I moved into a new home on Friday & the Internet was turned on today.

On the first day we discovered that there are too many broken water lines to have the water turned on, & that there is no gas hook-up for the house. The hot water tank & furnace don't work, & the new stove & fridge aren't here yet.

Both of my cats somehow escaped & are gone. I'm taking it badly.

I think it may take me a little time for the News; I'm feeling quite exhausted & with no end in sight to my constant physical pain, I'm now overwhelmed. I suffer from PTSD & am currently a right mess.

Jim

:(

Have you tried to put their litter box outside? I read about that trick from several like situations, never tried myself (thank the gods, never needed to).. Especially in quieter times, like maybe at night?

And look carefully around the house too - sometimes they can be VERY near, but scared and so hiding. A friend of my mother found her cat after days right next to her place - hiding under the garbage bin!

Actually... look thouroughly IN the house. Moving is very stressful for cats, and they can even be hiding there : a neighbor found her cat behind the washing machine, after looking for a couple of days.... so unless you KNOW for SURE that they left, it's worth a try too.

I am not sure if the cats would know how to go back to your previous home? Ask the neighbors/friends there to keep an eye out.

And posters/leaflets...

:(  I hope you get better, and that they return to you well. The rest will be sorted, sooner or later.

Sorry to hear that Jim, take care of yourself. News and other stuff here can always wait. We appreciate what you do for us, but taking care of yourself should always come first.

You really have a lot to cope with at the moment, Jim.
Look after yourself and hopefully there will be some good news soon!
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)
