Hey Everyone,
Where are you? I have noticed a severe decrease of topic postings on this forum! Although I have seen some members involved on other forums, why isn't anyone talking to one another here? What's wrong? Just curious!
-
I think there's nothing necessarily wrong, Bill.
Some people are waiting for new releases, others are working in something else ... It's a hobby, after all, to most of us.
However I've spent a little of my time at other places, I always pass by Playmofriends, and keep eye in here. As well as I'm preparing to shoot a sequence of my pirates' story ... But things happen when things happen, eh? ;D
Anyway, what's new, in the playmo' world?
I'm sorry, you guys ... Actually, I have at least one new topic to publish, but I've been a little slow with it. (As well as with two other threads of storytelling, reasons already explained, somewhere else ...)

What's wrong?
However, once you mentioned it ... I always thought that there's little profitable interaction in Playmofriends. I found in it a wonderful place for publishing my photostories, and I keep doing it, from time to time. Perhaps, if the public manifested anything, not only to flatter, but to criticize as well ... I was talking with a friend, at work, another day, and he asked "and do they say interesting things about what you write?" and I told him that I never had any actually INTERESTING commentary. Always flattering, "I like it". I keep doing out of liking it (it's my main hobby, after all ...), but it would be a 1000 times more interesting, if people made intelligent commentaries and gave ideas. I have my own, but, why not more interation? Writing together? People saying kinds of stories they'd like to see and hear ... Maybe I wouldn't do them, but someone else might.
I don't know.
As well, there's this world crisis, people might be buying less playmo, so, there's less things they want to talk about. But I don't think it is so.
-
I visit here at least a couple times a week, but I haven't been posting as much because others aren't posting as much either and so I assume it's a chain reaction. That said, I think the reason this forum hasn't been extremely active lately is that we're all waiting for new releases to talk about.
Regarding photostories and commentary, I tend to look at photostories that are of interest to me (i.e. historical themed ones) and I will comment, both with positives and constructive criticism.

Hello Bill,
I have been experiencing machine difficulties lately, both my main and backup laptops are experiencing difficulties and I just located my old 'let's hook it up and see what happens' laptop that I have not used in ages and by golly here I am (for what that is worth ;D ).
The only Playmo relaated action I have seen is the dearth of product at any of my local Target stores although everyone I have talked to says no one is stocking any more product than they need to.

it's this cold spring bill. :-[
... but it will be made a glorious summer soon, no doubt. :yup:
... all we need is a "son of york" that decides to replace the entire playmobil design department and everything will be great again. >:D
i guess the same is happening on other forums (klickywelt seems to be "iced" also). :hmm:

For myself the reason being absent the last days was the wonderful warm and sunny weather the last days (still ongoing :D) and the fact that easter holidays made me stay in the garden and being busy on the first gardening activities this year ...
-
we have been very busy with Wolfsburg
Pictures will follow as soon we have recovered a bit
And as Little Jo we have been trying to catch some sun when we could
-
I've been busy doing work about the house and garden and also winding down the work I do for my former employer (retiring completely), plus I've had some health issues to follow up. However, I've not been idle and have got a number of reviews and customs and another Maisie and Fred contribution (from November last year!) to post when I can make a minute. The sun is just coming out here and so, after 10:00 coffee, the garden calls again, so it may not be today.
-
I've been pondering a few projects..custom aircraft for klickeys.
The economy has dampened the buying of Playmobil a bit. I did get
the great little deep sea diver yesterday at my favorite Mom and Pop
toy store. (4479).
We went to a garden railroad open house Sunday...It was very nice :yup:
I am also working on a 1/6 scale German halftrack. I must confess, I have a
slight interest in the 1/6 scale figures and vehicles that abound around here.
Can't wait for the new Playmobil to come out!
Takin' it easy,

Truth is that I feel I've been much more enthusiastic :-[ ...
(Lots of projects delayed .. ay, not lots, but the three of'em.)
Again, it's only one thing I have to do in my free time, and I have to share the dedication with other things ... Some here as well: they have their gardens, I have my mandolin. Among other things. (It's all right as well to say that I don't even dedicate as much to the mandole as I'd have to :( ...)
[The good news is that I empied my desk, so as to shoot open sea stories. I've .. One playmofriend sent me a transportation that will allow me to go after treasure :D :) ]

I'm glad to see you all back here again! I just got out of the hospital today after having a heart cath, & angio plasti procedure yesterday. I couldn't get my laptop to connect to WI-FI there so I wasn't able to check on you all!
I was worried about if everyone was OK! It's good to see the familiar faces on here again :yup:.

it´s very unfair of you bill not to tell us that you were going to be absent for some time - this way nobody could take advantage of all the liberty permited by the temporay absence of a moderator... >:(
despite this big lack of respect for this entire forum, i wish you the best recovery - it´s a pleasure to have you back.

