Get an aquarium, Martin! ... (Do you use this word in English? ...) A glass box for water, to grow fishes. It's a perfect (and right sized) place for underwater indoors Playmo submarine adventure, and it could give you wonderful pics ... You might even get some real fish ... Preferably some that look like sharks! :)

Hey, never mind!: I just remembered :-[ you said that you had a skeleton (or more than one) (or plans of doing so) underwater, in one ... Do you have fish at home? :)

Hey Martin, do British motels have swimming pools?  In the states, most motels above the rank of "Motel 6" have a pool, even if not large.  I worked at a Comfort Inn in college.  The pools are usually empty on weekdays.  You could take a short holiday and take your stuff.

Or if you have something like a YMCA, you might be able to find pool time late evening.

Or, hey, my uncle who lives in Lake Jackson near Houston has an in-ground pool... well, my other uncle in Kansas City also has a pool, but I'm not yet willing to tell him about my closet hobby.  And, besides he'd just sit around making wise cracks.

But, yeah, I share your pain.  I've been wanting to do something with my boats in an environment I have control of in case I capsize something.

-Tim

I'm sure I could find a hotel with a pool, but they cost more than a few of Gus's chrome golds. I'd rather spend the room fee on more Playmo (heck, with my Roman army I already have).

Just an idea ... ::) :P

I had three aquaria, but gave them away last year, after killing all my goldfish by misreading the instructions on some whitespot medicine and putting in 10x the correct dose. Even the biggest wouldn't have allowed the big 2-man sub to turn round, unfortunately, and as usual my major filming constraint is lack of space.

I think I'll have to do some Hollywood tricks like Rasputin did so effectively with his recent photstory. He filmed day-for-night, I'll do dry-for-wet.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway guys - I'm not lacking for ideas, just the time, space, money and will.

There are various tricks you can use to give an underwater look to a setting. Lighting is important, it should be focused to the front and a bit blue or blue/green in color with the distances dropping away into darkness

Oh, WOW!!  I hadn't seen this thread previously and I LOVE it!  What a marvelous way to show off new Playmo sets.  Argh, apparently you've done your job right too, because now I'm seriously trying to figure out out to get those dino sets into my possession.  And previously I was just happy owning the little Deinonychus that I ordered from DS.  And what with the Brachiosaurus set being recently retired, I better get on this!  :o

All your photos are utterly gorgeous and though I may be more a fan of temperate weather and cool forests, I'm finding myself quite envious of your beautiful Virgin Island scenery and all the vivid colors it contains.  Not to mention your little reptilian neighbors.  The jewel-like greens of the Iguanasaurus was very striking (green is my favorite color  ).  What luck having one wander right into your camp.  ;D  It was smart of you to capture it for a little photoshoot before releasing it again.

I am also quite enamored with your ability to magic the plane and Pteranodon up into the sky where they belong.  That shadow of the flying dino is particularly convincing and leaves me stumped.  What a visual treat.  If this is indeed what your on location photos of Atlantis will be like, than the wait will certainly be worth it.  :wow:

Thank you very much for your very generous compliments, SubaruWolf ...  :cloud9:

As I said somewhere else in this topic, it's "... the wonderful participation and "applause" from the PF members ... " that encourages us to do more!

I also noticed that an "Atlantis on-location" was NOT included on my original list. Looks like I will have to remedy that ...

Thanks again, SubaruWolf.

All the best,
Richard

RETURN TO DINO ISLAND Re: DINOS ON LOCATION
« Reply #125 on: April 15, 2010, 13:16:04 »

RETURN TO DINO ISLAND ...

A few days ago, we returned to Dino Island.

(In the attached photo, a small bit of Dino Island can be seen on the right side of the picture.)

There were such strange noises coming from the island, that I almost dropped my camera in my rush to get out of there.

However, we are thinking about putting together a second expedition to explore Dino Island. If we go back, we will have a heavily armed escort with us.
