Title: fairies are out yay
Post by: macgayver on March 18, 2007, 12:12:49
Been waiting for them, the moment I saw pictures

Mostly for the trees and the new plants

I felt like the new queen fairy looked rather dissapointing
but with some small changes she looks a lot better

The flower seems to be for in the water ,needed gum to keep it straight

More Pics here ---> more pics  (http://www.macgayverplaymobil.be/fotos%202007.01.05%20Chess/elfenset.htm)

Been waiting for them, the moment I saw pictures

Me, too, Michael ...

Thank you for the fabulous photos!

The new "weeping willow" tree looks wonderful!

I have noticed that a couple of the younger fairies don't seem to have wings.
I wonder what they have to do to earn their wings? ... ;)

Thanks again and all the best,
Richard

Yes, indeed me too also was interested in this stuff because of the new plants -- only.
(The willow really is a must have).

i got these sets delivered on friday...i had been keenly awaiting their release since i first saw the sneak pictures last year!!

for the most part they met or exceeded my expectations. my favourite set is the carriage pulled by the green unicorn, followed by the rickshaw. my main disappointment however was that two seperate sets were missing a white lily flower head so i am now going to have to order them from ds.

i would recommend these sets to anyone as they are colourful and fun...and worth the wait

I've also bought each of the six Feenwelt sets, but I'm still waiting for them to arrive. So excited!! :D

There was absolutely no way I could wait until next year to get these.

Thanks for the close-up look at the figures and plants, macgayver! :lens: :)

So... not only a new hairstyle on the small girl fairy with the blue crown - but also a rosy-cheek face print! I didn't spot that on the earlier set pics we had. How sweet! I think she is my favourite out of all the little fairies. :yup:

Can we see a pic of the little girl fairy without her crown?

Yippee! My fairy package was delivered this afternoon! :woohoo:

Here is a shot showing the top of her head, hoppatussa. The crown is held in place by some small bumps.

It does come off very easily, so I expect a lot of kids will be losing that particular piece.

This new theme doesn't appeal me much...  except for the willow-tree, which is indeed quite nice.
And... hmm... perhaps those high hats of the child-elves (the yellow and red one with the dots) could fit an adult female klicky... have some kind of custom in mind...

So, could someone let me know the partnumbers for these hats? Thx in advance!

I was thinking about using them in a pic quite soon. Need to update justforklicks main page. ;)

See attachment for numbers. :)

The willow tree will definitely come in handy around the Mansion neighborhood!

And, luckily, the trunk comes in two parts. The bottom end of the trunk is almost flat, so you should be able to use it without the roots. (But you may need something sticky underneath to stop it from overbalancing.) ;)

Looks like that there is a possibility that the high hats might make very nice ancient Persian hats ... :eh?:

Thanks for the excellent scan of the part numbers, Sylvia!

Thanks for letting know those P-n°'s so quickly, Sylvia!  :)

Yes, that's also a good possibility. Personally I was thinking about using them for 16th Century Royal Court Ladies, the Elisabeth II- period. But it all depends on how good the hats fit and what they look like on an andult-klicky's head...

Hats loading into PlaymoDB shortly!  Perhaps someone could scan (and even inventory, hm?) some of these new sets so we all can have a look, pretty please?

Below is the list of recently-appeared sets for which I don't have instructions.  I realize a lot of them aren't even for sale yet, but I can't tell when they appear in the stores so I'll just put them all here.  I may have missed some, so check new sets when you buy them to see if I need sheets from any of them!

I'd be happy to scan and list all the parts for each of the 6 fairy sets. Should have time to work on it early next week. :)

Do you have a preferred resolution for the scans, Heather?

Thanks Jochen and Sylvia!  I've made a link on the main page to the current wishlist (under You Can Help), and taken both your pledges off of it.  Looking forward to them!  As for resolution: it depends.  The higher the better, of course; it's easier to shrink with good results than to expand.  All the little pictures are 100 pixels high, so you can test your scan in any paint program by selecting a box around a small part and seeing if the box is that high.  If it isn't, then the scan is still useful but the part-pictures won't look so good.

Just a couple extra notes for scanners: most scanning software has a "Moire"or "Magazine" setting that will reduce the dottiness of those gradated backgrounds - worth experimenting with.  JPG files, one per page, preferred, but PDFs or other graphic formats are manageable.  Don't cut off or omit the part on the (usually) last page with the part number and date of the instructions themselves on it - I need that to catalog them properly.  Finally, optional but terrific if you're up to it, would be a clear photo or scan of the klickys without accessories, so I can put them into "Who's That Klicky"!

Again, thanks so much to all volunteers!

Cheers, Heather

How did you order the sets from

can order from Germany or did you
get them some other way? I hope
you can order directly from Germany
because those new pirates are really

Hi,
How did you order the sets from
Germany?

