They've broken all of Brandstaetter's other taboos so they might as well break that one as well.

Every time PM leans into producing obscure 19th century Germans I would NEVER buy, my mind drifts to the World War 1 figures and vehicles I WOULD buy

Oh what I would give for von Richthofen and his triplane, or (can a man dream?) a Sturmpanzerwagen

Fascinating, under "All Projects" they list only a few of the customs we know they've done, but a couple I hadn't heard of - I don't think the Fritz Reuter and Ernst Abbe ones were mentioned here on PF.

It makes me wonder why they didn't launch a series for the 250th celebration of the signing of the American Declaration for Independence. A set of figures to include George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Benjamin Franklin would have sold very well.

I think I suggested this very idea a few years ago on this august forum. Such an easy win for PM...unfortunately I think they're abandoning the US as a market, so there's little motivation for any such effort on their part.

A Lincoln figure for the never-to-return American Civil War theme was another missed opportunity.

I think they're more responsive than active...

But I must admit I've thought about some obvious museum collaborations, and at least now if you contact them you have a obvious place to point them to (rather than 'I think this would sell, contact the local head-office and hope for the best')

Playmobil have launched a website for institutions/companies to access them directly about special figures

https://b2b.playmobil.com/en-gb

They seem to have been coming thick-and-fast recently, but I guess this might make it easier to suggest projects if they have a direct contact available.

No, the main castle is not new.

It's a smaller version of the 4866 Red Falcon castle, which was already the smaller castle of that batch opposed to the Yellow Lion castle.

It's using the same parts for the castle, save for the sticking out parts this one has on the walls on both sides of the gate. It does have notably less wall pieces and the part with the roof is also clearly smaller.
Also no forge, one less clicky, no horse, no furniture, less weapons... It's just a big downgrade. They would have been better off simply reissuing the 4866 castle really.

Then again I don't see any soldiers with them at all.

Maybe they'll show up as an add-on pack?

I like the 2 knights, especially the red and blue one (well, I agree that the figures are the weakest link in those sets).

I'm not generally keen on the fantasy stuff, so I don't like the Dragon Tower (and if we were going to have a re-issue I'd have preferred to see 3269 ).

Is the main castle new? It lacks something - if they wanted to make it smaller for either cost or space concerns, I think it would be better to open up for play value

The heraldry does look good for the lions, like the last similar one did too. Horse barding, shields and banners all look great. It's a great colour combination there. But it falls apart in the clickies both times.

I'd have just kept them in silver armour. Maybe with small gold details painted on for the knights. Then again I don't see any soldiers with them at all.
