They look very neat, as one would expect of master.
Now to see what will be on top of them.

....combination of some old parts and new flags

Hi Cheng,
great :)9
Looking forward to see more...
Greetings
Andi

thanks Andi!
here's how I've fitted them;
the 'porter' is actually the lowest rank soldier probably only useful for a skirmish using those very long spears like those in the medieval armies....the flags are held open by their black shellac poles.
anyone can guess which part their hat veils come from?
-
The nun's headdress?
-
The old arab things?
-
The nun's headdress?
I don't have any :P
yes, Tahra, those Arabian veils ;D

I've never come across those before.

Uhm... you must - they are white (afaik), and were very popular in the old arab sets... Then had a (red?) "ring" on top..
Example: 3586 (from playmobil.de) (http://www.playmobil.de/beduine-dromedar/3586-A.html)
-
maybe its my poor vocab....would you call them veils if they cover the back of the heads instead of their faces?

I wouldn't call them a veil.. but don't know WHAT to call them.
I forgot about that more recent dark one :-[

thanks too Mad Hadder.....I must try to remember....Heather call it 'cowl' too....I used to build plastic model planes and helicopters....engine cowls usually referred to those hard, shell-like covers, so somehow this term felt funny referring to soft headwear :P

Ah, thanks, tahra. I've never looked closely the Arab theme. I understand now.

I would only have applied that where the head covering was attached to the body of the garment.
The headdress worn by Arabs is a ghutra

meaning we can only use the 'generic' name 'cowl' for Kenobi in Star Wars (or Red Riding Hood or a priest) and not for the arab headress (which is just a piece of cloth over the head)?
-
As plymofire pointed out ghutra is the name of the head dress worn by Arabs.

Heather probably has the most appropriate names for those types she listed as kerchief, head scarf, head dress and hood...thanks everyone! :)
