Title: Just treated myself to the 5302 Grande Mansion
Post by: rogermobil on June 09, 2011, 15:47:51
Hello,

Read the messages a lot but haven't posted much as I haven't bought any new Playmobil for quite some time but I have gone absolutely mad and treated myself to a load of the stuff.

I am expecting delivery of the Wedding Church 4296 and Pavilion 4297 and hope to get all the small sets that go with it before they are no longer available. I wanted the Church the first time I saw it when it was launched in Germany, so I am looking forward to building it when it arrives.

I have also just ordered the Grande Mansion 5302, Kitchen 5329, Bathroom 5330, Parent's Bedroom 5331, Living Room 5332 and Children's Bedroom 5333. I was toying with the Suburban House but the Grande Mansion seemed better value and I like the idea of the working bedside lights in the Parent's Bedroom and the glowing fire in the Living Room. I have the original Victorian Mansion and would have liked a lighting set for that, but I don't think one was ever produced, so I will be getting some additional lighting 7484 at some point. I thought it was a lot cheaper than lighting the Suburban House, but I see that you need one set per floor!

I am planning on taking lots of photos of my new sets and hope to post them on here so everyone who may be interested in getting them for themselves can see them in detail.

It's a shame that the furniture is very modern in style. I would have liked some more period stuff similar to the Victorian theme, but I do have many of the Victorian room sets that I could furnish some of the new Grande Mansion with, especially if I get the extension floor. More money!!! Those people at Playmobil really know how
to part us with our hard earned cash don't they?

I'll be back when the hoard arrives 8}

TTFN

In the new DS-catalog there are some victorian room sets [KLICK here!] (http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Search-Show?cgid=Ds_Gebaeude_und_Einrichtung), may be 2012 in the USA and other countries.

Boy, that is great to know!  Hope they make it here to the US someday.  ;D
Thanks for the info, zugpferdchen!

I have got my Wedding Church and Pavillion and will be doing my first review with photos on a separate posting soon. Hoping the Grande Mansion will turn up today or tomorrow.

Best wishes

It's arrived!!!!  ;D

Although I am itching to get the boxes opened and the house assembled, I have too much to do before I indulge myself, so the first pics won't be posted for a few days. I also need to get quite a lot of AAA batteries for the doorbell, bedside lamps and the fire effect in the living room.

I may buy the missing sets, the dining room 5335 and nursery 5334 when I go into York on Wednesday so I have the
whole theme.

Hello,

I assembled the Grande Mansion last night. I wasn't going to put it together for a couple of days but when I was carrying the box upstairs, it seemed a bit light to me, far lighter than the 5300 and 5301, so I thought I'd better check it to see if anything was missing.

The plan was to assemble just one floor, but I ended up staying up until the wee small hours and finished the whole thing. I don't know if it's been reported here before, but the new mansion house is System X and doesn't seem as sturdy as the 5301 and certainly not as well made as the 5300. I am a little disappointed with it, but once I have the room sets in place I may change my mind. I'll do a full review as soon as I can, but it may not be for a couple of weeks, though I'll try and post some pics sooner than that.

I think I'll be getting another 5301 before the shops sell out as I do prefer the looks of it to the 5302. Shame about the colour though.  :sadklicky:

I don't remember any review of that house so please do it when you can. I can't wait to see it.
Im not sure I like it though, the shape is weird so I can't picture a diorama with this one in it. Someone please prove me wrong!
I do like the 5301, color and all  :)

Just ordered my 5302 from US DM! Was not on the website earlier today, so probably just arrived.

Very excited about the furniture, lighting and extra floor. And love the low price compared to other toys.

No way am I gonna wait 2 months to open this for my birthday!

Will have to see the colors when it arrives. Luckily hubby knows how to spray paint models because we have done a lot of PM lately.

PM DE: PLEASE GET RID OF THE (*&^^*()(^%^*()_O()_)(*^$#$%^&* RED ROOFS or at least give us a choice of colors. In most of our town, red roofs are not allowed! Tan, light gray, gray green, dark gray, blue gray, etc. make much better looking roofs.

Yup, there goes our vow not to buy, but I did remember to say that 5302 was exempt being a birthday present and all!

I did have a hint that it was arriving early. Placing an order with US DM last week, I moaned that 5302 was a long time in coming. And the PM clerk said that it might be in stock yesterday. So I checked each day, and sure enough it was there an hour ago!

I hope that PM somehow limits buyers to one 5302 per address and credit card, or dealers/stores will buy all of them up today and raise the price back up to $300. That makes me ill. Folks who just want to play with them should get the chance now at the PM price.

