundabouts and so went out of use.
Strangely enough, this happened not because the truck was going too fast but because it was going too slow for the torsional forces operating no the trailer.

No it’s not
This is a low boy trailer, you’ll notice the stepped down deck for tall loads and the ramps for loading equipment

Geobra used to get it correct but lately they have been using the low boy for shipping containers .
-
I guess I didn’t explain correctly .
I don't pay much attention to the truck sets so I thought you were saying the picture in your post was the lowboy trailer unit but you were showing what you felt should have been in that set. Confusion resolved. :elf:

This is the picture I was referring to and to which I assumed you were referring.
Your other, later, post does, indeed, show a PM low loader, as we call them in the UK.
-
I feel like watching a documentary on Discovery Channel :D
I bought the new truck 3 times last Friday and I was really lucky! The Benelux team forgot to exclude it from the 22% discount deal! Got mine for € 31,19 / each ;D. Despite, they noticed as well, the price is again € 39,99 / each.

Thank you bml!

Hmmm, apart from all the good stuff isn’t everything “meh” ? :P
The re-colored western and circus, and the re-issued Victorian to me this is one of the best plus years in a while . Also would all the animals be in there or the regular catalog ?
-

I'm with you there. There are essentially no new sets for the themes that I'm interested in (mostly Medieval, historical, and fantasy). Some of them, like the Viking sets, are still excellent though.
-
Our friend Playdalai from Amclicks (http://amclicks.org/foro/novedades-playmobil/nuevo-catalogo-playmobil-plus-2022/msg90486/#msg90486) released information about some extra PLUS sets that will be released in the second half of 2022:
Boxed (!) sets:
- 70941 : House for 'My city'
- 70953 : Medieval dungeon
- 70954 : Medieval bakery
- 70957 : Yellow medieval house
Sets in bags:
- 1025 : Bakery furniture
- 1026 : Baby store furniture
- 1027 : Furniture for home from 'My city'
- 1028 : Furniture for office
-
Thanks for the update!
I'm hoping the Bakery will be a version of 3441, because the wall with the hinged shop opening hasn't been available for ages and gives a nice bit of variety. I wonder if the dungeon will offer any new parts in terms of torture devices?!
I'm slightly confused by 70941, since the 'regular' townhouse 70014 is still in the line-up
-
Hoorays, more great sets !
Thanks for the update
Please have a stretching table type furniture with lots of chains
-
A boxed dungeon set could be quite a good one!
I'm interested in the yellow house and bakery too. <*)
-
Medieval dungeon? :o Are they going to risk a torture set?

Now there would be a theme to do but not sure how the six fingered man could be represented. Maybe a regular hand with an extra digit sticking up?

Thanks for the heads up!!
That guy at the window... no comment. I DO hope they fix that mess - but... probably not, right?
The prison is gorgeous
I'm afraid it will be overpriced - and after all, nothing really new there, since the bell is still missing - but it IS beautiful, and my fingers itch to buy it :P
Well, the new part is the prisoner - really nice klicky  - shame about the missing neckpiece on the guard, he looks rather naked... Sticker is nice too.
-
Oh wow! I can't wait to get those medieval sets! I'm so excited that they're releasing steck sets that actually include klickies! I can't wait to see what the bakery looks like. This really has my hopes up that we will yet see a re-release of 3666, or maybe even a brand new steck castle? This is great news!
That guy floating by the window...

Check it out! More pictures here: https://imgur.com/a/rziTSoI
Edit: I'm not going to bother posting pictures of the house, but they did fix that floating klicky.
-
Oh! Thank you, bml87 (and Playdalai), for this splendid news. I never got the yellow house, so hope this new release will be faithful to the original. I like the Schuldturm makeover, and am curious to see what they will do with the bakery. Excellent news, wonderful, thanks.

