This is a great topic, it really helps to get to know you all a little better.  My name is Joe, but I chose Basilsdad in honor of my Siamese cat, Basil who died about 2 months ago.  He was a dear friend and a Plamobil enthusiast. He was generally at my side as I worked (played) and enjoyed knocking all the men over and running off with them.  I think he actually just liked me to chase him.  ;)

I'm sorry to hear about your cat.   :(  I love cats.  They are so much fun.  I used to have a cat years ago.  I miss him.   :'(  This is wonderful way to honor his memory.

I'm sorry about your cat that ran away.  That happened to me once, too.  That is so sad.  I was worried sick for a long time.   :'(

They do have a way of insinuating themselves in your heart don't they?

I am worrried too...
The only thing I can think of that has happened besides the worst possible scenario is that there is a nice family who has found him and adopted him.
I still hope he will find his way back home,
but untill then I still have Smokey (my other cat).

That's what I always hoped for about my cat that ran away.  I hope that is what happened to your cat.  Or even better, that he finds his way home.

Yes, they do.  Despite all their craziness, aloofness, and finickiness (Is there such a word?  If not, there should be.), somehow they endear themselves to our hearts.  Darn them!

cats are such fascinating companions, and of course always in control.  years ago i had a studio above an antique store with a neighborhood cat that would visit me when i was working.  lucy would sit and watch me paint, for hours and hours, i could almost hear her comments, and critiques.  she was a black cat with white boots, except one day she walked through my palette and had blue and purple boots.  she pretended not to be upset, of course, but she spent the rest of the afternoon delicately cleaning her paws, as though it had all been planned.  i had tried to help her clean them, but she would have nothing of that.  kaethe
