As the enemy gathered outside of the kingdom's capital, the Balthorian soldiers prepared themselves for battle, standing ready at the main gate.

After a day long standoff, the mountain tribesmen suddenly approached the main gate. The Balthorian archers hastily loosed their arrows at the opposing side.

The soldiers in the front rank presented a line of sharp spears, pointed towards the enemy.
"Hold the line!!" bellowed the commanding officer, Horax.

The mountain tribesmen broke into a charge and attacked the Balthorians, easily breaking the front rank.

Sensing that the battle would be lost if reinforcements did not arrive soon, Horax gave the order for the signal to be given. A loud blast from the horn was heard over the din of the battle and the cavalry crashed into the right flank of the mountain tribesmen.

The hidden infantry, also hearing the signal charged out from behind the palace and engaged the left flank of the enemy.

The mountain tribesmen were soon surrounded and realized with despair that their fate had been sealed.

Horatio bellowed, over the din, at the enemy leader, Tobidubnus, "Come and fight me, if you dare!!"

Suddenly a caped figure, wearing a plumed helmet burst out of the crowd, whirling a double bladed over his head as he ran towards Horatio.

He swung his axe down, aimed at the arm of the Balthorian king, but Horatio deflected the weapon with his kite shield.

The force of the axe was so great that Horatio dropped his shield. Sensing the opportunity, the plumed warrior, in a slashing motion swung his weapon at the head of Horatio, who ducked and just missed the blade of the axe. The momentum of the enemy's swing brought him around, so his back was facing Horatio.

Horatio plunged his blade through the back of his opponent, inflicting a fatal wound.

King Horatio turned the man over stabbed him once more. He lifted the visor up and with shock realized that he was staring into the face of the enemy leader.

One mountain tribesman noticed and with alarm, shouted, "The general is dead!!"

The remaining mountain tribesman fled the battlefield, only to be pursued by the Balthorian cavalry. The soldiers threw their arms up in triumph with a throaty roar. King Horatio's army was victorious and the enemy would not dare to attack Patruicus and the rest of Balthor again.

I like how the queen is cheering in the last picture.  :)

Great story, will the kingdom truly be safe though?