I hope you are feeling up to snuff soon Bill!! I don't know what it is about these laptops lately. ??? Glad you are back and hooked up.

Thank you all for the positive tidings, yes, even you cachalote ! I knew I could trust you all to behave :yup:, but the truth is I went to the doctor for some symptoms, & was sent straight to the hospital with no chance of escape to let you all know my predicament!
I'm glad there was no need to send anyone to time out while I was being held captive, job well done, I'm proud of you all ;)!

whew! it sounds as though you went to see the doctor just in time. a heart cath and angioplasty is quite a procedure. take time to rest, take time to relax, take time to heal.

Do take care Bill
I've been pretty away from Playmo for a while now. I'm keeping up on my site pretty well but haven't done much else. I've gotten involved in more digital artwork and that's taken a lot of my time but also been very rewarding (personally not financially). hmm I remember a while back some threads about 3D Playmo models being done, probably on the German board. I should probably look that up, now that I have all the software to play with them. When the African releases show up on this side of the ocean I'm sure my attention will perk up :D

Nice to see you back, Tim.

It's great to see you back with us Tim :)9! And as for everyone else, don't think you're not missed when you don't participate on this forum, because you are ;D!

(I ran out of internet, for a couple of days (more, actually). Modern world is getting too strange. I can't tell how I felt "away" because of a week offline ... It's probably good, though, to take such vacations, when a guy's stressed out, with too much work.)

'Glad to be back

I've been spending a LOT of time on Twitter :-[ ( ;D ), so, I've been seeing Heather's face quite a lot, but, well ... I haven't been here much :( I miss you :'(

To be honest. It's extemely busy over here.
Wilma has started to work part-time. Kids are growing up and to make matters worse - we are having some problems dealing with some old issues.
That will pass. I haven't forgotten my plastic friends ... I've even started to buy the Ghost-pirates (somehow they are growing on me) en bought the theatre as well ...
But I am simply lacking time and energy to come here...
But don't worry - I haven't forgotten about my oasis here and I will be back!

Nice to hear from you Mark,
I've been getting more active again lately, with a site update for the 2010 release list so far, and the Egyptians are here finally.
The fire theme is looking really nice. I just finished doing the crops and lists for PlaymoDB on the remaining sets, I'm sure Heather will get them up as she has time. If anyone needs any parts info from that just let me know I have all but the helicopter.
-
There you go :)
I literally put Playmofriends in my agenda 8} ... Otherwise it won't happen.
It'll be (I hope) on Sunday afternoons! :yup:
See you, guys!

hello again everyone, finally checking in to say hi again, i have not had much time to join in lately, been working too many hours at the real medical center, and my playmocity medical center has been neglected, and the new construction projects are still in the planning stages.
i also wanted to share two links, found while i was cruising ebay checking the victorian prices: i noticed a posting by emma j for her chestnut vendor:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Playmobil-Mansion-Victorian-Roast-Chestnut-Seller_W0QQitemZ200408153308QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Toys_PreSchool_RL?hash=item2ea941bcdc
it is a wonderful customization.
and the second: her chocolate shop, i do not know if anyone has shared this yet, but it is absolutely mouthwatering incredible.

emma j, if you ever have time to read this postings, your work is wonderful.

Even though our computer has all kinds of anti virus and protection programs, we have been under attack by a persistent Trojan that seems to be coming from the internet. Twice we have paid to have our computer cleaned up and we were told that the Trojan was probably coming from Facebook or Twitter. We don't twitter and I almost never go on facebook. After the third and last attack my husband has asked that I reduce my activities on the internet for awhile. I was even suspicious of Playmofriends site but no one else has mentioned having a problem. I sneak in and take a quick look every once in a while, because I miss ya all!!

