Hey! As I offered in the Jousting League thread, I can make your custom heraldry. Just make a short description with colours and designs and I'll do it for you.
Cheers.
Arnaud
PS: playmojaeger, I don't have your coat of arms in my collection so I would need a scan.

Barons do own lands.
In fact, barons can own quite a bit of land.
The Feudal system Works as such:

King,
Gives land to vassals (barons),
Gives lands to knights,
Gives land to peasants.

(Of course that is very simplified)
Barons would split there land between several knights.
So they would have to own quite a bit of land to do so.

Being the Middle Ages the mess we know they were (I mean, each land & lord their law), I believe there might be more than one definition to these things ... I'll try to see if I find anything about it.

Your hierarchical scheme works nicely and it makes sense, but where are dukes, earls and marquises? I always though in a sort of hierarchy among these too, like a Duchy is more "important" than a County (??) ... But I never got to actually figure it out. That's what I'll try to find out.

Appearantly, the general view of Duke/Count/Baron (in which the Baron is a lesser noble) is a British way, and the use of a "Baron" (King's vassal, or Graf/Count) as a general noble is a German way ...

But I have to read it more carefully ... It's Saturday morning, and I'm not quite in the mood :P

Great ideas everyone!!! Since my king is also a red lion one I should come up with a small difference myself... then our two kingdoms Warrior must be family  ;)

Maybe we can integrate why we have the same coat of arms into the D&D game... :D

This is the plans for the Grand Canal which will be connected with the Abyss lake. The lake is called Abyss because it is believed that there is no bottom level. In the lake there is a center island. On this island there is the town of Atlantis, capital of Ithaca Kingdom.

WoT can i have also the land that i  have added , North.

I will get started on that.

Thank you for this,
I am more then slightly confused by all of the terms... 8}
The Feudal system can get pretty messy at times.
There are times when it is not as layered as that.
England is as good an exception as one can get,
because the feudal system was forced upon them by William the Conqueror.
Whereas in other places the Kings had to negotiate with the people who were already in power.

It might be nice to have a page for each kingdom on Animobil with the coat of arms, detailed map, and a synopsis by the owner. The pages for individual knights and other personalities could go under that.

Had never seen this: Count is from Latin comes, comitis, (hence French Comte) which means (more or less) squire ... So

rex (king)
dux (general, leader)
comes (squire, companion)

(Earl is from Slavic jarl).

I'm still working on my coat-of-arms/flag (well, being honest, it's still in the realm of ideas only) but my country already has a name: Avalon  :**:.
Cheers!
