Title: Museum/Studyroom Victorian House.
Post by: Nightlioness on October 10, 2023, 11:34:44
One of the aesthetics I love is that of a natural history museum and studyroom. I had made a little room from foamboard before, but in the end I didn't liked it and soon it became a storage place for nice items but with no motivation to actually display them. My room has this carpet, a barrier which seems to hold my Playmobil together. I had room to fill on tat carpet, so I decided to buy the small Victorian house and decorate this into a little museum/studyroom vibe thing...

I only just began with this project a week ago and already looks good. I changed the wallpaper to colors/patterns of my liking. (By placing new paper onto the already cut out Playmobil paper it came with.) I left the attic paperless because of several reasons and began putting in some furniture.

Now I'm new to Playmobil furniture and I'm still looking around which ones I could add. Any tips or recommendations are highly appreciated! Same with items, things, etc.

You're right, it already looks amazing  :cloud9: Where is that carpet from? Did you make it? It is perfect in that study!

Thank you!!
The carpet is a miniature for dollhouse use. However, it is also perfect for Playmobil use as well
It has the perfect size and pattern

A cute little project  :)

For items, if you have the Spare Parts service where you are then you can plunder the Victorian and Western ranges for furniture - plus the Egyptian pyramid has some lovely items for a museum!

Ooh haven't thought about the Western sets! Thanks!
The Netherlands has a parts department, thank goodness.
It's always a bit of work to enter all those codes in haha, but it's worth the effort!

What a lovely project! I've wanted to set up a room for a Victorian archaeologist, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

The Victorian re-releases are a great place to start for furniture pieces. 70894 and 70897 are two best available sets for study/library furniture.

In case you aren't familiar with it, PlaymoDB is a fantastic source for figuring out what parts exist and what their part number is: https://playmodb.org

70947 has the bureau which might work, and of course the bookcase (but that's in the Victorian Living Room too)

I guess the cases you have are from the Heidi school room? I don't think they're available right now, sadly

Thank you :D Oh an archeologist room sounds great! If you do, photos would be awesome to see
I've my eyes on those sets indeed! Love several items in both sets

I'm familiar with the website, I'm still getting the hang of handling it as the website has so many functions and options to work with.
Great website, as is the Animobil one from Tim, a personal fave of mine for sure

So they did reuse that desk! I have one from the old Victorian "living room" (which looks more like grandfather's study to me), but they re-released the other grandfather's den instead.

I'm terrible at actually completing projects, but I'll post photos if I do. I need to acquire some period-appropriate shelving. I have most of the Victorian room sets, but many artifacts are too tall for the bookcase and china cabinet. It's a good era for an artifact collection because the Victorians really loved their stuff.

Yeah, it can take some fiddling to learn all the search functions.
Animobil is a blessing, as well.

It's a lovely item - I'm not sure what the thinking was behind the choices with the room re-issues. I don't dislike their choices, but I feel that a total recolour or the 'original' sets would have made more sense. But it's nice that the desk is available (and I love the brown adults bedroom, and I didn't have the white nursery sets from the first time around, so it worked for me!)

Goodness, those furniture pieces are awesome!! I really like the low display thing (forgot the English word....).
Sadly that set hasn't any numbers for the furniture on that Playmobil parts website??

Correct, I had bought the set when it came out, love the vibe it has. Used several items from it.

I was really hoping for a non-pink bathroom.   Brown furniture is always appreciated though.

Oh, that is nice. It looks like four drawers could fit (instead of having the electronic in the top).

Goodness, those furniture pieces are awesome!! I really like the low display thing (forgot the English word....).
Counter? Check out the saloon set 70946. The counter is accompanied by a taller unit for displaying bottles.

Counter! That's the word indeed.
I saw indeed and immediately fell in love with that furniture piece! It displays bottles but it can hold many other things as well

My goodness I just love how this topic turned out!
So much help, creativity and positivity

Have some new additions to show for my museum/studyroom

First my little order from the Dutch Playmobil parts department:
(Added a frog color/pattern I didn't have yet for my jungle.)

I made a few little DIY things for the museum, happy with them all
(I removed the ox/cow skull and placed a badger on it instead)

Placed two bars/counters together so I could add the little terraria on top.
As you can see I still have to make two terraria, one with a red scorpion and one with a black spider.

And this is probably one of my favorite pieces! A Western bar filled with birds
I will add a few birds on top, hope to find an other pheasant second hand too. Used tacky gum to hold them in place.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask

Looking forward to seeing those counters in your museum.
I like the birds in that bar. The bar is on my wishlist. Would like to fill it with toys for a Santa’s workplace display.

Oh that's such a cute idea! I am sure teddy bears, dolls and trains will fit perfectly in there! :D

I'm loving your "specimens." They have the perfect Victorian naturalist vibe.

Are the "glass" covers Playmobil?

Happy you like it :D

No, they are from DeAgostini, from their mineral collection.
These little boxes have been in my drawers for a good while, but I finally found a good use for them :D
I glued the grid/stones and plant in ad the little Playmobil animal is loose and can be removed if pleased.

They are the perfect size for displays. It's smart to glue the pebbles, so you don't end up with a mess.

There are museum related sets like 71347, usually with robbers, you could find nice pieces in. There's also the older set 7470 which might have parts on ebay or perhaps even from playmobil. Also 70604 which comes with an older looking globe in brown.