I'm ... on Twitter. I have a theory about it. I reduced my time in all the forums I'm in, "because" of twitter ... In fact, I think it's like this: twitter is the individual. You speak of yourself, for other selves. Forums are communities: we can't live without them, but it isn't all our -- er .. my -- time.
I'm in three or four forums (lemme count .. here -- playmo --, cats, Latin (language), History, chess), and I reduced my participation in all of them, because I spend most of my time on twitter. However, I realized that I deepely missed the forums, and so I came to think about it, and came out with the individual-comunity thoughts.
Odd, isn't it? 8}

Hi Everyone Pleased to say that I'm Back!
For the last few weeks I've been busy building Lego models - My sons said I could sell their Harry Potter Lego but unfortunately it was just loose bricks in three large crates! After 2 weeks I'd built, photographed, then heartbreakingly pulled apart 23 sets, including 2 castles! and together with 12 lots of minifigs I put it on ebay. I was quite proud of the achievement in finding all the bits and instructions and would have liked to raise to raise £300 to buy an ipod and dsi for the boys Christmas presents, but thought I'd probably get £200+ however it eventually raised a staggering £800!! :o 8} ;D So that's where I've been for the past few weeks; building, answering questions about shipping, and packaging and posting. By the way my husband said I'd to treat myself to something for all my hard work so I've ordered The Story of a Smile - hope it's worth while. I've stopped by now and again but had no time to post so a few comments I should have made - To Karim, congratulations on the ending of Magic in the Air - I didn't have time to comment but it was wonderful :wow: and to Martin I hadn't realised you'd moved, but have now read your blog and All the best for your new life in the US.
Best wishes to all :xmascheer: - it's good to be back :)

Skypurr-
I, too, spent about 3 weeks sorting through Harry Potter lego so I know exactly what you went through. (I had all of the original sets + 6 from the second round) It was funny how each time I built a different set, different pieces would be either left over or missing. In the end, though, I was only missing one broom and one beige barrel!!!! It would have been nice to sell them on ebay but I gave them all to my nephew last year - who knows he may be able to pay for a semester of college if he ever decides to sell them! I did retain one castle though and sold it for over $200 last summer ;)
-
Hi Skypurr, and welcome back!
-
Hello Elaine & Reylocann :elf:
Glad you are able to spend a little time with us. It amazing how much funds you were able to generate form you Lego sets. And it is even better to hear that some of the funds will be going to Playmobil ;)

I'm on twitter. A friend asked how many "boys" Gepetto had ... I had never been called Gepetto before, I can't help saying that I could remember noone else but you, Steven ...
It was lovely to be called Gepetto, you know? I think I finally understood why you don't have a klicky "avatar", after all ... I changed my main account "avatar", and dressed a Gepetto "avatar", I couldn't resist.
I have quite a few accounts, and four of them had (my own) klickys as "avatars". Now I changed one of them -- temporarily? I don't know yet -- for a Gepetto, because I was delighted to have been called so ... It made me understand that people -- like this new friend of mine, in Romania (who's teaching me Romanian, by the way :P ), can see that my klickys are alive!, and live for themselves! ... haha! I hadn't felt it that way before, but .. it's true.
If I keep the Gepetto as "avatar", I'll have to make another twitter account for Godfrey!, blimey! :hmm: He isn't happy about not having his picture on twitter :-[
Happy New Year, everyone! :xmascheer:

Yeah, it has been kind of quiet here lately, just one of those down times, I guess. I've had a lot going on, life outside of playmobil stuff.

Working. Too much overtime, too many emergent surgeries, too much call. I have a box of Indian klickies, teepees and accessories I found on craigslist, perfect to complete some of the missing parts of my collection, and they are still sitting, untouched in the box!

It has been rather quite recently indeed Lady BB. ( I also refer to felow Playmofriends with mediaval titles as you may have noticed  )
Due to a christening and a big family get together plus a nasty cold i have been in bed and away thid weekend and failed to go to playmoden , soemthing that has significantly worsened my health !!!!
I have also been busy lately with doing some work in my garage ( well its more like a living room :-[ :-[ :-[ with flags and posters and lots of brochures, magazines, tools , parts and some cosmetic maintenance to my car i.e cleaning alloys with toohbrush , removing bugs from radiators , cleaning brake air ducts, polishing exhaust tips etc etc , changing CDs in the CD magazines etc etc etc . All pointless things buit these are the best ...
and work of course which has been very busy ..
I really hope to dedicate a quitea few playmoden hours in teh next couple of weeks and post some nice progress pictures here. I have decided to use also the volcano and something else that will come as a surpise to some : A medieval warrior mounted on a T-Rex !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I know I haven't been posting much lately, but I still check the forum many times a day to keep up with the threads :)
We've just got an allotment, and also I've just lost a lot of money with some things I have just bought, so I have been trying to sort that out... :'(

