Title: Kingdoms Map: Trechisperia
Post by: conniefrere on November 20, 2011, 18:59:07
Inspired by the story of Katzenreich I made up a geography, history of the Kingdom of Techisperia. It's however not a kingdom, for they have no king, they don't believe in it.

Here follows some geography:

Beneath a vast mountain range, with eternal snow as canopies over their tops, lies a wide slowly steeping, seemingly desolate land covered with pine trees and cypresses. These forests, or rather this enormous forest for it seems there is no open land, houses all kind of animals like pine martens, red deer, aurochs and birds like wild fowl and the wood grouse.

Going south-west the forest landscape slowly changes and the land no longer declines but levels in wide grasslands where wild horses and sheep dominate the view and these grasslands gradually changes into a no-man’s land of sand and stones. In the east were the mountain range ends in steep cliffs the sea bashes the mountains ceaselessly. Southwards in the forested valley besides the sea the land ends in snow-white sand beaches.

The land between the mountains in the north and the desert in the south is known as Trechisperia or Pinuak as most of the inhabitants would name it. With only mountains in the north, which act as a great impenetrable fortress, the forested valleys and the green grasslands of Trechisperia are never in there shadows. The land is devoid of rivers but mild rain in spring and autumn keep the land fertile when the east wind brings clouds from the sea. On warm sunny days and an eastern wind the scent of pinetrees carries all the way to Katzenreich and Ithaca.

The moutains on the southside are abounding with caves and tunnels, some of them go very deep and inside these caves gold, silver and the biggest crystals one has ever seen can be found there. In addition to these precious metals the caves are inhabited by people who might look primeval at first sight. Although their deceivingly graceless appearance may fool you, Treschisperians are civilised people with sophisticated technology and though they still use stones in their weaponry and arsenal, they are great craftsmen in metallurgy and use bronze, gold and silver in combination with gemstones for mostly decorative purposes.

More to follow.

For outsiders travelling Trechisperia the land seems uninhabited, no houses, no castles, maybe some deserted tents can be spotted. As was told, the Trechisperians live in their caves. The people do not like to have strangers in their land so they keep hidden, but with a watchful eye, no man or beast passes through their realm against their will. For them outsiders are usurpers and they will not contact you. Travellers could ride through the woods, mountains and grasslands without ever meeting a living soul. However, if they think your attentions are good you might be welcomed and you will experience what the meaning of true hospitality is.

The people in Trechisperia are craftsmen, hunters or shepherds. The craftsmen spent most of their time in their caves creating magnificent works of art and beauty, mostly of metal. The shepherds are in there grasslands and create poetry and music. The hunters on the other hand are more like what you could call an army. They hunt for food, but besides they are guardians of the woods, grasslands and caves. In the mountains and forests secret hideouts for guards are set-up and they keep unceasing watch, and their arrows are sure and deadly as are their spears.

Here is a picture of two hunters in their environment. They are named Aed and Uisge the best archers of the Trechesperians.

Much like the Picts in Scotland, any invading army would travel into their lands to find very little of anything.
But if they tried to leave anyone to garrison a town, a huge host would rise up and recapture the settlement.
Trechisperia seems like a very scary place for any invading army. :o

Not been posting here for at least 120 days! Well, time for a picture here of my barbarian horde.

Deserters, mercenaries, and savages have abandoned their armies and homelands for they want to have an easy life of fighting, drinking and eating. When will some brave warriors stop this band of ferocious killers. No nice and ordered army here, just brute fighting force with men who live by the sword. All inhabitants of Trechisperia be alarmed as well as the other kingdoms, for we do not know when they decide to roam further, boundaries do not have any meaning to them.

Trechisperia's warriors would make a fine mercenary army to support Krull's Conquest plans.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

 ;D ;D ;D

Such brave warriors will get Ale for a lifetime   ;D ;D ;D !! PM me some  details of a couple of klickies i can create for a relevant photostory if you like when the Trechisperia leaders visit Krull meet the generals and the emperor etc . I will PM you first the script to discuss / agree ( as the KIngdoms Map rules dictate  0) ) and then I wil go ahead and create a photostory. Perhaps your leaders  can participate in one of Krulls's  ' little invasions ' and i can create a small battle sotry where the Trechisperians excel in battle and Iseorth gets so enthusiastic gives them lots of gold and ale for a lifetime with return to support his invasions etc  :knight: :knight: :knight: :knight:

Finally some news from the Kingdom's map! And maybe some action coming up... I mean, just sitting in a castle, chatting with nobles and picking flowers in the royal garden is not what this map is about, is it?

Hey Lynx, seems like every time war talk between the kingdoms start, we get threats of shutting the map down.

Last month, I read a lot of old topics of this Kingdom's map and indeed..  I was highly surprised... where do they have all those armies for? Maybe I should enter the Kingdoms map and start some decent wars...  otherwise it becomes a medieval doll house theme... ;)

;) nothing of course, my friend. We could pick dozens of flowers to throw at our enemies when they attack us.

Well, I think George is in for a good fight, Jan. But I have the feeling his army is not very small..

wars...  otherwise it becomes a medieval doll house theme... ;)

Well  the Kingdom of Krull and its  self proclaimed Emperor , Iseroth can only be blamed for the contrary . Nevertheless the conversations between  for example Krull and Ithaca got out out of hand and many other member were annoyed etc and there is logic i think to the approch the mods took etc . Still it was a bit fun with  those message pigeons were travelling faster than light with all those war declarations and insults etc etc

I plan to set a massive battle between Krull and the Old Empire ( Romans ) in mid 2013. I have run out of space in my current master den and setting up two armies of a total of over 2000 klickies is just impossible given the space available . BUT  i will do this battle in a different place in mid 2013 hopefully and thats a promise not just to myself but to the forum also .

I think the kingdoms map is a grand idea and all who participate should abide by its rules. Great photostories can be agreed and presented without all this nonsense talk etc , after all better to include all this war talk in photostories  ;D ;D ;D. See cowabunga's excellent little story abou the 4 generals of Krull for example . What a great little story and not for folwers pickers for sure

2000 klickies? Wow, I'd love to see that! I've just made my first mass- scenes for The Story of Randolph and my conclusions are:
1) I still have much to learn if it comes to photography
2) I need a standard for my camera
3) Building a scene with 100+ klickies and tidying up afterwards takes one day.

I just read Cowabunga's story and you're right, that's how it should be!

Sir Wolf's story also is mightly impressive and also a long story   . Full of lovely violence and gore how any medieval story should be . Just looking at the playmo medieval weapons once gets the pic me reckons   . Have a read at Ceragem's stories and also if you like have a look at my medieval set up , there are a few hundred of medieval soldiers and citizens cluttered on top of each other more or less but still a big display of medievalk armies etc. Grangel also has a link of a massive gloden dragon army etc, then you have to read Vauban's and Tonquello's stories etc , god i have missed so much great medieval stuff, this forum is full of great photostories and some have some grand violence etc :knight: :knight: :knight:

OK guys I've missed this before but I must say something now.  ;D

Wars and interaction between members and stories are not forbidden at all AS LONG AS YOU GUYS DO IT WITHIN THE RULES AND GUIDELINES.
It seems there's still members who can't understand that  ;) so I suggest you read the mentioned guidelines again and act accordingly and there won't be any trouble.
I hope and would love to see more action in this project but warnings (not threats) are still "ON"  ;)
Enjoy!

BTW great story... I LOOOVE the pics!!!!
