Right, let's head for the beach!

Beachtown station is only small, really little more than a platform:

and a 'phonebox:

But, of course, people don't come for the railway station, they come for the beach:

The west end of the beach has a cafe:

and a telescope viewing point, always popular with the children:

At the east end, there is a small pier and landing stage for rowing boats:

And young romance can blossom:

while a seagull takes a snack:

“Today well-lived makes every yesterday a day of happiness to remember and every tomorrow a vision of hope.”

But the beach itself is the big attraction -

to teenagers:

youngsters:

families:

and for sports:

“Today well-lived makes every yesterday a day of happiness to remember and every tomorrow a vision of hope.”

Here are some more beach shots -

the lone sunbather:

the mischievous children:

the young yachtswoman:

the sand castle builders:

those well-prepared for the weather:

the donkey rides:

and the lifeboat:

More wonderful pictures, Gordon!  I love the way you have captured the interaction between the Klickies and their environment.  The solo sunbather with her Agatha Christie mystery is super . . . that is the perfect way to spend a day at the beach!

I really love the car engind on fire! Very nice effect there. And the young romance was a very cute detail. I liked all the seagulls everywhere, too. Wonderful beach scene, with so many details!

Thank you, Joe and Bonnie.  Last scenes coming up now.

Beachtown has  a long history and one project under way is the restoration of an old coastal defensive tower:

For the seafood fans, Beachtown has probably the best seafood stall on the coast.

With supplies fresh from the Seaport Fish Company:

Fred and Maisie have stopped there for a break while out with their dog:

Who is picking a fight with a local seagull:

Cycling is a popular pastime:

And it brings out the best in the younger generation:

Of course, you can't go to the seaside without having an ice-cream:

But not everyone was having a fun day.  Back at Seaport, there were urgent track repairs needed on the pier siding:

And to finish with, a video of the layout:

“Today well-lived makes every yesterday a day of happiness to remember and every tomorrow a vision of hope.”

This was a wonderful way to visit the exhibit, Gordon.  I saw so many different items that I had no idea existed!  8} So this has been instructive as well as enjoyable!  I have never seen the cinder blocks used by the men restoring the old coastal defensive tower before.  They are really neat and I agree with Bonnie, I love seeing all the seagulls. Thanks so much Gordon.
