5342 fishmonger box content was wrong
« on: November 23, 2012, 12:31:15 »
when I was living in Canada, I bought at Playmobil Canada 5 boxes of the 5342....they were at a low price on the DS catalog (10 years ago)....I gave one to my daughter 2 years ago, but when she opened it, the content was not the fishmonger, but the flower seller 5343....So few days ago, I opened another box...the same problem....finally all the boxes doesn't content the 5342 set, but the 5343 set...I did contact Playmobil Germany to let them know the problem...They send my message to Playmobil France (I'm in France now)...They asked me to call them....First they ask me: "do you have the bill?"....it's a stupid question, no? anyway, I didn't keep the bill after 10 years, but they tell me "we can't do anything for you"

So I would like to know if one of you from Canada (may be USA) has had this problem 10 years ago?

I hate thinking about these kinds of problems. I have a lot of unopened sets and I would hate for them to not be what they are supposed to be. I do have some from many years ago but I am in no position to open any right now. I also would never keep the receipts as I do not need to be reminded how much I am spending on playmo.

I remember when BB bought a rare fire truck and when he opened it he realised it was resealed by the seller. Enough time had past and I think he had no recourse either.

sorry about your situation, it sounds very frustrating. I guess if you bought a farmer and when you opened it you found it had been mis-packaged with the wandering monk you would not be so upset ;)
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

This is frustrating. Hope you get over it soon.

On the other side: no MISB collector can be sure whether the content of the box is really what it claims - especially if the box is wrapped in foil. It is a bit easier for the old styrofoam packages. Or, you have to weigh the box and compare it with one you have opened... Still, you can't be 100% sure.
It's like physics (uncertainty principle), you cannot 100% accurately determine the position and the momentum of a particle.

A reason why I never keep sets MISB (except for a very few small sets like the Dürer, Bamberger Reiter, etc).
I do like to have speficic sets in Mint Condition, but I open up the boxes carefully to have a look if the contents are correct and if no (major) parts are missing.

Resistance is futile, you will be boarded!

So sorry to hear that, Bruno. :-\ That's really quite strange! Must have been a whole batch that got the wrong packaging.

Same here, always open them carefully. (whats the use anyway to keep it closed on the shelf  :P )
