Title: Hello from Belgium!
Post by: singleklicky69 on October 10, 2017, 18:24:02
My name is Bart and been a Playmobil fan since childhood.
What I remember is as a child I used to play with these rubber bendable figures.
Later there was this brand Play Big which I owned a few sets from.  Then Playmobil
arrived at the scene and I vividly remember bothering my mum at the store to get some single Klickies.
Me and my sister got some sets from my grandmother and aunt too :-)

Years later I would try to get some of those child hood memories by starting a collection.  I am only interested in the vintage sets.  I have collected some of them and some are rare and hard to find.  I helped out with the Playmobil Collectors book where you can find some pictures of some of my boxes.

So that is my story in a nut shell.

Welcome aboard from... Belgium!

So, then you have been around as Playmobil-collector for many years, since you helped out with Axel´s Playmobil Collector books?
And are you on other forums as well, Klickywelt maybe?

Welcome, Bart.  What a wonderful collection!

Welcome from the Netherlands.

Especially the medieval sets where already very good from the beginning I feel, they have many civilians too and lots of buildings, allowing for beautifull diorama's with only classic stuff.

At the time, I was on collectobil.  It has been a while, I was actually looking for that site but is no longer available.  I seem to remember your name from somewhere.  :)  No, no other forums.

Yeah, been a collector for some years now, only MIB in sealed bag. I haven't been active for a while due to personal reasons.

Yeah, true.  They put out amazing sets in those days.  I liked them all, but western and police sets where my favorites   :D

Western is a good classic theme too, at least for cowboys and forts. I feel like the Indians only came into their own once they where no longer white.

Modern theme lacked buildings in the classic years, they never had a classic police station I think.

On my railway layout (which I hope to start work on soon) I am planning to use mainly classic klickies with turnable wrists, with only a few modern klickies where the classic ones aren't suitable or customs can't be made to suit the role.

Welcome to the forum, Bart! I live in Belgium too (Antwerp).
First of all, thanks for your contributions to the Collector book, I've used it countless times.

I'm one of those collectors who rips open a blue box within five minutes after purchase, but I understand the appeal of collecting MISB too.  ;D

I hope you have a great time here.

Well, I keep my boxes closed for sure  ;D ;D ;D

And do you perhaps have famous color-set 3660 "Kaufmannszug" MISB ?
Personally I´d love to see detailed (boxart) pictures of that one

Welcome Bart! Nice vintage collection! Are you still missing a lot of sets?

Is the Collector book still available somewhere? I think I missed that one :) , amazing that you were able to make some contributions!

I do own the very first wigwam in the red box but I cannot seem to find it, it must be in my storage.

I hope the pics are not too large for the forum. My apologies if they are.

Yeah, the collection is not complete, but I guess pretty unique, so I won't complain  :)
Yeah, you can find the third edition already on Amazon. It is easy to find elsewhere too.

Great sets! I would not trust the fellow that's holding a scythe with a smile on his face towards that barking dog though.  ;)

^ That's your imagination!!  I thought the dog was about to hold it in its mouth!

Fascinating to see the boxes with the description of everything on the back.  That would have stopped me using the old fire extinguishers as megaphones!

Welcome! <*) That is really cool that you helped out with the photographs for the book. There probably aren't very many of some of those sets still in existence (at least complete).

First, let me welcome you (late though this welcome is!) to the wonderful playmofriends forum.

Second, thanks for posting those pictures of vintage sets here, as well as sharing them through Axel Hennel's wonderful Collector book.

I hope the pics are not too large for the forum. My apologies if they are.

Its great to get large pictures, so we can study the details. It depends on what platform one is viewing the pictures, but I quite often have to scroll a post sideways to see the right hand portion of pictures. This isn't a big problem, though. I think any picture wider than 1000 pixels will require scrolling.

I was interested to see you had opened a couple of your MISB boxes. That yellow male Indian set (3352x) is interesting as several of the parts differ in colour from the picture on the box. Here is my picture of the set (made by copying the box picture, collecting parts from different sources, not opening a MISB box!). Incidentally, this picture is 500 pixels wide

Here is your picture of the same set (768 pixels wide)

In your set the canoe is light brown (not white), the cuffs and necklace are blue (not red and green), the headband is yellow (same as the box) and the feather is not visible (red on the box). In another set shown on klickywelt.de the canoe is light brown, the cuffs and necklace are green, the headband is red and the feather is white. The spear decorations are red and white in all three sources.

All of which goes to show how much the parts varied in colour in the early days and how hard it is to state with any certainty what a set contained!

If you ever find any more of your MISB boxes 'fall' open, it would be great to see pictures of the contents, even sealed in the plastic inner bag!

I was also puzzled why that Lyra set with two klickies in it stated on the box '1 klicky'. Is Greek counting somehow different?

(I reduced the image width from 1280 pixels to 640 pixels in that quote)

You may want to put this into the collectors corner

(I suppose we are way OT)

That's Starbuck! Ours (1984) has green necklace + thingies, and a lighter canoe (they are not white). Also, he didn't bring a bucket. MIA.

I don't recall the arms decoration color.

... a lighter canoe (they are not white).

OK, white-ish. More like cream I suppose!

"cream canoe" that sounds really nice for some reason. Like a nice dessert.

Thanks for the reply, sorry it has been a while since I've been on the forum.  It is not difficult to open the 'MISB' because it is not like the blue boxes are sealed.  Sorry for the large pics, I will use smaller pix next time:)
Kinda weird yeah that the plastic has color variations, I owned the set with canoe when I was a kid, it was 'cream' colored, not brownish.  I don't remember which color the hair band had. But I guess there are variations, depending on the production in those days?

Haha, I had not noticed that the Greek set has the label 1 Klicky while there are 2 inside :-D
