Title: Special plus Archer 4762 and knight 4763
Post by: conniefrere on February 17, 2012, 21:26:27
Some pics and comments on the 4762 archer and 4763 knight.

First the archer:

Back and front of the package and the contents. A klicky, a hat some arrows, basket (very nice one can be used for snakes too), bow, target.
What I miss however is an arm-guard! An archer can't shoot an arrow without an arm-guard...it hurts! :( Can't imagine any reason why playmo has left it out. It's a drawback in my opinion.

The klicky on the other hand is magnificient, very good klicky for customization and getting civillians in a medieval town.
The hair is different too, it looks new, but I could be wrong.

It is a nice set, but special plus...putting in a target and a basket and forget an arm-guard....
In the end it's a lovely little set.

And here'sthe knight and what a knight. I must say that helmet is just fantastic! Some reason I just see a minotaur knight, of course the bull on his shield helps that point of view.

Thanks for the pics!

So, the hair is a redone version of the old "medieval hair"?

I think the stripes are a bit too much in the pants... always seem clownish to me..

Some nice accessories there! The axe is the most beautiful in my opinion  is it a new item?
One drawback, just as with the archer some "basic stuff" is left out. No belt, no scabbard, or anything to hold his sword on his back.

I second you on the pants, the collar on the other hand...

However, look at the guy, he looks amazing. I totally like this knight, imagine a whole army of 1000 of these warriors marching against...lets say: Krull empire. The four generals might have a tough oponent there.  :) (On the other hand those horns on those helmets might be their doom)

To conclude, both sets have nice klicky's. I paided 4.50 euro each a little on the expensive side in my opinion.

You don't like the collar? I wanted some in white!

I don't think any of the knight's weapons are new.. well, maybe theh printing on the axe.

Can't stand the broomholders in a medieval setting. AGH. He has FAR too manyy weapons if he doesn't have some sort of scabbard, doesn't he?

Still.. love him.

Hadn't realized he's like an indian, in skin color and war paint...

Thanks again for the pics and reviews ;)

I meant the collar is great compared to the pants. I was to quick typing posting.

WOW!! These are both really great!! The archer has a medieval look, I don't mind the cloths, they offer great customising possibilities! The hair were first appeared in roman officers. The target looks interesting, i thought it would be made out of plasteline, or something, it loos weird, but I guess it works... maybe it needed more holes... I agree on the armguard.

The knight! WOW! I expected a worse helmet, but it looks far better than I thought. and his armour combination is quite intimidating... a good solution for a ... crimson guard  ;D Weapons are all old, but the broomholder is weird...

Thank you for these pics and revies,Jan! Something to look forward for next year  ;D

The archer looks great, I dont like that "knight" at all though, he might be more at home in science fiction than in medieval.. that helmet just as a very odd shape to it, then again some other newer knight helmets have as well, they are too wide and make the heads look rediculously big compared to their body.

Ýou're welcome.

It's true. Might be their doom as i said, on the battlefield they will always land on their heads. ;)

Also it may be difficult for them to get through doors and narrow passageways. Does the helmet let them fit through a regular steck type door?

regarding the helmet, it can be seen only as ceremonial, even in a fantasy setting, or for a warrior in a position of power! However, if this is standard equipment for a faction, it would still look awesome in big numbers  ;D again, so many posibilites on story and customisation!!!

Indeed, I've been wondering how to make a great looking minotaur using the helmet.

LOVE the archer, must have it! The knight is awesome too, really like the helmet. But I've never understood the point of a single knight coming with more weapons than he can possibly carry or use? Seems he could have been a regular special, with just one or two weapons and no stand to hold the spares.

Thanks for the review and the pics. :)

I like the archer a lot.  The target will be useful as will the klicky.  I'm not a fan of the knight, though.

I don't like the knight but I do like the archer.
I do like the stripes on the archer's pants, but his boots should have been in brown or black, not in this redish-colour.
I think the archer's hairpiece dates back to some medieval sets from the early 90's, no?

can you recreate the cover pose for the archer that makes it look like one hand his near the end of the arrow shaft and the arrow itself is sandwiched between the bow's "string" and the archer's wrist?

I'm curious if that pose can even be recreated without the assistance of glue or photoshop?

Haha, agreed! That is unfortunate that he has no armguard, but other than that, the archer seems nice. I noticed that the quiver is of a different style than that pictured on the box; how many of those blunted arrows can fit in the round quiver?

The demon knight seems cool too, and I really like the fact that he comes with a good selection and amount of weapons. I find that some of the sets now are lacking in weapons and equipment for the figures. Though of course, he is missing holders and arm pieces like you said. The helm is much cooler than I thought it'd be though, and I'll be sure to pick one up when I can. Thanks again for this review!

Only three holes in the quiver and the set comes with a total of six arrows.

The quiver has holes in it?  :o Or did you mean the target? I meant the quiver that hangs on the archer's belt, for hauling his arrows around.  ;) It's the little round-style one instead of the banded-type that is shown on the back of the box.

My mistake lost in translation. The target had three holes the quiver can contain three arrows, but they dont fit very well.

No problem! Thanks for the answer.  :) I was wondering how the individual arrows would fare compared to the attached ones.

cool! well done!  thanks for showing that the pose is somewhat possible!  (I still think the drawing arm in the cover art is somehow altered though, or some very creative camera angle work).

at least the arrow can fit between the bowstring and the wrist.  Does it stay very well?  Or is it precarious and will fall out easily?

Unfortunately, it falls out but not very quick it has a little resistance between the arm and the bow.

It's a great clicky.

A nice archer (aside the wristguard, but real men don't need one.  ;) ) who can easily be another friendly villager. I like how they didnt turn him into some armored mean looking soldier, this really looks like a clicky that could have been released in the early ninetees.

Something that I like about this set is the way that the target looks. It looks very realistic, as neither it nor its painted rings are perfect circles. The detail in the set is really cool, and I'm looking forward to getting one.

About 3 to 4 euros. The 18 dollar on e-bay seems like someone wants to sell them at places where these will be released later, and make some money with it.

I do not love the knight. I only like the helmet, but hate the colors, the printing looks sloppy and cheap.... and I can't get out of my head the the weapon rack is a victorian kitchen rack  >:(
