1st British Chinese Regiment (1898-1901)
« on: May 10, 2012, 01:23:24 »
The WEI HAI WEI (the very 1st British Chinese Regiment) opened fire on and bayonetted their own countrymen (the Boxers).
But the attacking Chinese Boxers who believed that they were immune to foreign bullets had to modify that view after massive casualties. :P

Wonderful customs, cheng, although the words WEI HAI WEI do sound as if they might be a Tyneside based Chinese contingent!

thanks Gordon!
you sound like you know much more...WEI HAI WEI ('HAI'=SEA) is a naval port on the north east coast of china...much like Tyneside is on the northest coast of Gt.B ;)