If you're on a Mac or Linux, you can check for new images with this shell script I wrote. You can either look at an entire range of set numbers, or you can specify certain ones to look for like I did in the line that's commented out. It pulls all of the images for each set in the list if they're available. Often, new Playmobil sets will show up in their image resources before they've posted the sets to their store. <*)

Isn’t this now re- re-release? First 3445 then 6412 now this . Yes it now had two klickies but hardly the original chrome nurembugish guards and no bell or hanger or signs or flags or lanterns
I’m all for more stecks as that was/is the best building system in my opinion

Yeah, you're right. I wasn't collecting Playmobil at the time those were released though, so I'm glad they're releasing it again. I also like the flat silver helmet a lot more than the original chrome ones. I would have loved to have had the bell, although this one is also interesting because in the alternate pictures, they show it used as a tower to lock the prisoner in, like Ivanhoe. So that could also be fun.
-
Ohhh how cool!! I've been hoping for this for a long time!! I'm already starting to save money!! And hope Playmobil releases even more medieval buildings, and as jodawill said, of course it would be absolutely fantastic when the 3666 came back on the market! Ohhhh I'm really excited about it! :yippee:
People at Zirndorf are you reading along?! Please bring the whole 90s knight theme back to market! <:>
-
I still don't understand why they couldn't have included the two plastic parts that the bell attaches to. Then people could've sourced a small bell from somewhere.
This is a really nice set though and I love that they've gone with a 90s armour print for the soldier and the inmate looks really good.
Would like the rooster to be brown or grey rather than the original yellow. Would also be nice to have had the Nuremberg shield on the sign but I guess this makes it more universal hence the lack of writing.
Did they change the Nuremberg shield on the previous re-release? I didn't get it because it was expensive for the parts it had, the museum was much better value.
-

Exactly , i guess we’ll just have to make it ourselves
It might have been a mold issue and the rereleased set was already expensive enough . Making a mold or two for a bell part the average person wouldn’t even notice might have pushed the price point over the edge ???

I wonder if it's this - rather than the bell itself - that is why it's not been included in either release.
Anyway, it's great that the little balcony is back, a feature I really love.

May we have more please

Yes, I’ll be getting as many of these as possible . I’m hoping to remove the gold graffiti on the rocks and camouflage the rock crystals . The bats, trees…. pretty much everything is useful , even the hipster warthog

Set 70953 looks like a fantastic source of parts! :D

Not.
At least not now.

Honestly, who would even buy that set? The house is completely empty.

IF it wasn't system WHY... me. Maybe.
System WHY houses have no appeal to me (generally). If it was Steck/System X, and not too expensive, I could see the appeal (I am struggling to persuade myself I DO NOT need the new bell-less bell tower... ::) )
I am pretty sure most collectors don't lack a bunch of different stuff to put inside an empty house... well.. or an empty house to put stuff in... :P
-
I mean, Im gonna buy it but I have plenty of interior stuff
-
Honestly, who would even buy that set? The house is completely empty.
I mean, of all the weird sets Playmobil have (and do) sell, an empty dolls house is hardly strange.
-
I hardly see it as strange, it also lures the buyer into needing to purchase accessory furniture sets
I prefer they didn’t add furniture and double the price. This way I can decorate the interior how I want to when I build my modern city dioramas .
Yes system x would have been preferred
-
Yes system x would have been preferred
It's an odd one because I can't see any logistical reason for it not to have been System-X compatible. I actually liked the My Little Town range, but it came and went so quickly - but I thought the stackable buildings were a nice idea, and of course compact

Thanks!
Nice that they included the big oven in the set (I think it's mostly been in Christmas sets or in pastel pink so far - so nice to have it in stone). Cute figures
-
I'll definitely grab a couple of those bakeries, but it seems odd to me.. I don't know how long people have been wearing those hats, but it seems out of place. It seems more like a modern tourist destination than an actual medieval bakery. And the fancy signs are weird too. Hopefully it will be simple to exclude them.

I did think the signs with the prices on were a bit 'modern' - and the inclusion of the chef's hat has always seemed a bit peculiar, but that dates back to the original bakery 3441 (and in fact the medieval houses were always a bit ambiguous as to whether they were historic or set in modern times)
-
The vehicles and bakery are great! :D
-
Thank you for the picture links
Too bad no new colors for the Victorian vehicles
The bakery looks like a hybrid of historic and modern
I’ll definitely be getting many of all of these
-
It's nice to see that oven in gray. The bakery looks like it's in a "historical village". Modern prices, but old world ambiance for the tourists.
I guess I'll look forward to the truck, since I don't have a green one. I'm on the fence about the car. I have the original, but those are different klickies.
-
Well, I find it extremely lame that the cars are the same color. There will probably be slight variations, but... WHY?!
If different, there would be no choice.... like this... well. We do have the original (and the car twice, since we had one each)..

Yeah, I forgot that the original had that hat also. To me, this set will just be a parts pack. I also love the oven, as others have mentioned.
It actually reminds me of the medieval village in Gatlinburg. They have a shop called "The Donut Friar," which sells the most amazing donuts I've had in my entire life. They're crispy on the outside, and they're very light on the inside, so they don't make you feel gross after you eat one (or two!).