TTFN, Pgal

Dealers and stores are stupid to buy it that way rather than setting up a retail account, which means they get it wholesale. So I doubt that will be too much of a problem. There's always a limit on how many items you can get in an order. Some collectors may want more than one, so we wouldn't want them to restrict it too much!

why? why do that?  ??? and after all pm wants to sell this is not to their advantage...  ;)

what is the limit? why they have a limit?  ???

There does not appear to be a limit on how many 5302's one can buy.  ;)

It just seems sad with very limited quantities that one person can buy as many as they want and the others have to wait many months to get one of them. I understand that collectors want more than one, but it does mean that others will have to wait even longer for that first one. Maybe they could presale one to each address to make it possible for more people to get one earlier. Of course if they made enough for everyone who wants one to buy two, then this is not a problem! Just an idea I had after a long wait.

Free shipping and no tax are a real plus....but make it harder for my local supplier to compete even after they receive the 5302 in a shipment in August. This is a beautiful, modern set and should sell well. The living room set looks fabulous! I have ordered it for the older house as well. And I knew to order the extra floor with the mansion this time. :D

Just checked, and the normal quantity limit of 9 applies. Not only that, but I also saw a message I haven't seen before, that the order limit is a maximum of $500. So with this limit, three is the maximum you can buy. Put it in your basket, type 10 in the quantity box, and hit update, see what it tells oyu.

Oh, I'm so jealous that you got a 5302.  I saw one for £89 the other day and was very tempted but my mum said I wasn't allowed another house-there's still time to work on that though.   ;D

bonniebeth:

I am glad that they put a $500. limit on the purchases of 5302. 3 of them is enough for most collectors, and leaves a few for the others. Just glad I was able to check it daily online and buy it as soon as it was available in the US.

I think they are going to sell all they can make of this set because parents are so starved for exciting toys for their daughters, who don't have many good choices. American Girl Dolls have been enormously successful for this reason. I own some of them myself after receiving back (after she died) the one we gave to mother-in-law.

The price of 5302 is very competitive with other toys for a starter item. Of course by the time it is furnished, you are looking at another 200USD or so. So the 5302 is like a loss leader....sell it at cost or a small loss, and your profits still increase due to sales of all of the accessories. A fantastic strategy!

Whatever, Pgal

All geobra has to do is push a few buttons to get more made. Stick it on a boat and our New Jersey warehouse is fully stocked up. If the warehouse runs out this would be a good sign as to the great demand

Some how I doubt the $140 is going to be a loss leader, we are talking about molded colored plastic here  ;) If you add all of the sets up plus the fence and extra floor it comes to $350 and for a 4 story doll house with all the accessories it is a lot cheaper than the wooden ones I see at shops.

I still think the L shape is odd and I do hope people figure out creative ways to change it to look more fitting on a boulevard

I love the L shape myself. I've played with a lot of dollhouses as a kid, and I think this shape really opens up the back and makes it a lot easier to play with what's inside, even while reaching around the staircases. It's a great idea. It is a little different from the front, but I don't think it looks bad at all, and I think it could add a lot of interest to a street.
Title: Re: Just treated myself to the 5302 Grande Mansion
Post by: playmogal on June 16, 2011, 00:02:41
Yup, I do wish it could be joined with another set or two. Too bad about the roof not being expandable. But it is good to stack extra floors on because they decrease the amount of floor space it requires.

Hubby has looked at many wooden dollhouses and offered to build some for me, but I know he would rather be working on his N-scale model trains. So the 5302 is a great solution....I can build it and will like it, and he can continue working on his trains. And the prices of the nicer wooden ones are outrageous.

Yup again, it is a high price by the time it is furnished. So the whole thing is not a loss leader, and PM has to make a decent profit. I hope they do so they can stay in business a long time and keep making better city houses and doll houses! ;D ;D ;D

oh that is the L shape? (why it's called like this?)

hmmm... i don't really like it , it makes the house look a little small (because deoesn't have a large front face)  it would be better to have one more wall on the side .. or to can connect two 5302

The 5302 box arrived last night and is big and heavy! I opened it today to take out a window, window insert, window frame, door frame, door, wall and roof piece so we could think about the final color scheme. Then we selected spray paint from Lowe's and sprayed the roof and window inserts. They look great! (Go to the painting thread to get more info about painting a 5302 and photos of today's work.)

Next I pulled out the ground floor baseplate and began building that floor. The first floor lighting kit is now in, and tomorrow I will finish the walls on that floor with a little luck. Can't wait to put the furniture and Klickies in and TURN ON THE LIGHTS!!!

We did remove the wall paper already installed on the top floor, and will decide later whether or not to use that pattern. I prefer painting the walls a solid color and using accessories and rugs to add color.

So far it has gone well, but I have a lot of building to do tomorrow. Cheers, Pgal
