Title: Things in little.
Post by: Macruran on January 25, 2015, 23:19:12
This could be a fun thing that we do. Basically the idea is we take pictures of a PM thing on top of or near a real world thing that it is a copy of. I'll go first.

Here is the fireplace in my house, with A TINY FIREPLACE ON TOP OF IT. Note that I have got the bucket and fire tools there too. :D (Yes I missed a trick with the plant and candles, but those are recent additions.)

Greta idea it's a really good way of showing the scale of Playmobil items I've always liked taking photos of Action Men and Playmobil guys  with real life objects to show scale. I can already think of some tools my guys can pose with next to their real life equivalents wheelbarrows, secateurs and axes/hatchets spring to mind.

Three quarters of a million points to the first person to do a water buffalo!

Is there a Playmobil water buffalo? This challenge is impossible on both levels  ;D

 That I would like to see, seriously I think it would make a great photo opportunity.

Had an idea for another comparison I can do until I've taken some photos, old photos of my custom made Kelly Kettle (recently been told it's a Volcano Kettle, quite apt considering the way it bubbles and boils like a guiser at times  ;D)

This is a great idea! I will have to see what i can do. ;D

Btw, I just can't help myself... that is a cape buffalo, similar to a water buffalo but different. :-[ It's definitely awesome, though.

Cape buffalo! Thanks for the clarification. The cape buffalo piece is one of my all time favorite PM things. It strikes exactly the right balance between detail and abstraction. Plastic perfection!

PS the single DS buffalo is set #7977.

Yes, very well said! This is exactly what I love about most playmobil animals, and playmobil in general, really.

To be fair that cape buffalo can be hard to recognize when he's not wearing his cape.

Agh, they have water buffalos here at the zoo but no cape buffalos.  :(

Well no caped or uncapped buffalo's wander around in this area so I took this picture of a Jeep/willies/ford. A friend asked me to fix 3 he has. A 42, 46 and this 45. Last night we dug it out of the berry bushes off of a 2000 acre dairy farm. The broken down playmo one is on the hood. I should have taken pictures of the patties that were everywhere, I have playmo chocolate ice cream around somewhere  :P

One minor exception is the sad disproportion of the Meerkats

Permit me to stipulate that scale was not part of my original comment and is defintely something I feel PM does NOT get right with its animules. We are on the same page here.

IT STILL CAN

Yes we are. They did much better with the marmots (though even they are still a little large)

A friend is an artist who does some work in ceramics. He's been experimenting with botryoidal(*) forms lately. I saw a resonance:

Ah yes, the famous part which in its brown form is known as 'ice-cream, scoops in a pile' on PlaymoDB. I know, I have mentioned it before Heather, but I do like a good euphemism*! (It's only a euphemism in the stable sets...)

(*) Look it up. I did.

A special entry today! I have here a tiny Playmobil version inside...ANOTHER PLAYMOBIL!

CHECK IT OUT

That's 4664 inside 4239, with the puppets and pictures from 4664 re-presented with the actual klickies (plus one cayman) from 4239! Only the sign the cop is holding is not from there; it's from 5648.

HOW COOL IS THAT

This is a PM version of a person I know personally, but he doesn't do this job anymore so I can't show you the big person version. Trust me, it looks exactly like him. Yes their bicycle is blue.

Time to give this great topic a bump!
I have been meaning to share these pictures for ages:

First, a stick one of my children found in Cirencester Park made me think of this:

Here is the stick (I think it was Ivy when alive)...

...and with a clear plastic ball it looks quite like the PM version!

Here is the second one, the 'real life' version first, a piece of equipment dumped on a farm in Wishanger:

and here is the PM version...it's a bowser, to carry water, or slurry (liquid fertilizer derived from manure):

I looked up the word bowser and discovered it comes from the inventor, Sylvanus Freelove Bowser.
