hatch/grate compatibility for ships question
« on: August 01, 2016, 05:23:03 »
The naval schooner comes with a big deck grate.
Is this the same mould as the deck grate on the old style pirate/navy ships like 3550?
Playmodb doesn't link them as being the same but they look the same - are they?

Thanks for the offer, but It was more curiosity than anything else. I got a ship hull a while ago and I've decided to fix it up. It's missing most of the pieces. There is a compatible part available  in a print order form, but I was wondering if the similar looking part  (which also comes with a seat)  from the schooner and available online was the same thing.

I'm going to try my hand at making some sails using the sails on my 3940 as a template, just not sure what material I'll use yet.

I made sails using the heavy weight interfacing used for dressmaking  (not the iron on type). It is usually sold in black and white. I have used both.  I soaked the white briefly in cold tea then let it dry out, I then used pencil for the markings on the sails.

Thanks for the tip.

No, the grates are different.
Each type of Playmobil Pirates (or Navy) ship has a different type of deck-grate. Except maybe the latest cabinless ship (6678), that one might have a grate used by one of the other models, I should check...

Resistance is futile, you will be boarded!
