I am loving this!  It's also giving me even more inspiration for when I do my own zoo diorama... and makes me find more stuff that I "need" for it.  LOL

But I love this! The suspense between parts is killer though!  I want more!
I'm glad that I'm not the only one :)

Part 3: More African Animals
and: What Toby Didn't See

'There's the train!' said Toby.

'Come along,' said Mummy, 'We are going to see the Zebras.'

'Isn't this wonderful!' said Mummy.

'I like the water,' said Toby.

'Do you think the water is very deep?' Toby wondered.

What Toby Didn't See:

Toby didn't see the off-exhibit area.

Which includes holding areas for the animals who are rotated with the others on and off exhibit.

What Toby Saw:

'We passed the Giraffes by going to see the Zebras,' said Mummy, 'So let's go back to see the Giraffes now.'

'But there's Lions!' said Toby, 'I want to see the Lions!'

'We can see the Lions next,' said Daddy, 'Giraffes first.'

'These Information Boards are very interesting and educational,' said Daddy.

'Can we go and see the Lions now?' asked Toby.

What Toby Didn't See:

He didn't see the other viewing area.

And he was unaware of the off-exhibit facilities.

Wow, what amazing attention to detail, Raven. I am loving the behind-the-scenes sections which remind us that keeping animals in captivity is no simple undertaking (well, it should be done properly, for sure).

Toby is going to get a go on that train (and a visit to the shop), I feel certain! And his speculation about how deep the water is, don't children always do that, though?

I can see parts from four 'generations' of Playmobil Zoo here, not to mention many other themes. Great work!
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

These off exhibit areas are fantastic! There's never space for those in big dioramas, but it's a great idea just setting up smaller parts at a time so we can see more detail. Really love the giraffe barn, it reminds me of the one in Houston. I also love the way we transition from one exhibit to the next, going around rocks and plants. That's something else that's hard to do with limited space but you have accomplished it so well.

In the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.

No.  The shelf unit with pegs comes from the 5567 Kindergarten - which I didn't buy; I just ordered a few interesting parts from.  I don't know what that shelf-with-pegs is meant to be: it makes me think of storage for outdoor shoes, with the pegs underneath for bags containing indoor slippers.

More than that, though, it makes me think of  somewhere to hang keys!  But keys don't hang on there easily.   They do fall off again very easily.  There were many curses behind the scenes.  I replaced those keys many times. I threatened them with poster putty.  They eventually agreed to stay there long enough for me to take a photo.

Thanks for the explanation :)

Looking forward to more!

Part 4: Off to see the Lions
and: What Toby Didn't See

'We're going to see the Lions now!' said Toby, happily.

'Come on, Toby,' said Daddy, 'You can squeeze in here.'

'These are not Lions,' said Toby.

'No, they are Meerkats,' said Daddy.

What Toby Didn't See:

The Meerkat off-exhibit area.

What Toby Saw:

'I want to see the Lions,' said Toby.

'We'll see the Lions next,' said Mummy.

'Just follow Daddy,' Mummy said.

'I can't see any Lions,' said Toby.

'There, right at the back, in their den,' said Daddy.

'I still can't see them,' said Toby.

'Well, you can read information about them here,' said Daddy.

'Oh, does your little boy like information?' asked a lady, 'There's a Lion Information Centre nearby that he would enjoy.'

'Wonderful!' said Daddy, 'We'll go there.'

What Toby Didn't See:

The Lions' den concealed the entrance to their off-exhibit area.

The off-exhibit building includes a holding pen for the Lions which were on-exhibit today.

And a holding pen for the Lions who will be on-exhibit tomorrow.

Part 5: Toby is Unimpressed
and: What Toby Didn't See

'Here's the Lion Information Centre,' said Daddy.

'We're quite near the Children's Play Area,' said Toby, hopefully.

'Let's go and read all the interesting information about Lions,' said Daddy, firmly.

'Do we have to read everything?' whined Toby.

'There's an educational film about Lions here,' said Mummy.

'I don't really like educational films,' said Toby.

'Can't we go to the Children's Play Area now?' asked Toby.

'No Toby,' said Daddy, 'We're going to see more animals first.'

'You can go to the Children's Play Area later,' said Mummy.

'We'll go this way, 'said Daddy, 'And see what's along here.'

'What's in here?' asked Toby.

'Come and see,' said Daddy, 'It's very interesting.'

'Hyenas!' said Daddy.

'I can only see their bottoms,' said Toby.

What Toby Didn't See:

A concealed gate led to the Hyena off-exhibit area.
