Kingdoms Map: Selecting territory
« on: February 01, 2011, 16:12:16 »
Even though we've gotten pretty far into this I would like to suggest we start over with a completely imaginary map. Using Europe like this risks running into actual Nationalistic feelings and perhaps makes the whole thing a little too close to the real world. A completely imaginary map would prevent that and keep things more in the Fantasy-Play realm.

for example

Because of Gis' suggestion, count Aaron and I in (if there is still space)!  Aaron might have a different approach, but I am a mom and to promote the peace I will accept whatever land no one else has claimed or wants. But I might request something along the coast? :D

PS I like the "imaginary map"  :)9

I think Tim's idea is great, too! It might keep things much more peaceful, and keep real-life feelings out of it.

yeah but how do we divide that imaginary map!? Souldn't it have to have topography or something like that? geographic accidents, we call them here. I mean... mountains... plains, etc.
Some kind of division
 ???

OK here goes:

We divide the map in little squares (20x20 for example)

Each member gets a random number assigned by WoT.

People choose there "realm" when it is their turn (their number) for however many units they want (max 10 for example)

When everyone is done picking, Wot will make it into a nice map with things that look like actual borders instead of a bunch of squares :-)

We then get to decide on mountains and what not for our OWN realm. If you and a neighbour have different landscapes in mind try and make it work somehow.

Would that work?

It's a good suggestion, but I also like the real map, is it a problem making two scenarios one totaly fantasy and one more historical ?