Oh Damo! I did notice your absence! :( I hope all is well or gets better....what is an allotment anyway? the translator doesn't make much sense.
An allotment (or rather an allotment site) is an area of land owned by the council (or parish council in our village)
That land is divided up into small 'gardens' as it were, and members of the local community can rent one of these plots to grow vegetables or fruits on.
It is great for people like us, who don't have a big enough garden to grow fruits and vegetables in, so we can walk down to the allotments and grow our stuff there.
Hopefully this makes sense :P
I will get some piccies for you all when I next get a chance :)
Damo :)

oh yes that make sense!
So it is good news! ;D It sounded like something terrible
Now you have a bigger back yard for your dioramas! :P :P

We've got builders working inside the house so I'm spending most of my spare time making cups of tea, moving stuff out of their way and then moving it back again when they have gone (they are in the lounge at the moment but have also been in the office (above it) and the loft (above that). In between moving stuff, I am looking for stuff I buried and climbing over boxes to get to other boxes.
Have fun with your allotment, Damo. Nearly all of my friends have one now and are on their second or third year and the initial effort is really beginning to pay off (I just have their kids round to play here with mine for a bit if they are in the way and get all the veggies and fruit I need without actually having an allotment  ;D)
-
Hopefully this makes sense :P
No, but it will when you show us with playmobil dioramas! ::)
Okay, I am kidding :-[
and climbing over boxes to get to other boxes.
This sounds kind of fun ::)
Okay, I'm kidding again ... Sorry, couldn't resist :-[
We have a saying here: "loose the friend, don't loose the joke!" :P

An allotment sounds wonderful. I would LOVE a garden
I've been absent more and more because I'm trying to focus on my coursework. And in summer we have less budget for Playmobil, so I haven't bought anything in almost TWO months :'( So I guess Playmobil has been less on my mind. But I still like to check in with all of you and live vicariously through your purchases and dioramas ;)

I must say that after my efforts for the WJT and the Pilot Group I needed a bit of a break. I also have been traveling through Europe for a 3 weeks now and another trip coming up this week. Also planning a trip to the US in April.
My wife cleared all the medieval stuff of our playmo table so I have been sorting that, because there are still a couple of stories to shoot. As well as a family effort to sort through our animals and finally start our work on the Zoo.
So I have been around just slightly less active. Not having access during nights (because of business dinners) doesn't really help :-(
-
I must say that after my efforts for the WJT
.. and the WJT was a huge success. Would it be a good idea to create an electronic photo story/book of it Sir Gis ?/ I would pay a premium to have this and I am sure other would also !!! you have the pictures , a nice mediaval water mark background and some mediaval text and you got your self a playmo book sir !!!!
... just an idea....

I wonder if selling it would lead to legal trouble, though. :-\

.. back on the original subject of this thread, the forum does seem exceptionally quite again... Dissapointed to see that there is no participation the Map that WoT has put together very bad this as this was a unique opportunity for forum members to interact with one anotehr , trade, make wars etc etc . A shame really as i though this was a great idea... I wonder where is everyone and if apart from pure coincidence there is any reason why so many seem to be absent from here ..... Shame really ..... :(

Best wishes for a speedy recovery Sir Bill !!!!! :) :) :) :) :)
Thank you for your kind thoughts, George!

I feel I've not been contributing much lately, but I've been stricken with a flu like virus for the past couple of weeks - some times feeling not too bad, and other times feeling awful so have just been posting on the days when I've felt up to it and looking in to follow what everyone's doing at other times.
I had meant to join in more with the Kingdoms map but can't face working out what my kingdom is like or organise trade routes at the moment. :-[
I also need to complete the final part of Sir Fergus' story, take photos of my next contribution for the Modern war, post pictures of some new items I've bought and also finish the lady to send to Karim - I'll get on to it all when I feel better!

What is your next hurdle?
The only reason I am able to spend more time on here is it has been raining so much. It is really hard to get motivated to work in the mud twice as hard and it is a lot riskier for safeties sake.

I'm glad you are okay now Bill
Modern medicine is amazing...
Elaine, I hope you feel better soon :pop:
Some nasty viruses are going around. I had a horrible flu and high temp for a week and now I have a cold I just can't seem to get over.
Well anyhow, Spring is coming and I hope everyone gets better soon!