I bought them from a German eBay seller. The listing was a set price "Buy It Now" item, not an auction, and the seller accepted PayPal so that made payment very easy for me. :)

The shipping cost was also very reasonable (12.50 Euros for all six sets) and it took the parcel only a few days to reach me. Everything was well packed and in perfect condition, so I was very happy with the transaction and would not hesitate to buy from them again. :yup:

I checked the retail prices of the sets at playmobil.de before deciding to buy, and the eBay seller was selling them slightly cheaper than the official website. Even with S&H added, it worked out to be a good deal and very likely cheaper in total than if I waited and bought them in the UK next year (since UK Playmo prices are always a bit higher than Germany). 8-)

This seller was only shipping within Europe, but if you check eBay you will probably find others willing to send to the US. :)

 Thanks,I'm not a member
of ebay so I have to go to

the cannons made so they
can't shoot... :hmm: I'll wait
I don't have much more room
for playmobil right now,but I'll
get more space also I'm afraid my
ship shelf can't carry any more ships.

Calling all fairy fans: the six new sets are now COMPLETELY inventoried and pictured, thanks to Jochen, who sent instructions, and Sylvia, who typed lists, looked up description after description, and cut out all the little pictures.  THANKS!!

I've discovered something about the large willow tree today which could be useful information for anyone thinking of ordering some. :)

The connector (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-27-7800) used to join the smaller willow tree to the land base also fits perfectly inside the base of the larger tree trunk (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-28-2620). This means the large willow tree can be placed into any hole of the correct size (think it's 8mm diameter) using this connector. 8-)

That's exactly the way this trunk is fixed onto the base plate in the new dino set 4175 (http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.static/Sites-EDT-Site/Sites-EDT/de_DE/imagesOnline/content/4175.jpg)...    ;)
Sorry, sylvia, I am coming up to it, because I learned it just yesterday. :)

@heather: I am not really sure, how do you exactly need the lists and the images cut out, but in general I would be willing to help you as well. :)
I realized, sometimes you already have the instructions but no inventoried pieces. are you distributing the plans to volunteers on demand?
what about a little tutorial, here at playmofriends? :)

Hi Socrates,

Thanks for volunteering!  The far-and-away most time-consuming step is making the list of parts.  Just a list that looks like the "Show text-only list" page linked at the top of inventory-pages will suffice:

Part #       Count   Name
--              --   --
30 02 6140   1x    Ground with 3 holes for mushroom stems (light green)
30 02 6460   1x    Fern leaves, small (inner) (light green)
30 02 6480   1x    Fern leaves, large (outer) (light green)
30 02 7120   1x    Hedgehog, mama (brown; tan)
30 02 7130   2x    Hedgehog, baby (brown; tan)
30 07 9740   1x    Mushroom stems (white)
30 10 2150   1x    Boy, white top & frilly collar, green shorts
30 27 7420   1x    Tree stump, hollow, large (dark brown)
30 64 5930   1x    Mushroom caps, spots (red)
30 65 2752   1x    Hat, mushroom-shaped (child-size) (red/white; white spots)
30 88 9252   1x    Instructions for 4194

Any format, separator, program, whatever you're comfortable with.  (I use Excel, because it's so easy to filter and sort with.)  Sylvia was very meticulous about what she named parts, by going back and searching for similar parts already in the database, but just a word or two to indicate which part you mean is sufficient to aid proofreading. I am also picky about names and may change them if I see fit; and some may already exist (or exist in a different colour, which should get the same name), so the name doesn't need to be re-invented. The colour and quantity are important.  For sets with more than, say, eight pages, I also note the page number the part is found on, to aid proofreading and to help find the correct little picture to crop.

The little pictures: also beautifully done for these sets by Sylvia.  I crop a rectangle around the part and its number and shrink it to 100 pixels high.  (I don't expand smaller ones, because I can then search on size and find ones that need improved quality.)  I reduce the colour palette to 16 colours and save as a non-transparent GIF, with the number as the file name: "30 88 9252.gif".    (I don't shrink or de-colour klickies or stickers, usually.)  This makes the graphic file really small, under 1 K in some cases, and when you are showing pictures for a 100+part set you'll appreciate that!  The instruction thumbnail I make by making 100-pixel-high copies of all the pages and sticking them together; if the result is ridiculously wide I'll make a second or even third row.  Instructions aren't de-coloured either, since the result is universally ugly.  I can almost always do all of these steps with IrfanView, a simple free Windows program.

So, either or both of these chunks can be done by volunteers.  Use your own instructions, or I'll send you a set you'd like to tackle.  Once you send me a list, I have to check for each part's existence, create the part (with category and subcategory) if it doesn't exist, and add the part to the set.  I can make pictures or process ones you make, afterwards.  Other jobs: scanning, see above; translating German-named parts to English (the German names are kept, if I ever get a bilingual site running); submitting invoices from Direct Service that show parts I don't have; filling in missing pictures; categorizing TO BE ASSIGNED (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/category.pl?category=TO+BE+ASSIGNED-) parts, imported wholesale from playmobil.de but mostly not yet put into sets (use existing cat/subcat names); take detailed pictures of klickies without accessories and/or write up descriptions of their body-parts a la Who's That Klicky.  (For this last, make absolutely sure the hair/beard (nor anything else!) has been altered from the factory settings.)  Some sets have a lot of parts but the hand-count is not known, and therefore can't be marked COMPLETE; these just need verification, so you can copy the list from "show text-list only" and fill in any blanks.

How's that?  Think you can find something to help with, out of all that?  Any contribution warmly welcomed; just let me know what you're up to and feel free to ask questions.

Good grief, what an essay.  I should make it into a webpage on the site, for visitors who don't pass through here.  I'll add it to the list.

Cheers, Heather
