I've assembled my new Playmobil church and am very pleased with it.
It's a good size and has a lot of superb details. I especially like the stained glass windows and until
I got the church, I didn't realise that two of the windows had Klicky faces in them. I think the
church would make an ideal centrepiece for a Christmas display, especially if you illuminate the interior
so the light shines through the windows. I guess any low voltage cool running lamp would work OK as the back and roof of the church are open to allow air to circulate.
It took just over an hour to assemble and was quite fiddly, especially the flowers and sticking the stickers on the
building pieces around the walls. The steeple containing the music is in one piece apart from the clock hands.
I will attempt to add a picture to this post and add some more if this works OK. I tried attaching two photos but nothing happened, so fingers crossed for this one.
More pics to follow.......

The stained glass windows look really good, especially with a light behind them. The second picture shows how the image is reflected on a wall.

View from above of ceremony taking place. The lace train is a nice detail but a bit fiddly to fit.
-
View through the double doors. There is also a single side door with a sliding catch complete with padlock.

Shown next to the wedding Pavilion 4297. The Pavilion is an odd colour and doesn't match the church unfortunately.
I believe you can get a similar pavilion from Playmobil direct service which matches the church and mansion house better. I thought I could use the wedding pavilion with my Victorian theme but it doesn't look right in that pinky colour.

I would recommend the church as it would fit in with a lot of themes. I will probably only display mine at Christmas when I plan to combine it with some of the Playmobil seasonal sets. I have an image of the church with snow on the roof, the interior lit up and a procession of klickies walking up to the double doors with the Christmas market in the distance and possibly santa in his sleigh flying over the scene.
This is my first review so I may not have covered everything, but feel free to ask me anything you want to know about the church and I will attempt to answer.

Thanks for the great review! These sets have some really nice details. I love the bride's veil/train, so pretty. Thanks for sharing some up-close pics!

I'm NOT gonna get the church. I'm NOT gonna get the church. I'm NOT gonna get the church. I'm NOT gonna get the church. I'm NOT gonna get the church. I'm NOT gonna get the church. I'm NOT gonna get the church. I'm NOT gonna get the church.
I'm trying to persuade myself, showing that restraint thing (especially for System X), but you are NOT making things easier.
Thanks for the review, I think it's great :)
(it IS a nice building... I'm NOT gonna get the church. I'm NOT gonna get the church. )

Very good review, rogermobil. ;) Your pictures were great. I agree that it would be a nice addition to a Christmas display. Are all the pieces System X or is it a combination? Thanks for posting.

Thank you for this review rogermobil! The church is indeed a lovely set!! And it also gives a lot of opportunity for customisation!!! I'll agree with you, the pavilion in pink is a little... I bought the pavilion add on from DS that suits the previous mansion better...
Keep up the good reviews!!! A most valuable contribution!!!

Basilsdad,
The Church is all System X. It's a shame about the visible holes, especially in the floor, but most of them are covered up by the rug that runs the full length of the church. It would have been better to have some sort of stone slab floor more like a real church, but it's still a great set. I do plan to get all the other wedding add ons before they are no longer available.
Thanks for all your kind comments! :thanks:

Great review  I love the wedding veil and those windows, but I wholly agree with you in the unsightliness of the visible system-x holes.

Excellent review and pictures, Roger, many thanks.
That church is certainly nice and well thought out by Playmobil, a neat blend of the traditional and the modern with those stained glass window designs.
TTFN - not often you here that nowadays!

It's so tempting when you see reviews like this! I bought the pink pavilion the other day and was thinking of doing a review.

Would you please (if you review it) show us how it is from above? I need to see how the roof pieces join together! :)
thanks!

I thought the roof was made up of 4 corners from the 5300/5301 house

I thought the roof was made up of 4 corners from the 5300/5301 house
it has a straight piece in the middle. what I want to see if there is some special thing on top and if the back is opened :-[
-
The roof is made up of 4 corner pieces and two flat dormer pieces. They are connected at the top with a flat piece (30 26 2490). There are two 2 unit sides with the window mullions and two 3 unit sides, one has the window mullions and the other is open. The open side can accommodate a clip that holds the roses.
Hope this asnswers your questions, Gaston. ;)

Is there any building that this pick one actually matches. I thought when the 5300 with sun room was discontinued and the 5301 came out there was a pavilion that matched the 5301 yellow color. This pink pavilion, what is it supposed to go with ?

great Joe thanx!!
as an extra I learnt I need the green clip!
Thank you! ;D

My only thought is that the pink color was to appeal to little girls. This set also includes two rings and a jewel box. :o
-
When I purchased it I was choosing between the pink one and the yellow one. I thought the pink one was better value for money with all the figures and accessories and as for what it matches I decided as I have a 5300 and a 5301 that I didn't want to make the 5300s look odd because they were not the same colour so I was happy with it matching in terms of styling.

I don't think the pink pavillion was meant to go with any of the doll houses; as part of the wedding theme, it's a free-standing party pavillion for holding events in. The pink is a little silly, but since the wedding theme is for girls, I guess they figured they'd make it a girly color. Of course, this really limited its usefulness. But this may have been brilliant on their part. This one comes with cool accessories, the other one is a better color, so it's a good reason to buy both!

Roger, Loved your review!
I just adore the entire wedding set! The church is exquisite with lovely stained glass windows and a very open roof design that lets you see what is happening inside. I purchased a second one to enlarge the church, but have not put them together....YET!
We had the entire wedding set on our coffee table during my son's recent wedding at home, and the guests adored the set, too. It was fun watching adults going gaga over toys! This is an unbelievable set that leaves you feeling happy, which should be the objective of any toy.
There are several different brides and grooms in the different sets, but none are from other ethnic groups. So I guess that if you are not Caucasian, PM won't marry you! Oh poo, poo!
Anyway... if you are hanging on the fence about whether or not to buy this set, the answer is a resounding "yes, yes, yes!"
And now you can say that you attend church every week/day/or whatever! Pgal

Thanks for the fab review Roger. I particularly loved the photos of the light coming through the stained glass windows. So much good stuff...so little money.
