Hello, EVERYBODY ...

Souvenirs, sand ... :)

How about some pictures instead?

I have a Playmobil Pirate with me who wants to take everyone on a tour of the Caribbean. And, it seems that I may actually have a good internet connection. So, over the next few weeks, my little Pirate Klicky and I will try to entertain you ...
;)

Wonderful idea, Richard! :D
Hope you don't mind me splitting this from your topic in the "Welcome" board. I thought it deserved a special place of its own. :-*

If people are going to cry whenever I move or split a topic it will make my job a lot harder. 8} While I enjoy rambling topics (and have been known to actively participate in them thus adding to the rambling ;)) I also like order and organising stuff in a logical manner. (Sorry, it's an incurable trait. :-[)

I am constantly thinking ahead when I read topics and decided that your pirate photos could eventually get lost inside your intro topic due to it's length. Making a new topic in the photo-oriented board will make it easier for newcomers to find them. Please think of this as a bold and exciting new beginning rather than an end to your other very enjoyable topic (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=262.0). :-*

I'm now eagerly awaiting more photos of Tim Dawkins, just as I'm sure everyone else is!
:D

Hmm... I think this calls for a piratey-looking smiley to be added to the PF range. Leave it with me. ;)

Richard,
Your pictures deserve to be in the gallery.
Now where is Water Island is relation to St Thomas, N, S, E, or W?

There is no fresh water source on St John; the people have collection basins built when they build new homes.
Is there Fresh water on St Thomas?

Thanks for splitting this out. I had completely missed it. I tend to ignore thread once I have responded to them once or twice, so seeing a new topic helps me find it.

Tis a great picture there Matey. :)

Certainly more pics, Richard, please, and I think we'd all better do as Sylvia says - as I mentioned in a post in another thread, her new avatar has that look which says "You will do as you are told and enjoy doing it!"  Don't be fooled by that wink - it's just to put you off you guard.

Whilst Tim Dawkins is off looking for more Caribbean sites to share with everyone, I'll answer Meg's question.

None of the Virgin Islands have fresh water. All of our water is caught from the rain on our roofs and stored in large concrete cisterns beneath our houses. Water Island HAD a fresh water pond that some say was spring fed. Unfortunately, the pond is now open to the sea and has become a salt water bay.

Before Tim Dawkins left he had this to say, "Now, Richard, yer bein' d'fine gentleman dat y'are ... ye can be sayin' it delicate like t'dat yeller-'aired lass, wot got d'tic wot make 'er eye be blinkin' all d'time, dat pirates never cry ... No matter wot it be lookin' like, dey's not cryin!"

I'm sure that Tim Dawkins and his little buddy, Chi-Chi will just be fine. He a bit gruff on the outside, but has a heart of gold (most of the time) ... ;)

All the best,
Richard (and Tim ... and Chi-Chi)

Hello, everyone ...

FM T.Dawkins (and Chi-Chi) just dopped this off on their way to find some historical sites to share with y'all.

If you look off in the distance (just below Tim's hand), there appears to be three small islands.

Actually, it's one island connected with sand spits.

This is Buck Island. (Most populated islands in the Caribbean have a small Buck Island just off their coast.)

"Buck Island" was where the young native men were placed when they became a nuisance to the young native women. ... :)

Aaargh ... Too far t'be swimmin' thar' matey ...

Would you be snorkeling on the reef?

Hello, Meg ...

As you can well imagine, FM Tim Dawkins, like any self-respecting pirate, NEVER snorkels ... ;)

However, if you're asking me ... No, we do not snorkel on the South side of the island. And, actually, the best snorkeling is over on St.john (a mere three and a half miles away). A long swim, but a short ferry ride.

Magen's Bay on St. Thomas (North side of island) is good swimming, but usually not great snorkeling. Coki Beach (East side of island) is pretty good for snorkeling. But, I really prefer St, John for the best snorkeling.

Why do you ask?

All the best,
Richard

Well, I liked the snorkeling I did in St John.

I wondered if the snorkeling was comparable on St Thomas

Which places are the best snorkeling on St John? ( so that I know if I get a chance to return.)

I guess I cant be a pirate, I love swimming in the ocean too much

now, I am an older woman. And fairly well educated, too.  Theres money to be made in OWNING the tavern.

Ill do the serving and cooking when need be.
I am used to hard work, and am first to line to help out when misfortune has hit.
But I will NOT reward stupidity.

The girls I hire are honest wenches.  They may make some money on the side, doing things that would makes their mams blush, but they do not rob the cliental.  They'd be out of a good job, should I hear of any such nonsense.

The rooms I let are clean, and secure.  Paid for in advance, of course.

The captns like me because there will be NO shanghai-ing on my premises.  Their crews wont be disappearing on them, unless they're bad captns

I am also known for teaching those that want to learn their letters, and their numbers.
The mateys know that their pay increases if they can do more than keep the rigging taut.

So, I'll be the owner of a well run, honest tavern, with a house on a bay, and Ill be swimming when the crews are out catching their booty.
