Title: Playmobil Down?
Post by: tigana123 on January 29, 2024, 11:10:40
It seems that Playmobil site(s) are off, probably wordwide (!!). I have checked the ones in Germany, England and Greece !

Playmobil Belgium works, and it looks like it's been renewed.
The website is structured differently, it looks different, and I can't find the DS tab, but instead themes like the nostalgic dollhouse are now grouped in with the regular dollhouse sets. Maybe/hopefully that's the reason?

UK site is back up, but it has had a refresh (looks like it might be more 'mobile friendly'?). UK still had Playmobil Plus separately - but the sets have always been grouped under both here (I'm not sure if the site has more rational grouping of sets now).

yes, it seems that they changed the web site(s) overall look and feel... Don't know if I really like this new site !!!

On the UK site if you hover over "New & Exclusive". there is a drop down with, under Excluvise, Playmobil Plus.

I'm not over-enamoured of the site at first use.

Seems we are back having to click "show more"...

And can't add anything to cart from the details.. only the lists...

And now we're (almost all?) .com , instead of .pt, .es, .de...

And I get the german site when I did... something. Without meaning to. (ours is still in that insulting mix of pt-br + es)

Also, is there a direct url for a part number, as before?

We'll see if they get their acts together..

I've done a search for building instructions for an old item, the 3880 fire engine and they aren't there.  I imagine this applies to most of the earlier items, or will the database be built up gradually?

A search on spare parts for the VW Beetle - hubcap and bootlid - comes up out of stock

Eugh, site looks ok but no spare part search URLs can initiate from a script/spreadsheet is painful.

I managed to lose the flag holder from top of the Red Coat Caravel on a trip to put it on a model boat lake (with the RC unit). Now each time look for spare parts it’s a very manual process

Exactly!

That inability to search using a script is a devastating blow. Mind you, I haven't tried it yet.
Parts finder is still there and the ability to get missing/ damaged parts free of charge is a great addition.
Some instruction sheets from 2023 sets seem to have been taken off as well as older ones.

Ah yes, thank you! Today the Playmobil Plus tab also generates the list of DS themes, such as the nostalgic doll house. I suppose it was still under construction yesterday

I'm not over-enamoured of the site at first use.

I never am when they change a website, so I was trying to be PoSiTiVe. In reality, I think it looks off, less appealing (more white and smaller pictures), the theme/play world icons in the menu are far too small and I absolutely hate the fact that the tabs open up and cover your screen every time you accidentally hover over the top bar  :toot:

So do I, why software is produced like this I cannot fathom.  Idiocy?  Carelessness?

Ditto.

And another thing....

When searching for building instructions, you used to be able to enter the first 4 digits of a 5-digit set number (or the first 3 of a 4-digit one) and the results would show up to 10 consecutive sets. So 7056 would yield 70560, 70561, 70562....,70569, if these instructions existed. This made checking for new instructions much easier than having to enter every number separately.

The results one gets now are also bizarre, for example entering 7014 yields instruction links for 9848 and 6445!

I have yet to find one improvement in the new websites compared with the old.

Nowadays, Graham, in the world of so-called "software engineering" that's called a success.  Failure is when the new software doesn't work at all.

I'd have to agree with all of you. The new layout is definitely not an improvement.

Was the box size information provided before?

100% almost sure it was mentioned on some sets, in that small text

Guess you are part of the second (or worse) rate customers. Their precious german customers got the same... but their newsletter has a 15% discount on "almost everything" (I think)

Makes me so sad that they treat us like this :(

This company really is scraping the bottom of the barrel for competent staff .

If your one job is setting up the E-commerce site for a 1/2 billion dollar company and these are the results. I’d suggest a mop and bucket is in your future.

As if the company can afford to have the main contact point with customers dysfunction

Oh but playmobil spends all their time worrying about who gets to see new release pictures

Pathetic people in charge

Works OK in the UK and 15% off everything with a special code.

It must be unique to him, I can see everything on the US. Unfortunately, no discounts or free figures for us though.
