Definitely this one for me! It's the set that started it all!

Hmmm not really sure, but I'll have to say the old prison tower!

I have to pick several sets that I'm really attached to, the number one on the list is my very first 3880 fire engine that my wife got for me that still has it's box, the second is my 12x3526 fire engines that required a lot of time refurbishing, & my third is my 3757 bulldozers! But, I will have to say don't ask me to parts with any of my collection, 'cause it's not happening!

It would have to be the Blacksmith 3430.
http://collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3430.htm

It was the first "big" set I got from my parents in 1981/1982. And I realised long after that, that the set was expensive at the time and as I said before we weren't rich. I know it meant a lot of their savings to get it for me back then, so with time it became special to me.
Beside that, I really like that set!!!!

For me it would have to be the Forest Ghost...
Or as I called him, Nature Master. :)
He was, and is, my favorite klicky,
and I can remember him from the moment I first started remembering... ;D

Yes that is true! For myself its not easy to distinguise the sets anymore, since all sets are so mixed up! So i am emotionally attached to all my playmobil!  Still that old prison tower has a special place in my collection...

It is probably too obvious which one I'm most emotionally attached to...   ;) (hint: it made me refind my attraction to Playmo in 2000)

Fysically I'm attached to the Redcoat-blister set; I'm customizing a few more soldiers at the moment.

childhood: either 3450 king's castle or my 2 fire engines (large pumper truck & ladder engine)
now: 3627 merry men's feast. It was one of the first sets I bought after my dark ages, it just contains so many great klicky's and parts.

I'm attached to every piece I have. I bought a lot of sets from themes I don't collect @50% off so I could sell them later but I can't seem to part with anything at the moment. Lol

Same here. It's the first set I bought when I re-discovered Playmobil after a period of finding it "childish"...Still love the metal bell in the tower. :)

I am emotional most attached also to two sets that I got when I was a kid:
3536 - Space Station (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3536)
and
3550 - Pirate Ship (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3550)

With both of them I had so much fun and played uncountable number of hours...

best,

There are two significant sets for me:

http://collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3298.htm

This was the first set we bought when we started collecting back in 1992 and as you well now we are still very much interested in the animal theme.

The other set also features some bears:

http://playmodb.org/setpics/3248.jpg

It was the summer 1995 when I had basically given up hope of ever acquiring this set. When lo and behold they still had it in a little toy shop in Porto Vechio, Corse, France where we were on holiday. I was so happy to get it.

Also just before joining here, I bought my first Steck castle (3667), when it arrived it was also the start of something very good :-)

I'm attached to all of them too, as some said.

However, when I look at them all, 4672 does hold a special place in my heart ... It's the first character in long years of a playmo vacuum. (He came together with the Crusader 4670, but a crusader is a ... Crusader. I'm not a religious guy. I prefer the archer character :P he's more neutral!)

As a kid, I should mention this one:
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3546

and as a teen (when I lived in Portugal, in the 1990s), these:
http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3054
& http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3791

I was naïvely cautious not to have double sets, as a kid and teenager. 3791 was the very first I recall as buying a second box of the same set ... Even so, it wasn't in the same day, possibly not in the same year. I loved the new model of powder gun ... Until then, the only different gun we had was the western Winchester. Then, they began to do new stuff for the pirates too, it was real cool! I also loved the clear glass goblet and the bottle of wine! It's a small set, but very rich one!

Easy One. My first Steck CAstel that started it all ... the amazing steck castle 3450  :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:.. I clocked thousands of gamne hours with that set when a kiddo ( and its parts are now part of my medieval set up so the DNA of the very first castle is still present !!! )

3450 commands a lot of respect . At its time i doubt there was a better quality/ impressive toy set

I really have good memory of this set. This picture (attached) was the one of the box, when I bought it. (Trol did good work with the boxes ... They reproduced geobra's original faithfully.)
Title: Re: what is the set that you are most emotionally attached?
Post by: Gustavo on April 06, 2011, 14:30:07
I remember to have felt real cool when I got this set (3585 (attached)) ... It was unexpected to me, because variety was not very common, even in Portugal (where I got this one, around 1991 or 92).

And the one below (3329) was one of the very few medieval between 1983 and 1993. (It's from 86, I also bought it in 91 or 92.) They reloaded it, later, when the new medievals began to come up, but the one I knew was this old version all right.

My favs!

I have great memories for the ones below too

However 3364 isn't very appealing to me, I felt dazzled by the monkeys ...

As for 3347, it was somewhat like going back to the Trol box dioramas, when I got it, in 1990 (one of the firts ones I got in Portugal). Felt magic! :yup:
(But in the Playmobil.De site, the picture isn't the original one, which I put below :lens: from Collectobil.com ...)

