Definitely stocking up on a few of these sets when I get a chance. I like the new hoods, and I spot two new types of shoulder mouldings in use. Also of course the new fantasy weapons, ultra-big sword and dragonhead axe, and the teeny daggers, and two new fantasy shield shapes. That looks like a new regular-size sword design in the 7975 pack too.

Lots of opportunity for customising, I'd put the hoods with the cloaks for a start.

The lizardskin leader is my favourite despite the faceprinting - I don't like those odd eyes.

Hello, Martin ...

To the best of my memory, those "eyes" first appeared about 1995 on the "Dragon Queen" in set 3841.

Heather's PlaymoDB (http://www.playmodb.org/) has a good picture of the Dragon Queen. (see attachment below)

NOTE: I don't know why I called this set the "Temple of Isis" as it looks nothing like the Roman Temple that was built in Egypt at Philae. (The original site is now under water because of the Aswan dam. The Temple was rescued and moved to Agilka !sland.) (http://www.discoveringegypt.com/philae1.htm)

Perhaps, a better name would have been the "Dragon Temple" which is much more relevant now with the release of Playmobil's Drachenland (http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Search-Show?cgid=Drachenland)!

Edit: Added "Note" ...

I really like those hoods! I am not too crazy about the dragon motif, I would prefer a more realistic geometric but then again they are pretty colorful!

In 7973 the 3rd figure to the right , is that a new face print? it looks similar to a foo man chu but with round eyes and angry eyebrows

I don't care for the large dragon wings.  That's just too much for my tastes.

They can be removed and replaced with quivers or scabbards, or you could just cut off the bobbles they attach to.

I almost said that, but chickened out when I couldn't access the head collection to verify my suspicions.

I try to make a point of being wrong at least five times a day, so my wife has something to forgive me for.

i think the "evil" eyes are older richard.  :hmm:
could they be the same as in one of the figures in the 1990 pirate barbecue 3794 set?  ???
there is also a figure in the 3750/3053 pirate ship with similar eyes, i think.  :yup:
anyway, these sets are not "my cup of tea" (the dragonknights, i mean).

Hello, Cachalote ...

The Pirate's Barbeque 3794 had the "Asian" eyes, but without the eye shadow!

see attachment

As you may already know, the original crew of the Pirate ship 3750 was NOT the same crew as the later United States version 3053. As you said, 3750 was released in 1990. However it did NOT have the crew member with the Asian eyes with eye shadow. I do not know when the US version 3053 was released that had the crew member with the Asian eyes with the eye shadow.

Maybe some other members here can help us out.

Richard
