Title: And another hello from Germany!
Post by: Nora on September 08, 2019, 19:02:54
Hi to all Playmofriends! I am 57 years old, living in the western suburbs of Berlin and a newbie in collecting Playmobil. I started just one and a half year ago. When Playmobil  has been released in Germany in 1974, I was – as a teenager – much too old to play with it  ;) . But my little nephew got a pirate’s ship for Christmas and I envied him terribly. But nowadays I can do whatever I like, so I started collecting Playmobil as a hobby. My husband sometimes think I have gone crazy but he likes the scenes I create, too. For me, I can relax from my job with my Klickies.

In the first months I grabbed everything I could get hold of  8} ! But little by little I realized that I love two topics most: the Modern Luxury Mansion 5574 and a ponyfarm that I created from various parts. I hope I will be able to display photos as soon as possible.

In German forums there is often a signature saying “Wer Fehler findet, darf sie behalten”. That means “Whoever finds a mistake can keep it”. I hope you do not find too many mistakes in my postings but I like to apologize in advance for my poor English. I learned it in school (ages ago) and use it so seldom at work that I really have to look for a refreshing course. Please do not hesitate to correct me if I’m awfully wrong with tenses or grammar or something is unintelligible!

I’m looking forward to exchanging posts and photos with you all here at Playmofriends and I’m happy to be here!

Kind regards,

Nora

Welcome from Munich! I hope you'll like it here.

I'm not really in a position to judge but believe your English is really excellent. You must have gone to some GREAT school!

Looking forward to see something of your collection one day. Have fun with PM!

Best wishes
StJohn

Welcome from Portugal!

But nowadays I can do whatever I like, so I started collecting Playmobil as a hobby.

I like your stance on things!  ;D

I really think your english is fine - and it is FAR better than my poor german (been learning for years now, but... well.. I still struggle :( )

Looking forward to pics of your collection!

A warm welcome from the UK!

You learnt your English well, maybe much better than some English people do!

Welcome!
I'm looking forward to seeing your creations- I don't think anyone has posted a pony farm scene on here before!

I will make one small correction to your otherwise excellent English:
When Playmobil  has been released in Germany in 1974...

Should be "When Playmobil was released.."
But I can't tell you why, because I don't really know!

Should be "When Playmobil was released.."
But I can't tell you why, because I don't really know!

Simple past (was) describes events that occurred in the past and are finished; past perfect (has been) describes events that occurred in the recent past and are relevant to the present time. For example we could say "The Playmobil Movie has been released on Bluray!" It happened in the past but quite recently and concerns an ongoing situation.

Dear Playmofriends,

thanks to all of you for your warm welcome and a special thank you to GrahamB and Macruran for correction ! The tenses in English are sooo difficult for me ::)

I have to ask for some patience until I can show you pictures of my pony farm. I only have space for one thing in my room and I am now busy with the mansion. If I built mansion AND farm there won't be place for me to step in the room

Bye for now

Yeah English tenses are rough but there's a lot of "give" in the language, such that people can understand even very error-ridden text.

Anyway, laissez les bon pics roulez!

Thanks, Tim :), it was your Christmas 3000 diorama that impressed me that much that I decided to join in here . I think I will never have such a big and wonderful thing but I try to do it my way and with my possibilities.

Regards, Nora