3347 also stands very high in the list of my fav single klickies , the fishing trowler is an amazing set that was very advanced quality and colour wise at its time comparing to the rest of playmobil and these klickies were awesome on it. Really want to set all these up now still have them boxed somehwere and they have been boxed since the early/mid 90s.....

And I can end with these ones (3653 & 3674 also attached), that are listed in Playmobil.De Archiv as from 1993, but I believe they're from 1992, because I left Portugal January or February 1993, and I already had them ...

For little haven't I gotten the civilian collection (dated 1994, in the site Archiv, together with the first Specials), the "Merry Men". God-knows the effect it would have produced on me, so, it's part of my biography that I did not see them, until later internet research (2008).

Some medieval (among them, 3653) were produced and sold in Brasil, by Estrela (who did good work too, in reproducing boxes and sets faithfully), later on, late 90s, maybe, but at that time I was growing up (? ::) ), and payed no attention at all to my playmo. In 1997, I sent them all to young cousins, in Belo Horizonte, another town, (mom's family), and lived without playmobil for the following 10 years (if ever that is possible :hmm: ...).

Interesting thing of this topic is that you can remind your life, for the ones who grew up on playmo at least ...

I can't be unfair, and not to mention at least one western set ... So, I selected 3304 (attached), I really loved when I got it. I had quite a few western sets, back then. Nowadays, I don't have them on my lists, at least not yet. (Maybe someday ...)

my most favorite playmo is the babiemushroom. i got it for my 23rd birthday together with the DHL van, it was a gift from my boyfriend. i'm still very happy with the mushroom guy, i even bought him a mushroom house. ( not from playmobil )

and of course i'm very attached to my villa, but it's in the middle in some reconstructions, so i'll post a picture of it when it's finished and furnished again.

and does someone know how you can make pictures smaller so that it fit's the maximum size? i tried to make a picture of the mushroom house, but it's size was too large...

You need to host it on a photo sharing website first, preferably photo bucket, because some members can't see image shack photos. THen you can resize it and paste the image code here.

It would have to be my 5300 with the extension floor that was bought for me by my parents as a birthday and christmas present (they are 3 days appart) then each member of my family gave me a different room set.  Somewhere there is a video of my three year old (very nearly 4!) uncovering it on christmas morning.  My mum being the organised person she is had already built it and hidden it at our neighbours!
Since then I have purchased more mansions but 'mine' is still my favourite in fact it has never been dismantled since my mum first constructed it-that is my one rule..I will try my hardest to make sure it is never dismantled, I don't know why  :-\  but I suspect it will cause problems when I move out!

This is a really nice topic  :)

The set i'm most emotionally attached is surely 3248, the first polar bears from the late 80s. I got the first zoo (3435) with all the additional sets for christmas and at this time it wasn't that hard to collect all available animals like today because there were only a few different species. Unfortunatelly the polar bears were discontinued the year before and nowhere available anymore. So in the pre-internet-era i wasn't able to get them for years though i made an advertise in some local newspapers, phone with the playmobil-hotline etc.

When ebay started in germany this set was the first auction i won and when they arrived i couldn't believe it to hold them in hands after nearly 14 years. Today they have a special place on my (home office) desk where i can see them anytime and bought the re-released ones for my zoo.

By far the best, makes me cry in fact . The scene where he hides in the aussie girls closet, while she is getting undressed and Mrs Fawlty walks in and sees his finger holding the closet door from the inside and then ....

you got to watch it its the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about a link?

what is the set that you are most emotionally attached?

well according to my wife, I have none, plenty of plymobil but no emotions

I had one lone playmobil blue classic car in our yard as a kid. I have no idea where it came from and the only memory I have of it is where in the yard it was. It is frozen in time in that spot and I do not even recall playing with it. Very odd. I have some of the toys I played with as a kid but they belonged to our English neighbors. They brought the toys from England and were the large GI-Joes & ScaleElectric from the 80's, and the Transformers they sold for a small fortune last year.

As far as what playmobil now I get attached to, well unfortunately I like them all in different ways, even the most unpopular of the themes.

Interesting memory about that random playmobil car. Funny how the mind works, isn't it?

For now, this is the one. My first and only set as a child. My Mom gave it to me when I returned from the hospital. I had my tonsils and adenoids removed; I was 5.

I remember playing a lot with the baby and baby carrier; taking the baby off and on, off and on...I also remember being annoyed that nothing was colored and that I had to do it all!

Anyways, that set must have been trashed long ago... :-\
