Found on Facebook. Is it real or another hoax? My feeling is that it's faux, but I hope I'm wrong.

According to Amclicks it is real and apparently 1 of 2...
-
I don't understand what it's supposed to be representing. I've never seen a barista dressed like that.
-
Starbucks Reserve is their 'up market' brand (shown in the background pic) so maybe their staff wear that uniform - and if its one of two the other one could be a standard green uniform.
-
See attached - they have the black aprons and hats
-
Huh interesting. Today I learned! :(o): Thanks Oliver.
-
I had never heard that either :o
-
I've actually only seen the Reserve Brand in China, so maybe they don't exist in Europe?
The fact that its a bit obscure makes me think it's more likely to be real.

I don't know what this means- are the figures being released on 7th, 14th 21st and 28th January? In Japan? Korea?
-
Only available in South Korea...
-
And according to someone on THAT site quite limited even there, so... it is looking unlikely to me :(
-
From the official comments on the FB page, it seems like this was proposed by Starbucks Korea, so I guess it's down to Starbucks if it's rolled out.
From what I understand from their tax-dodging, Starbucks runs each territory as a separate company that 'leases' the right to use the branding.
The surprising thing is that I didn't think Playmobil was particularly known in South Korea?

Maybe it isn't and this is some bright spark's attempt to broaden its appeal, like the US Happy Meal promotions of the late 70s that hooked so many yanks. On the other hand not a lot of children drink expensive coffee.
-
PM announced the partnership(?) on Instagram a few days back.
I once saw a klicky in a K-drama.
-
Many years ago Playmobil identified the Middle East and Far Eat as potentially important markets.

I know that Playmobil aren't exactly known for having the most accurate media team, but in all the responses/comments on the FB page they say that Starbucks South Korea approached them rather than the other way around

We need a screenshot of this. :camera:

Interdasting, I wonder why ???

I think I have a screenshot, but my computer fried itself and I just sent back the replacement, which turned out to be a lemon, so it's me and my phone for now.
-
A lemon? was it an Apple?

Apples are out of my pay grade, and I'm holding a grudge because an apple took out my filling in December. :apple: Evil fruit

I wonder what the conversation at Playmobil headquarters sounded like. "So... So they want make us money ey? Money! I don't know about that!"
-
Well, I ordered mine.

PM might as well go whole hog on that type of licensing. They've already swallowed the Hollywood draught. Doing stuff like Starbucks at least would allow kids to simulate the real world.
-
To be fair, it's no different to the Esso/Shell garages they made back in the 80s/90s
-
Yes I meant to make that point but it didn't come out clearly. PM has always done real world brands, they don't excite me but I am okay with them, the Hollywood stuff I actively dislike. Since they're already all in on the latter, why not go all in on the former.
-
But if you're going to do a coffee theme, why Starbuck's? Certainly in the UK their decor confuses gloom with romance.
-
You'd best ask the Koreans!
-

I guess - if they actually wanted to do it - it's the most universal coffee brand, which is probably the problem with any branded stuff

I see what you mean - I'm similarly indifferent on the branded stuff. In this case, I don't mind them as specials but I wouldn't want the cafe in the regular line up to be replaced as a branded one.
-
I have, probably foolishly, ordered all 7 from a Korean Ebay dealer. 8}
-
It's not foolish if you like them! If you waited until they appeared in your part of the world, you might miss out on them completely! And which one of hasn't bought some PM and then reflected that it might have been a rash purchase? That could be a new topic; "The most foolish decision I made when buying PM"
In any case, shouldn't we get promotional products at a lower price, in exchange for promoting their brand?
-
It is Starbucks. You could probably wait five years and then ebay them for several times what you paid. Starbucks fans are crazier than we are.
-
Do they hear their wallets speaking to them like we do?
-
Do they hear their wallets speaking to them like we do?
I doubt that, considering how much they shell out for drinks with fancy names.

LOL!

In for a penny, in for a pound, I suppose. Today Starbucks Korea released not only 2 new figures but a "furniture set" as well - 2 chairs, a table, & a patio umbrella emblazoned with Starbucks. I had it added to my full-set order. Sigh....
-
Here's the full line up of figures (I think the only other set is the chair and table one)

EDIT - just realised this must be your channel JLMatterer
-
That's helpful, thanks for posting Oliver and Jim!
Hey Tiermann, that surfer has a new dog!

Is that dog in the actual set? I haven't seen a box photo for that one anywhere

All the images I could find come from that video clip Jim showed. Maybe the dog is made of card?
-
The dog is part of the "background", I think... not sure if it's card, plastic or wood, but it's not a real playmodog :P (imo, anyways)

Oh, Macruran! It's from Heirs, which Netflix stupidly re-translated as Inheritors (in case anyone wants to look for it), which is one of the earlier Lee Min Ho shows. He's in everything now.

i only want a few astronauts...

Awesome, thanks! :thanks: :ale:

:o I didn't actually look... Uhm.. I actually thought those would be more expensive and htf.. But I can't. (please tell my wallet about this AMAZING display of restraint :P )
Hope you post a VERY detailed review of all of them :)
-
I for one have a rather large collection of Playmobil "promo's and give-aways", and I like those special (and sometimes hard to find) sets a lot, but this Starbucks madness that they cooked up is clearly just a clever way to milk AND Starbucks AND Playmobil afficionados...It's a bit "over the top", a bit "too much" imho.
Make no mistake, being a collector I WILL buy them when I stumble upon them for a reasonable price, but I refuse to feed all those eBay scalpers that sell these sets for crazy prices now. ;)
