The next couple of weeks you’ll find me in the desert! I will post more pictures in this topic during the creation of my new diorama.
I bought 25kg of river sand to create a desert atmosphere. I used about 7kg for this diorama. Note that you have to bake river sand in the oven for about one hour at 150° Celsius to make it clean and dry.
As you can see, one klicky is already in serious trouble... (Click to enlarge).

The left part of the diorama is reserved for the native Americans and the right part will be the territory of the Yankees... To be continued

What are the measurements of your diorama?
I assume the baked sand can be stored again (longtime) when the diorama gets dismantled?

Oh, that's a pity indeed! I would like to compare it :o

Thanks tahra! My girlfriend told me the same thing about the soil, now she wants me to create a background as well... I have no experience with that... Maybe blue to give the impression of the sky... We'll see...
Well, she might jump... If I have a stunt double I can arrange a picture :yup:

Thank you, Hadoque! Glad you like it, I'm waiting for a DS parts order to finish the Fort. I guess it will arrive next week.
The measurements are 90cm x 240cm. You can indeed reuse the sand when it is baked, it was only € 1,64 for 25kg (in Gamma)! Of course, you can't put 7kg at once in the oven, you have to do it 1 (or 2) kg by 1 (or 2) kg... Or two baking plates per time. If you put too much sand on the baking plate, the inner core stays wet. Also note that there are tiny pieces of shelves in the river sand, I left them, it has a more rough look that way and you cannot see them that good from a distance.

My thoughts exactly, Tim!

I guess I'll have to send a telegram to Lucky's father to finish the tracks (I'm really waiting for the part number of that Klicky...)

As you can see, there are enough animals around to feast on the rest of the cow :o

A great series of stories in one
The bearded gold prospector looks a bit glum, so I guess their prospecting came to nothing.
And is the child with the spoon really going to try and eat a foot?

Ambush of the Mexicans! It appears the Yankees stole the money of their town, they are trying to claim it back! Not sure if this is historical accurate... Anyway...
