Title: Catapult Towing
Post by: Wesley Myers on April 21, 2011, 18:03:54
Since the catapults have been designed with various holes on the front (see pic below), is there a way/harness/device to tow it?

It kind of looks like it might fit with this part: http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-61-0290 I don't think I have a catapult to look at though.

You could use some string and hook it on a horse.  There is a harness for the wolf knight catapult but only wolves can hook up to it.  You can look in the database.  I think the bronze wolfs are like 4806 to 4812 or something like that.

Thanks you two.

I look forward to finding out if it does fit and work.

Yes, I could use some string.  However, Playmobil designed it this way - quite probably for future potentialities.  Just wish that since it has been in use for so long they would have made something for it and promo'd it as such.

That would be the logical reason for DS brochure items.

Well, here's your answer Wesley  ;)

Brilliant Idea Bonnie!!!!  :)9 Now I'll have to go look for that part for all my 30 catapults!!!

It looks like you could also just hook one horse directly to it, maybe? Using those other two holes on the side?

Nope, can't e done, the harness does not fit in those holes and they can't be placed so widely because the neck harness is very ristrictive...

   I know... they are in retreat

And I wonder about DS too...

You'll need ropes or chains from the two side holes to the bar for lateral stability.

The old type ( black in colour ) should work , i have used these with nuremberg cannons and other bits

Sir Wolf , i have 23 of these catapults, and about 15 of the roman ones, i think we should combine all these and create a rain of boulders to an opponents army     . all these catapults together would be quite a sight !!!!     .. I need to buy some more, 22 aint enough right Sir Wolf ???  :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:

Nope, that won't work. These parts are made to be hooked on a narrow frame and they are not flexible to fit the wide frame of this catapult.

The difference is so small they do fit . I have tried that with success in the past . the ends of these clip nicely into the two holes of the catapult front section and voila !!! you got a catapult on wheels !!!!

Well I was wrong about the wide frame and fexibility, but unless you want your catapults being towed on two weels, better cut off that small end the do not allow the front weels to touch the ground...

nope, they dont sit at all on that position... its upside down you see and the black thingies are falling on the ground all thetime... unles you manage to customise a piece, the initial idea Bonnie had is the best solution.

Well, Unlike in the Kingdom of Krull, the peoples of Rutileo are very happy to help with the cause,
To defend their lands and their peoples, without such motivators as whips. :hmm:
