A little history;
The Joseon Dynasty ruled Korea from 1392 through the Japanese annexation in 1910.
The Samurai invasions of Korea in 1592 and 1597 ended in 1598 with the withdrawal of the Samurai forces.
The invasions were launched by Toyotomi Hideyoshi with the intent of conquering Korea and China.
However with guerrilla warfare by Joseon civilian militias and supply difficulties resulted in a stalemate until 1596.
In 1597, the samurai forces invaded Korea a second time where both sides again became locked in a ten-month long stalemate until the samurai army again withdrew.
