Are there Roman civilian (of the plebs)?
« on: July 08, 2019, 01:15:05 »
Are there Roman plebeians? I only see the ones in togas...

(Have you guys made any customs? :roman: )

____
Ps. I tried to upload a picture of some ancient Roman plebeians, it was too big... I'll come back with it, as soon as I can.

Half a denarii for an ex-leper?
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

With his beard falling off his face..

I can't stand that. It completely ruins the pic. That and the beard over their eyes..

As to civilians, they are hiding - you know, a torso here, legs there...

Makes him look like a fake beggar. Probably goes home afterwards then gives the money to his servants to spend at the market.

It's a fake beard because she's going to the stoning later.

Gustavo: The short answer is no. They never released any nonmilitary lower class Romans. The Martin beggar is arguably one but a) St. Martin dates to the fourth century A.D., a bit after the first century Roman theme, and b) his rags are such that he could be from almost any time and any place within a couple thousand years - there's nothing "Roman" about him.

So we Romanophiles have to make do. First, we dragoon likely suspects: the Maries, Josephs and shepherds from the (first century!) Nativity sets 5588, 5719/3996, 5958, 4884, 9494, and 4885/4332 for children. Note that all the various wise men make excellent non-togaed nobles or foreign merchants/princes and so forth. 9373 is also essential - note that you can remove Noah's toga and he looks a right pleb. 3255/5276 less impressive.

In fact you can remove the togas from the regular togaed Roman figures and create more or less serviceable commoners from the denuded klickies - just ignore the gold trim!

That's the main sequence, some more ideas later  :roman:

There is one ...

This one qualifies for a Gaulish tramp rather than a Roman plebeian... (He wears trousers.)
