I have a couple of Schenk (http://www.collectobil.com/guide/schenk.html) men (minus all their accessories) and have decided to keep them even though the quality of manufacture is much lower than Playmo. :yup:
Here's a comparison picture I took a while back showing the differences between the bootlegs and the real thing. The gold fig on the left is, of course, the "wrong 'un", though it's pretty easy to tell when they are placed side by side. ;)

I wonder how many different manufacturers have either "pirated" Playmobil's Klickys or have made their own original figures in the same style or scale?
Other than Schenk, I know of some Chinese and Turkish pirated figures, as well as some original figures that were made by Dragon Models Ltd. of Japan and W.Britains Ltd. of England.
Are there any others?

Not to forget the Play Bigs ;)...
There were also figures from Hong Kong in the seventies called Play Well; they were a curious mix of both Playmobil and Play Big with flared legs and torso with imprinted buttons and pocket. That figure looks like Play Big to me; the big german competitor of Playmobil in the seventies...

I thought that Play-Big figures were larger than Playmobil ... ???
I have never actually seen any Play-Big figures, so I really don't know.
However, in the LGB photos, it looks like the figures that they are using are the same size as Playmobil ... ???

The Play Big figure is definitely larger, and IMO, very ugly compared to the beautiful Klicky ... :)
The LGB ToyTrain was introduced only a few years ago. (About the time Playmobil introduced their RC trains.)
As you probably know, in the early days of Playmobil and LGB, there were several LGB train sets that were packaged with Playmobil figures. It's too bad that LGB and Playmobil don't still have the same friendly relationship that they once had. I wonder if LGB went to China and had Play Big figures made for them? I also wonder if these "Play Big" figures were scaled down to fit with the ToyTrains? If so, that would mean that there are "Play Big" figures out there that are the same size as Playmobil.

We are now on a topic that fills me with dismay. I think the world of LGB trains and I love Playmobil. LGB started and has perfected the large scale train for indoor and outdoor use. I just picked up a 20 year old LGB/Playmobil train and it worked perfectly first time. I didn't even have to clean the track. LGB has now installed as standered a MTS system so that the controller actually controls individual trains via chip technology. Can you imagine if these two huge organisations were still working together ? so that instead of waisting their money on two different starter programmes (Playmobil RC and LGB toy train series) it was all ploughed into to one programme. We would have beautiful locos with a fantastic engine to power them. It would benefit both companies to work together also they are not exactly a million miles away from each others head office. I am not too sure what happened between the two companies to cause the split I only know that the toy/model world is sadder for it

I think that most of would agree with you. Both Playmobil and LGB lost something very special when they chose to no longer work together. It's a real shame ... :(