I'm glad they're releasing the car in this color because when I was a kid, I had a Power Wheels car that looks almost exactly like this one. My grandparents actually still have it in their shed. I think it's pretty cool. I think the truck looks great too. But I can imagine that for collectors who already have these, it would be much preferable to have some diversity so not every car on the street looks exactly the same. However, I do wonder how much variation there actually was in car colors back then.

Apparently you could have any colour as long as it was black! ;)

They seem so... clueless.... I mean, that car in black, a GREY wizard... GAH.
-

That was Henry Ford on the mass-produced Model T Ford, which the Playmobil car certainly isn't. Cars like this one were hand built and often had painted and the customer specified the colour.
-
Love the new yellow timber house
It looks like it has 4 dormer windows
-
I just noticed that the yellow house is called "Medieval Home 1." I suppose that means we're getting more than one soon? :o
-
Are they maybe counting the Bakery and '2' ?
Someone posted pictures on here from the Medieval Guard Tower, and it comes with a leaflet advertising it, the bakery and the yellow house. I expect if there was another one coming soon then it would have been included in the leaflet.
-
8} So many nice new sets, loving the western sets & the medieval buildings.

There's at least one review for the tower on youtube.
-
The bed is a real mistake. That sort of tube steel frame bed is 20th century for sure. :hmm:
-
Actually 19th century for metal bed frames, around the 1850s - so ok for Western or Victorian themes. If you are using the house as Medieval than yeah, it is out of place. This style of house still exists though so any time from the Medieval era on is ok. Keep in mind the end wall of the house and bakery both have 1976 in Roman numerals carved into it. So actually it is a modern house built or updated in the 1970s, so the bed is fine :)9
-
Convincing reasoning!
-
I love these medieval sets, especially the houses. Do you know by any chance when they are supposed to get released? The prison is already one sale (at least where I am) but the other two not yet.

But then they put "History" on the box.
Her hair is modern, but she's apparently using a taper candle for lighting. I'm assuming that, like the bakery, this is some sort of "living museum" that recreates the old timey ambiance for visitors. A wood bed would be cuter though.
-
I love the two medieval sets that can be customized in terms of their interiors and I agree that the bed is looking cheap and basic, a let down for a set which is otherwise great
-
Just to say that the Bakery and Yellow house have appeared on the UK site, at £30 each (a quick scan through my Order History shows I paid £35 for the previous bakery back in 2012)
-

Well, that's interesting. Not many prices are going down.

I've discovered a set 1028 - nothing very exciting, just some random office furniture, but it highlights the 'quirks' of the Playmobil system. I can't see it in the catalogue, doesn't seen to show up in the generic 'Playmobil Plus' section of the catalogue, or in City Life. Makes you wonder what other sets are hidden out there!

Random? It looks like a complete office set up.

1028 is not a 'normal' set number, even for a promotional set. Interesting!
-
Random? It looks like a complete office set up.
I meant it's quite a run-of-the-mill Playmobil Plus set (apart from the inclusion of figures) rather than anything particularly unusual that there would be a reason for it be to appearing mid-way through the year
-
They seem to have [reused?] numbers from 1021 - 1030. Nice find.
-
A rather complete little set ,
Now if only the design (or whom ever they are called) department would take this amount of parts detail into every set
The point being you don’t see a rotary phone in the modern office or a wooden garden chair
-
I think it's intended to go with 70941 the large building for the My Town series, now only in add-ons.
There is also more extensive house interior for there same building 1027
These should show up in City Life with the new interiors for the shop building 1025 Bakery and 1026 Baby Shop but they don't
Another part of their website missing sets by not getting them into the right categories. You can find them with a direct number search, or by slowly going through the entire Plus category.
-
I am sure it has come up, but I can't find it :-[
Is the new yellow house (70957) the same as the older ones? And the bakery?
I am TRYING to be reasonable... :P

By a "rotary phone", Ras, do you mean one with a circular dialler? If so, there aren't any in the picture. As for wooden garden chairs, you can still buy them in Europe.

Any update on the 2023 Plus catalogue?

Any update on the 2023 Plus catalogue?
I think it usually emerges after the main catalogue - this thread was started at the beginning of December so I guess that would be a guide for when we'd expect the new one. Be interesting to see if they keep up the sheer quantity of stuff being added.
