When I'm not occupied with playmobil, my garden, some books, movies or my 4 weeks old little princes I like to do some scubadiving. Still have not all the equipment, but now I even have better equipment... playmostyle. I'm not collecting playmobil that long, and that's why I missed the diving theme a couple of years back. However, Playmobil did a little makeover and released the 4909 and 4910 this month in Holland. These were some sets I definitely needed to have.
So here goes a review of two awesome sets.

Some nice sets here, do not really have anything to say about them except the fact the rowing boat is a little small. Some bigger one would have been nice, but that will of course reflect in the price.
As soon if I find an appropriate aquarium I will make some photo's of the stuff underwater! :)

Thanks for the review of these great sets! Now I want them. :-\ I really love the shark emblem on the sides of them.
-
WOW!!! They are really awesome!! I love the colour combination on this sub... I have not manage to get the first one either, but this looks much cooler than the first! And the deep diver also looks great, good thing I bought a few of the first edition for some...project!!
Thanks for this excellent pics and reviews, Jan!!!

Two very nice sets indeed, and a very useful and well presented review, Jan. Thank you.

Was great to make this review, thank for the nice words. Forgot to mention, those diver klicky's really look magnificient, the prints make them look they wear real wetsuits.

These are great sets!
I do have the first sub and I must say that I like that color combination and those clickies better than these.
They are cool don't get me wrong.... but in Buenos Aires taxicabs are black and yellow... so this combo does not appeal to me for it makes me think of taxis. :-[ :-[
At first when I saw the box's pics I thought it was a dark green metalic color 8} 8}.. but seeing it is black changed things a little bit....
However.... I DO WANT THESE TOO!!!! :hissyfit: :hissyfit:

Excellent sets & review of them! The new color schemes are very nice! Thank you for taking the time to share them with us!

thanks for the nice review and photos conniefrere!
beautiful sub and I like the 'nose' most ;)
....well, that's one diver torso I can't use for chinese boxers :P
-
These are definitely some unique sets. Thanks for the review, conniefrere! ;)

They look great, I like that the clicky is not stuck with that diving suit and can have a life in playmoworld outside his hobby. :)
Also nice that his outfit matches that of the submarine crew.
The question remains though: does the submarine work? can it go underwater without drowning the poor clickies within?

great pictures and review of these sets. I too have the first edition and found them to be well designed and lots of fun for our boys. If they do get to the US I will be getting them so we can have some distinction between them. I do prefer the first color combination as this is a bit to festive with its wild colors.
The little inflatable boat with a deep sea diver is a bit odd. Once in the water the klicky would never be able to re-board his boat and would be stuck in the sea. Playmobil used to be quite accurate in its depiction of reality and how it works but they seem to be loosing this to cheap marketing ideas.
Thanks for the info on this preciously unknown color of the sub
-
That is quite true. A deep sea diver and a raft don't go together. :hmm:
-
Bought a small aquarium today so some underwater pics will follow in some other thread shortly.
@rhalius: we will know the klicky's stau dry!
@cheng: do not understand what you mean by 'nose' ? ???

Make sure to keep a resque team handy in case the submarine does not seal off properly. ;)

These are great sets and will no doubt end up in my collection...
...I have a question about the box for the dinghy. It looks like it has a folding flap and tape like the original boxes rather than the more recent style ones which are glued down. Is this true or is it just the camera angle?
Claire

I don't collect this theme but these sets are very interesting.
Thanks for the pictures.
George.

Don't know exactly what you mean, but the 4909 box indeed opens up flaplike. Though the edges of the flaps are glued to the box, but is easily opened.

Thanks for the pictures.

You're welcome

@cheng: do not understand what you mean by 'nose' ? ???
oh, I meant the clear 'glass' nose of the sub (what do they call that part of a helicopter anyway?)...reminds me of my model Vertol helicopter (a long double rotor personnel and equipment carrier) ;)
