Title: Culloden 1:10
Post by: specialist on December 29, 2018, 14:09:17
My first test staging of the Battle of Culloden 1:10 (between 600 and 700 soldiers for each side).
As it is only a test, there a few things not that accurate: The battlefield is too small. Cavalry should be on the side of the English infantry. A militia unit on the English side is missing (not enough kilts). Landscaping and architecture is very minimalistic but to get a first impression of the figures released from their boxes it works.

Incredible work. Could be a major PM event - get in touch with some Scottish historical society and it could go international.

Such a colorful bunch!!

So, I suppose military berets are approppriate hats for the highlander (from the figures) and his pals?

Are Highlanders and Lowlanders visually distinguishable?  :rudy:

A wonderful range of variations there!

@Macruran: My Highlanders wear kilts or striped trousers or trousers in green combined with checkered shirts. My Lowlanders wear brown and grey jackets/shirts, some of them have tricorn hats. Their dress is more "universal". Originally most of them wore the blue bonnets only to show that they supported the Jacobite cause.

Quite an impressive collection of Klickies. I assume non of the Scottish guys look alike. Is there also a Charles Stuart? I will be going back looking for Murtagh.

They look great and good use of those soccer legs with the kilts.

The original bonnets were very similar to Basque berets and the ones worn at Culloden were close in size to modern military berets. For whatever reasons the Scots preferred blue bonnets and both lowland and highland Scots wore them.

The main difference for the Jacobite supporters is that they wore a white cockade on their bonnets. Most cockades were tied in such a way they looked like crosses though were supposedly meant to represent a white rose.

Thanks :)  I struggled making a friend for the highlander, also regarding headwear!

You can go Braveheart Highlander and stick a medieval helmet on his head which would fit the look of the fi?ure highlander. It would also make it blend in with the HTTYD stuff. For the actual guys a blue beret of any shade blue (lots in the police sets) or even grey would work. Or you could just go romance novel highlander and have flowing long hair and open shirt or no shirt!

Wonder how many Playmofriends have been watching the TV series, Outlander?

Battle of Culloden alone is almost worth the look.
And, Tahra, you might also like the romance 😊

I don't watch it..  For me, two main questions are "violence with animals" and "ending well".  I have no problem with blood baths, generally, as long as no animals are involved. And for stuff with sad endings, I can watch the news.

The battle of Culloden with so many great figures. Fantastic!

And you perfectly fictionalized all the wonderful characters from Outlander.... so "Outlanderish" everything, I love it!

An outstanding and very impressive work. Thank you for showing.

(sorry for that very late reply, I just found the thread)

Wow, very well done. I love the reincarnation of battles, whether they are historical or entirely fantasy. The scale of your first few pictures was incredibly large and awe inspiring. Thanks for sharing, hoping to be able to do the same some day : )
