Playmobil Drupa 1982

If you've worked in the graphic industry for 22 years, it's nice when you get a Playmobil promotion klicky of the Drupa from 1982. For the people who don't know the Drupa, this is by far the largest graphic trade show in the world. All major technical innovations are introduced here at the Messe in Düsseldorf every four years. Drupa is the abbreviation for Druck und Papier Messe. And from school to the last time I worked in the graphic industry, I have visited all the trade fairs, the first in 1986, the last in 2012. So I searched for some old pictures of the Drupa and played a little with Photoshop. Playmobil still uses printed matter (including building plans and catalogues), and someone has to do the shopping for the graphic supplies ;-)

Playmobil Drupa 1982

It was a couple, right? That guy and a black woman saying "Happy"? I have her, but at the time had no idea where she was from..

And there is an astronaut - with a really really odd pad. Not as pictured on the box: DRUPA edition (2000) (link at playkingdoms)

What an interesting vintage klicky! The clip-on bowtie is a nice touch.

Here are the couples.
Regarding the male figure : there was a mix of white hats/caps and black collars/bowties.
Regarding the female figure : she's wearing the very elusive classic RED necklace, what is great in it's own way!

Also, ther were two different flags.
All in all very cool figures!

Thanks for sharing this early promotional set, Marco_4124. Is it the earliest one of all?
I've never seen it before, but then there are many, many promotional sets from German events/cities/etc. It is only the most recent ones I have any hope of keeping up with, thanks to Daniela and St.John!

At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

I don't know, you have to ask an expert. It is the oldest promotional klicky I have.

Wow.  Oh well. The only chance I'll have to get those (with the stupid balls NOT cooperating!) is by chance, like the woman.. But I had no idea those even existed!
