Could not resist to buy some extra rhino's and elephants, for a safari setup. So I bought the 5417 not a lot of new stuff, but a lovely little set if you want to extent your safari theme. First the front and back cover of the box.

The contents shown. Seems a lot, but most of it is tree.

The baseplate assembled. Looks really 'savannah like' if you ask me. More than the former sets. Furthermore, I just realised that the hole in the rocks were another rock can be put in is there if you want to customize. Stupid I never realised that before! :-\

The rest of the inventory shown here. I really like the lunchbox, safari documentarist must eat too! Is it something new, that lunchbox? The cool box has the zebra logo, which is not a sticker but printed on to it.

The animals and the klicky.

Final setup. (Looks like that leopard is in trouble! Good thing elephant and rhinoceros can't climb)

Amazing set and great review!!! I love how they put all the heavier mammals into a single set!!!!
-
Thank you for the review... The large elephant is among my favorite playmoanimals.. and I love the rhinos too, though I think I prefer the older version.
That baseplate is GORGEOUS for some reason!
-
Fantastic set!
So many adventure possibilities in a single box.
-
Another great review, Jan. The pictures are super. Love the baby elephant and rhino!

Great review, thanks! I really really love that baseplate!!! Hadn't noticed it before, but it looks really good. Afraid I'm going to have to get this set just for that.
-
I love this set and I want it too. I think the base is the same from the caveman with the mammouth tent but with different colors. I don't understand why they didn't do a new one. And I have seen many copies from other parts to many new sets. No more new ideas from Geobra?? Many thanks for the review.
George.

Thank you for the review!!
I love the new baseplate. I think the rest of the set is ok, but nothing is, except for the baseplate, really new and surprising. Still looks like a great set anyway

I don't think it's a matter of no ideas, it's just smart planning. The more sets they can create using the same mold, the more money it saves them, and by extension, us.

So, crisis hit Geobra too?  I understand your meaning bb, thanks for your answer.
George. :)

I think it's understandable that they reuse the molds... And for the best, also. But.. must it be the same color too!?
Like those red buckets. How many freaking red buckets are there in the sets? Can't they be ANY OTHER color? (there are VERY few other colors compared). Or the yellow brooms (we got all excited with the witch figure from series 1 because of the BROWN broom!)
-
Just buckets period! I have stacks and stacks of buckets in lots of colors. At least it seems natural to have lots of them at a zoo, but still, it's a bit out of hand!
-
Lots of colors?
I can think of a gazillion red, a few grey.. one white...
-
Red, blue, silver, pale green, dark green, yellow.

Yes, but I would like to see that tree stand up to the elephant for long.
Very nice review, and a lovely set.

great review of a nice animal set, we never have enough of those animals.
I too hate the lack of color choices used in Geobra's planning. I could use difftent colored things in so many parts its ridiculous. Like trees for example or the folage to trees.
