Title: Police
Post by: PMatt on September 09, 2019, 12:55:49
Time for some law enforcement!

I wanted to bring some variety to my SWAT teams: here's the result.

Inspiration was drawn from SEK Berlin gear.

PS: a question for the more experienced forum users. Since the images in my previous post showed up huge I tried scaling them down this time. Is that enough or would you recommend I scale them down more?

Spot on!

Are the goggles from bike helmets?

Indeed they are, though they have been used in the Winter theme too: https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-22-1822

Thanks! Very nice use for them :)
Title: Ski Patrol
Post by: PMatt on October 10, 2019, 06:50:16
Sooner or later I'll manage to take decent photos of my police officers display (it would be quite a chore to move it, so I have to find a way to shoot it where it stands). In the meantime, I figured I might as well keep posting some pictures of the few customs among the police officers I own.

First off, here is my ski patrol (v.1 – I have a v.2 in the works, but some pieces are turning out hard to acquire). As always, click on the pictures to enlarge them.

Now I'm fully aware that's really not how most ski jackets look; still I went with this torso because the French Gendarmerie and the RCMP wear similar jackets, with epaulets and all, including the side holster.

A width of 500 to 750 pixels will ensure that the images fit on a tablet screen as well as a PC screen (I don't know about phones). An easy way to scale images is to insert a width instruction in the first image code, like this [img width=500
Example:

I really like your ski patrol!  And I think those torsos work quite well for it :)

It's great to see how accurate your custom klickies are. They really resemble their human equivalents!

Is this a project or are they part of something bigger, like a future diorama?

Indeed in my last couple posts the images were 600 pixels wide; the mobile layout too shows them whole. Thanks for the validation!

And I think those torsos work quite well for it :)

Glad you think so! The v.2 is set to have motorcyclists' torsos.

It's great to see how accurate your custom klickies are. They really resemble their human equivalents!

Thank you bml87, I'm really happy to hear that! There's a reason I tend to base my customs on reconstructions, photos and illustrations: I don't ever feel like I did it right unless I can find some sort of real-life equivalent. (Which is why I have ~150 MB of reference images on my phone)

Is this a project or are they part of something bigger, like a future diorama?

No dioramas in sight unfortunately, but yes, it is a project of sorts – variations on police uniforms, so to say.

Excellent custom  :thanks:
Title: Traffic Police
Post by: PMatt on March 11, 2020, 16:25:10
My main Police Department is comprised of a Patrol division and a Traffic division. Both are lacking in vehicles – and manpower – at the moment; but I figured I might as well show the Traffic police personnel I have on hand to interrupt my hiatus from posting.

As one can easily notice, the uniform has not been updated in a while: every officer wears gray trousers, a light blue shirt, blue tie and tunic, or a leather jacket.

For safety reasons, hi-viz vests and baseball caps are employed. (Baseball caps have been shortlisted as standard for when uniforms will be overhauled)

While onboard their cruisers officers have ease of access to flashlights, handcuffs and traffic paddle, all stored on the sides.

The luggage compartment houses the rest of the equipment, with the fire extinguisher and the first aid kit being most vital.

Thanks for sharing! I love trying to work out how equipment fits into PM vehicles (like the Police, Fire and Camper vehicles). It's often carefully designed, but the instructions don't always show what-goes-where.

We are on the same page then! It's got to be one of the most fun things about PM vehicles.

I have been putting together some more law enforcement klickies.

Customs / EUROPOL officers (I have yet to make my mind up)

Those look great! I don't think I would consider using the yellow, but he looks great! (and I like yellow  )

Also, those light blue helmets with goggles look perfect here too.

Thanks! I had that yellow torso with holster peg lying around; didn't know what to do with it until I remembered about the bulletproof vest with the huge logo. "I might as well make something flamboyant" I thought!

In this post I am going to showcase a pet project of mine. I have been entertaining the idea of officers in white for what feels like an eternity; but it was only recently that I managed to put it into practice.

The look I was going for was that of municipal police in a seaside town. I settled on blue baseball caps, rather than white, lest they should look too much like house painters.

There was no way I wasn't going to use the pith/custodian helmets. I can only wish that part made a comeback, or that it was easier to find iy second-hand.

I have further plans. I intend to make a dress uniform version (but need the neck piece from set 6691 to do so, and this is not a good time to make purchases on the net); also, I want to put together a couple Coast Guard officers to join forces with their counterparts.

Title: Division 58
Post by: PMatt on November 04, 2020, 11:10:41
Division 58 is the dedicated gendarmery special forces unit deployed in high-risk, high-profile situations.

Since officers are on call at all times, it is not rare to see them rolling up at a scene in civilian clothes.

The Division also encompasses specialist units trained to intervene in the most diverse situations.

Though not their primary role, the personnel can be employed for crowd control duties if the need arises.

Divers are instrumental in recovering evidence from underwater and are also employed in tactical roles*.

The Division is also deployed abroad, where it is tasked with protecting embassies and consulates.

* though this might seem far-fetched, here (http://www.fiammeblu.it/albums/userpics/10005/FILE15463.JPG)'s a Polizia di Stato diver (external link)

I wasn't positive it would work till I tried! I also want to check out the brown strap that comes with the "Johnny B. Goode" McFly.

Ah, thanks for the heads up - if available, we should all buy a gazillion. I always hated the blue one for.. well... anything but modern, and even there it's hard to think of a situation where the brown isn't better..

Couldn't agree more, but I wonder if the brown strap is of comparable length.

Some more (rather minor, admittedly) customs.

The Modern-day sheriff and park ranger look brilliant and I’m really liking that there both bearded. A modern day sheriff should be bearded in my opinion  :lol. The mounted Police officers are simple customes. Now all they need are horses.
