Hello everyone!  We just received the Playmobil Space Shuttle as a prize from Playmobil USA. I know that this set was already reviewed about a year ago by @Redmao, but I thought I'd share a few more photos/thoughts.

So yeah, Playmobil USA recently had a contest on their Facebook page, asking people to share photos of of people (or their kids) with some vintage Playmobil toys.  A while back, I had set up a bunch of our older stuff and took a few photos with my youngest daughter.  So... I went ahead and submitted that, thinking... why not?  We were selected as one of the five favorite photos.  How cool!!!

Here is the photo that we submitted:

And the package arrive today!!!!  Yahoo

The box was a bit smashed, but who cares!

As far as assembly goes... it was mostly pre-assembled, so it was pretty easy overall.  However... the wheels were really hard to attach to the shuttle.  There is no way that my nine year old daughter could have done this on her own.

Pretty good detail on this set!

Noting that the rockets/missiles actually fire.  It's a strange friction based mechanism (no springs or anything.)  There is a small ball on the missile shaft that is pinched by the white plastic.  When you push it from behind, the plastic squeezes the ball, which propels it.  It goes a couple feet.  Pretty cool!  Except for the friction is tight enough that my daughter had trouble getting it to fire.  So from a children's perspective, that sort of stinks.

A close up of the astronauts.  These guys are pretty darn cool!

So that's it... a quick review.  And props to Playmobil! Between the PCC and Playmobil USA, we've actually won quite a few prizes over the last few years.  How cool to support a company that gives back so much to its fans!

The photo you submitted is a great picture.  I love all the different themes in the background and the pyramid next to the train.

Thanks The_Mad_Hadder!

That's 7340 - Medium landscape from the DS catalog many years ago.  Here's another picture of it, this time it's off to the left of the castle...

Thank you for the additional pictures. I Love it, wish they still did this or even made one in sand color, would be great for western dioramas.
