Title: Impressions from Playmobil Convention 2007 in Wolfsburg (Germany)
Post by: Little Jo on April 01, 2007, 20:05:29
Puh, just right back from the Playmobil Convention in 2007.

This year I didn't take that much pics. Anyway, the German board has created some good threads at their forum where the pics from the different dioramas are grouped by dioramas. I'll post some of my pics the other days (in case I made it in a special view angle that isn't already depicted by the Playmobil-Portal photos).

Click on the pics in the following threads of Playmo-Portal to enlarge them.

Thanks for the links Jochen. Those layouts are simply amazing...  :wow:

I really like the custom fire sets Flori has made as well.

Many thanks indeed, Jochen, for the update and the photos.  It really is very good of you after what must have been a very busy weekend.

Needless to say, my favourites are flori's fire dioramas.  The idea and the customs and the attention to detail are excellent.

There's a nice advert for Playmofriends with the T-shirt in the nessie picture.

Thanks again, Jochen.

nice pictures, jochen...
I will add some of mine as well...
...as soon as I have harvested through the 211 pictures I took.  8}

WOB was truely amazing. I have never never ever seen so many
large and high quality dioramas in one place...  :wow:
On top of all, Brunos and Michaels Diorama definitely made me speechless.  :o
It looked like a decads project, but why then had you other things on display last year?  :hmm: ;) :wow:

..and, Jochen, nice to have you met in person, finally..   :)9
(there is no coffee-drinking emoticon..)

Sylvia! Great to see at least your avatar in Wolfsburg!
Hope to see you in person at another place someday...   ;)

best
socrates

The dioramas look wonderful! Thanks for the photos and links, Jochen. :)9

Showing the firefighters through the ages was a really novel idea. Particularly clever was the use of the coal pieces as charred rubble in the destroyed building. I have a big bag of those from the DS (because I didn't realise they came in such large quantities ) and was wondering what they could be used for since I don't have the container ship. Now I know! ;D

Very nice of you to take 'little me' with you!  :D

Hope to see you in person at another place someday...   ;)

Me too! ;)

Thanks for the Pics and links Little Jo.

It's all good stuff great scenes a few bits I have seen before but it's nice to see them again.

My favourite this year has got to be the car plant, it's an unusall thing to make a custom of. I like to see new creations and those car transporters are amazing custom pieces.

I've just followed up the links in Jochen's first post and I'm speechless at some of the dioramas.  The car factory is quite unbelievable in the quantity and detail.  Macgayver's and Brubil's airport/travel theme diorama I like very much too, and the Arctic one, as well as the ones I've praised in earlier posts.  But all of the dioramas have points of interest and deserve congratulation, it's just that some appeal to your interests more than others.

I think it must be really daunting to go to something like this because of the sheer scale and range of things to see.  You really need to be able to spend days there, looking in and out so you are always fresh and ready to appreciate what comes next.  And how do you know if you've missed something!

I spent a long while last night closely studying all the photos too.  :)

Macgayver and Brubil did an awesome job creating Playmo representations of different countries from all around the world. I especially like the Spanish and Mexican dioramas - quite ingenious use of building elements and accessories!

There's simply far too many wonderful details to mention them all. I agree with Gordon; it must be quite an overwhelming experience, being surrounded by so many fantastic displays and only having a limited amount of time to look at it all. 8}

Btw, are you a fan of “The Munsters,” macgayver? Those customs are just perfect! ;D

I've taken a closer look at the Playmo-Portal posts. Did you notice the water coming out of the bucket in Flori's first diorama section?
In the port scene there is a custom of a crane with the mobile crane mechanism attached to the top of a houseboat. Very interesting use.

Yes, I noticed it and took a personal close-up of this. It's made with hot glue. Very good idea I should keep in mind.
